While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

Advertised $65, charged $175, then removed features after signup

ProofServe advertises process serving at $65 per person. After signing up and submitting my job, I received an email quoting $96 per person — a 48% increase with no explanation. The next day, the price changed again to $175 per person. No explanation was provided for either increase.

Six of my eight defendants work in offices within one block of each other. The entire service would take approximately 20 minutes of walking. ProofServe wanted $1,050 for 20 minutes of work.

I also selected skip tracing when I submitted the job. The next day I was told ProofServe does not offer skip tracing to pro se clients — a limitation that was never disclosed during signup or anywhere on their website.
The website itself barely functions. On Firefox, text entry takes 10+ seconds per keystroke and the final submission form would not load at all. Switching to Chrome improved things slightly but the site remained painfully slow. Every other website on the internet works on Firefox. ProofServe does not.

To summarize: the advertised price tripled after signup, a paid feature was removed after I selected it, and the website doesn't work on a major browser. I cancelled and found a local process server who charged a fraction of the price with no surprises.
