Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 159 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about the astronomical costs and rapid monetization, making it extremely expensive to finish a book. People also noted that free episodes quickly end and prices increase dramatically halfway through the series. Additionally, customers experienced frustrating technical problems, including freezing screens and disappearing visual content during playback. Though some reviewers were happy with the entertaining plots and found the audio format great for listening while commuting to work, they still faced occasional challenges. A few users mentioned that despite these positive aspects, the overall value for money remains poor.

POCKET FM ARE A FULLY AI RUN BUSINESS…

POCKET FM ARE A FULLY AI RUN BUSINESS NOW WHOSE CUTOMERS ARE EXPENDABLE. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU OR THE MONEY YOU SPEND. HALF WAY THROUGH A BOOK THEY WILL TAKE AWAY THE EPISODES YOUVE ALREADY PAID FOR AND THROW YOU BACK TO THE START OF THE BOOK GIVING DIFFERENT VOICES FOR THE CHARACTERS WHICH SPOIL THE JOURNEY YOUVE HAD WITH THE BOOK.
THE PHOTO'S DONT MATCH WHATS BEING DESCRIBED AND THE EXPERIENCE BECOMES FRUSTRATING. FURTHERMORE THEY DONT HAVE A COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT AND IT WOULD SEEM OUR HARD EARNED MONEY MEANS NOTHING TO THEM .. SOMETIMES IVE COMPLETELY LOST ALL MY COINS WITH NO WHERE TO CLAIM THEM BACK .... COMPLETE FRAUDSTERS ... BEING THAT I CANNOT LEAVE THINGS LEFT OPEN THIS HAS LEFT ME OPEN AND ANGRY AND THE OBVIOUS ROBBERY THEY ARE COMMITTING

NO COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT MEAN CRIMINAL BUSINESS !!!!!!!

Horrible - money hungry

Some great stories, but the cost and then the ads are ridiculous. You can watch ads to get another episode, but they tell you it's only 16 ads then they put 3 ads into one ad period, it takes a LONG time, and they only credit it as watching one. Then there are times where you watch the ad (or 3) and you get back to the main page and it tells you you STILL have 16 ads to watch. I sat through 30 minutes of ads one day, only for 2 episodes and they were only a few minutes each. Waste of time. Find somewhere else to listen to stories or books, somewhere more honest

Start by reviewing the pricing…

Start by reviewing the pricing structure. Its a big scam!! What kind of e-book costs hundreds of pounds to complete and we dont even get to own the book. It doesnt make sense to pay hundreds of pounds to read the duke's masked bride. I had to stop buying the coins and got the rest of the story just asking google specific questions on the chare
cters and the episodes. I found out what happened to Edgar, Alastair, the Eldenfield throne, Kate and Damien in Greyhold etc. Anyway I will not ruin it for those who actually can afford to pay💰💰 to keep on reading 😕

Terrible support

Terrible support, don't have any need for help or you will loose your money. The stories are good but the poor support take your desires to listen to stop. Sometimes months if at all to fix any technical issues. I made mistake to recommend, my friend had an issue finally gave up and lost what money had spent on story without finishing as support never resolved issue.

Deceptive listening

Story’s are good. Currently listening to the Duke’s masked bride. On episode 1123. Periodically through the story, I have purchased a few tokens. But today when I went to go listen to my daily allotted amount. It informs me that going forward. The only way for me to finish the story is to purchase tokens or coins. As there is over 1300 episodes in the story that means that I still need to purchase enough tokens for 177 episodes and nine coins and episode that’s over 1500 more coins. As I’m a platinum member. I get 94 coins per $9.99 I would have to spend a minimum of another $169 to finish this one story. On top of what I have already spent. I could go to a bookstore and buy on average 11 books. I could go to a used bookstore and probably buy 32 bucks. And again this doesn’t count what I’ve already spent. Had I known that the whole end of the story I’d have to pay for on top of what I’ve already spent. I either wouldn’t have listened to the story or I would’ve waited to purchase anything till I got to this point in the story. This is robbery I will not be purchasing any more coins, and I will not be listening to any more stories on this app.

Good story line but Frustrating App

The coins and rewards you can earn or buy are frustrating. To find puzzles and games they offer to gain coins is awful. To see how many coins you earned are difficult Some of the spelling of character names are spelled different in each episode. . Some of the voices are annoying. After I finish The Dukes Masked Bride I’m deleting this App.

One star due to pocket fm knowing that…

One star due to pocket fm knowing that tapjoy is scamming their customers by not granting rewards earned through the offerwall on the app, and not doing anything about it. Spent good money signing up for subscriptions through the offerwall, only to be denied the rewards each time. The smaller rewards were granted instantly, showing that the tracking works. Tapjoy is a scam and shame on pocket fm for allowing it on their platform.

The listening experience is becoming…

The listening experience is becoming extremely deceptive. As I attempt to finish a series I have been listening to for about a year now has become very difficult. While spending money for extra coins, there were still daily free episodes (3 and/or 30 min.), slowly progressing to a point where I am now. While every day you hear "please come back tomorrow for your free daily episodes" there are NONE. Deceptively presented the only option to finish series will cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I am not going to pay over $900.00 just finish a story! I have already spent hundreds. It very disheartening to find out that you have been being slowly manipulated and taken advantage of while you have good intentions.

I have purchased about $200.00 worth of the Masked Dukes Bride and saw up to Episode's 290. I wanted to view specific paid episodes and had to repay from the beginning!!! There has to be a way to track and keep paid stories seperate from unpaid stories. How do you use the library to store your favorite stories without paying for them again? Now I can't buy any coins in the Apple Store states something went wrong. I am on a MacBook Air laptop. Need to send solutions to the problem if you want to keep customer. Thank you

Pocket FM

Pocket FM
There is very little to like about Pocket FM other than the stories themselves.
At first you get a decent number of episodes to listen to, then you are reduced to just a few a day, though this is tolerable. Then when you get 3/4 of the way through a story you enter the "Finale Zone" where you must spend coins to listen to the conclusion of the story. Second comes the price. The app is free, coins are not. You receive about 120 coins for $10 if they are on sale. That will get you about 30-40 minutes of listening to an AI voice read your story, sometimes adequately, sometimes very poorly, even pronouncing the characters names incorrectly. Even a short story could cost you hundreds to listen to its conclusion. The app uses coins as it sees fit and sometimes uses them for episodes you already listened to. The app also piles on stories onto your listening list that you have not selected, requiring constant maintenance, and constantly hits you with ads for coins. You could buy several audio books professionally narrated for the price of one of these poorly written stories. I really liked several of the stories and I really wanted to like the app, but it's truly the worst app I have ever put on my phone and when they hit me with the "Finale Zone" I deleted the app.

They are far too expensive for a single title and their app is terrible

They are far too expensive for a single series it's $600 for some, their interface is god aweful the series I'm trying to watch has over 3000 episodes and I'm on 200+ but every time I add money or unlock for free it resets my screen putting me back at ep 1 and I have to scroll back to 200 but it has a load time for roughly every 10 so it pauses every 10 for 3 to 5 sec just to get back to where I was

Such a scam

Such a scam. They get you hooked on a book/story and after you’re several episodes in you have to start buying coins or wait 12 - 24 hours until you accumulate more episodes to watch. There were 1300 episodes in the story and it took me two purchases, had to play games, watching ads, etc. and spent my time only getting to Episode 180. What a waste.

List of grievances

I've been listening on Pocket FM for a while now, and from time to time, I become unable to use the app for personal reasons. Whenever this happens, I go to the website to continue listening, but at this point, I've gone so far into the story that it stretches it out. I have to scroll and wait for the episodes to load only to scroll some more until I reach the episode that I reach. The worser part is that sometimes errors happen and I have to reload the website. This resets my progress and I have to reload all the episodes back again from the beginning. It is very tedious. It would be great if they had a similar system that placed their listener onto the episode that they've listened to, or if, similar to the app, had a way to instantly move to a group of episodes that were near it and load from there. Another point is that, if you were to log in using google, you automatically use google to log or create an account. The issue with this is that there is no way to create a password. I've asked them about this multiple times, and they've always responded by stating to use the forgot password at the log in section, but they have no such thing. They are completely reliant on the fact that you've used the google thing, or the email, and have no flexibility with this. If I'm being honest, the majority of the good stories that pop up in Pocket FM come from their partnership with Webnovel, and even then, only the contracted stories have a small chance of getting there. I want to rate this high, but I just can't, I have way too many complaints about it. I've tried to write a story as well simply to see how that works. The only good thing about it was the fact that they didn't lie. Once you have a story voice set up, there's no going back. You can't even delete it once you have another episode set up, and that is the only way to change the voice, delete and remake. There's got to be a better way manage these things. Pocket FM has gotten way too greedy in my opinion. A few stories that I've been listening to use to require only 5 to 9 coins, but those costs and gone up to unlock each episode. There are many small changes that could be made to improve it for its users, but they never seem to listen to criticism and only look at the positive reviews. This is not the way to improve. The only reason why I'm still using it despite the issues and grievances that I have with it is because I listened to the stories and if I were to switch, I would have to start all over. That is another issue that I have with it. It states that it will not condone plagiarism, but I have seen so many stories and synopses with different names that are all pretty much the same. It says one thing and supports another. In its writing policy, it states how it will go through everything to check for plagiarism, but when I look through the stories that it contains, I can see three things with the exact premise, the exact story-arcs, the exact synopses. The only things that are different are the names of the characters and the names of the story itself. If only it listened to its consumers, Pocket FM would have a much happier userbase that grew. Many come and leave shortly after because they realize on the issues pretty quickly. Even at this very moment as I write this review, I am waiting for episodes to load on the website because I'm currently incapable of using the website. It has been an hour of wait, and I'm still not at the episode that I've left off of. I believe that I've ranted long enough. Whoever is reading this, you'll see that there are a lot of issues, and those are only the ones that I have. There are many more that I do not experience.
