PLANT BASED SCHOOL KITCHENS is a new enterprise from Gary and Anna Hardley of the Vegan Street Food Company where it was felt that the school lunch are an important part of the children’s day and plant-based food was never a real option with their strap line ‘Changing what you eat to change the World’ Our termly menus are created by a team of chefs and nutritionists ensuring that the most delicious, vibrant and healthy onsite food is served with everything being free from 13 of the UK’s 14 allergens including wheat, nuts, dairy and egg. We occasionally use soya in our cooking but our aim is to eliminate that also so children who suffer from allergens and children from all faiths can enjoy the same lunch as one. With governments across the globe encouraging eating less meat and consuming more plant based meals, there is also great focus on bringing plant based kitchens into schools and other establishments. Ethical eating and farming is vital to the longevity of the planet and feeding children in schools has too often been about profit rather than nutrition. We currently cater for independent schools and nurseries along with local authorities providing lunches for HAF (Holiday and Food) clubs
