Hi Sheila, I'm afraid, as with any type of training or exercise, it is quite tough. This is because it challenges your breathing muscles in a way they've not been challenged before. But that does imply that you are training correctly.
The training won't become easier I'm afraid, as you'll need to increase the breathing load when you find you can easily manage the 30 breaths. It's at this point that you'll need to increase the load to challenge your breathing muscles once again.

Delivered within 48 hours and used to prepare for lung operation. Nifty bag and nose-clip (perhaps they are all rather uncomfortable). Seems well made and detailed instructions for use. Easy to adjust resistance. Will use after the operation as well.

This is a simple device that is mechanical in nature, which performs well with adjustable features. It is intuitive and I feel that it can do the job of providing a good exercise for the lungs.
