Public Mobile used to be great, then Telus took it over and slowly removed features and incentives (without notifying the customer) while raising prices. They used to reward loyalty by providing a dis... See more

Horrific customer service.
Horrific customer service.
Fine if you need just a one or two month thing… maybe while visiting Canada.
Do not go long term. They are horrendous. Zero customer service.
If you have a problem, be ready to wait days even weeks for any help.
Don’t waste your money or your time.
Same BAD EXPERIENCE as the others share…
Same BAD EXPERIENCE as the others share here..
First, frankly, the service was flaky.. In many sports the signal was weak despite "the telus' network".
After 2 years of semi-struggling, I moved to another provider but they deactivated my account before I got my number ported !
After a day and a half of chatting (wasted time) to their bots (barely feeling like people) I was forced to pay for another month, to just get the port initiated which took 1 h 20 min. The rest of "paid for service" amount was simply stolen from me.
While chatting they constantly deceive the conversation manipulating the "account" and "service" words. They want us to pay for "service" to get the "account" activated. Whilst I clearly stated multiple times I do not want any "service", I just want my number ported, i.e. technically speaking to receive that single SMS for confirming the port.
However, at the same time they do not hesitate to send me multiple SMS reminders the "service is on hold". Which, technically, means they are able to send you SMS anytime without "activating" of anything. Feels like a scam.
Also, the chatbots put the guilt on me by saying "the service is being suspended" (instead of "on hold") like I'm being punished for breaking free of their carpy "service".
Yet again, at last, the PM crooks advised to go back to CC and request a "chargeback". It does not exist there, but I can only dispute a transaction, which is not same. This is the finely tailored scam-like thing..
The Customer Service simply does not exist. There is NO ONE to talk to.
NEVER AGAIN come I back to them, no matter how cheap the "deal" is, big thanks.
If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars — or even less — I would.
What seemed simple quickly turned into a mess. The number transfer failed, so I tried to just activate the eSIM. That didn’t work either. To get support, you have to log in — but logging in is impossible, even after resetting the password 24 times.
Canceling the account? Also impossible. The login just loops endlessly. Eventually, I managed to reach someone via a chat/email form, and all they did was politely ask me to try again.
I’m done with this cheap scam. It’s a shame.
Right now I ask to send back the money to may account and cancel. Still waiting.
Awful company, stay away
I switched cell phone providers and they deactivated my number before it was ported, and after a day and a half on their chat with an agent and $59 later, they told me the account is closed and the number cannot be reinstated, a number I have had for 25 years. Awful customer service - in fact there is none!
Public Mobile Points are a SCAM
Once again, I cashed in points for an add-on (extra data) and the points were deducted from my account but NO DATA WAS ADDED.
This is a scam and I would advise people to stay away from this company with its lousy service.
I will be switching to someone else
Data got so so slow in Bolton
Data got so so slow in Bolton, Ontario area which they say it is under their coverage. There is nothing or no one I could address this issue or talk to
There is no one to contact
There is no one to contact. I pay for e sims on both my kids phones, but cannot contact anyone at public mobile to cancel the plans. All i get is ai telling me to use the phone to log onto my account. I have one kid overseas, with her phone, so, cant use phone number to log into account , and my other kids e sim isnt working, so he cant log into his account, yet they are still debiting my account for esims that arnt in use and there is no-one i can speak to to explain this.
Been with Public Mobile for a year
Been with Public Mobile for almost a year now
Switching and porting my number and my wife's number was a breeze. Never had an issue with the service.
Yes, they don't have a customer service, but they do have a great community support site where you will find all of the answers...
As for price, my phone bill was around $190/mth before switching (5G, 60GB of data combined, US calling and data)..now my phone bill is $90 (5G, 140GB of data combined, Canada,US and Mexico)
It's not often I find myself writing…
It's not often I find myself writing 5-star reviews, but Public Mobile deserves it!
With my Freedom Mobile cell coverage going from bad to worse, it was time to look for a new mobile provider.
Public offered a similar plan, at the same price...the only caveat was I had to do the switch myself
And Public makes it super easy.
I had my iPhone up and running with a fully ported number within 90-minutes.
I look forward to a long relationship with Public Mobile.
Less expensive, but useless on Customer Service
Been a customer since 2022 soon to be an ex customer. I’m paying for services that don’t work ( US Roaming), it’s impossible to get help, their web site is terrible (no way to get a service call, keeps asking me to login when I’m logged in). And I’m paying g for a US-Can messaging and phone that only works in Canada; not explained in their pkg. Don’t bother getting this carrier ( owned, I think, by Telus. Shameful.
It's been a month since I left the country and I'm still dealing with this nonsense
As with every other genuine review on here, if I could give 0 stars I would. I moved to Canada a few years ago and started on Public Mobile. Wasn't too bad at the start, bit frustrating to have no customer service to contact, but I wrote it off as a trade for a slightly cheaper plan. After a year things just deteriorated though... I had to leave the country for 6 months so as I always do, I set up an auto-renewal to keep my plan and number active, triple checked I had the funds in my account for it, and headed off. Came back ready to move my sim over, find out after the first month, PM decided to just stop my auto-renewal with no warning or contact, this meant they gave my number to someone else. Couldn't get into any of my important accounts because of course everything has 2-factor authentication and it's attached to my old number. Nightmare. I attempt to get my old number back and in the process they give me an entirely new number (after I've paid under the impression they're re-activating my old one) so then I'm stuck in a plan with them for at least another month. At this point I know I only have 4 months until I completely leave the country so say 'whatever' and decide to just deal with it. Should have eaten the cost and just gone to a more expensive company in hindsight. I set up auto-renewal but each month my phone stops working and I have to dig to find any communication about my plan ending. EACH MONTH I go back in and switch auto renew BACK ON in the hopes I don't have to deal with it next month. The date I leave Canada comes around and I go into my account, giddy to cancel this stupid service and never have to deal with it again. Do some digging and find out I can't cancel my number/account, but if I switch of auto-renew and don't activate a new subscription then my number will be cancelled after a period of time, so that's what I do. Guess when I get my first successful auto-renewal? 2 weeks after I've switched it off and left the country. So now I'm fighting them for a refund and waiting for them to put in writing that I won't be charged again when I've tried to cancel my service.
Why waste $$ for data you don’t use?
Great online support (for me), extremely cost effective, decent connectivity in my suburban part of British Columbia, nice USA (!!) and Mexico roaming packages available if required
Worked flawlessly with iPhone 15 Pro Max in California (2024) and Mexico (2025)
Reliable Cell Service at A discount
This is a great discount cell service provider that uses the Telus network and the cell service is as reliable as Telus but much less expensive. To keep the prices low, there is no over the phone service help. There is an on line community to help with issues and this is very helpful. If you like saving money, Public mobile is the way to go. If you want Platinum card, luxury service and willing to pay more, Telus and Koodos has great plans for you.
Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!
I signed up with Public Mobile and lost my phone number in the process. Telus could not help me and Public Mobile had a glitch on their end. I had paid for one month. I lost my phone number and $35.00. What a scam!!!
If there was a rating below one star…
If there was a rating below one star that is what I woiuld give. Account shows only half of data used but access to data cut off. Used their phony points to buy more data. Points deducted but no data. Used points to buy U.S. data roaming. Points deducted but no data. RUN, DON"T WALK, from your thoughts about using this company. Service ticket to resolve met with useless info and then asked for my credit card. NOT LIKELY!!
Terrible network, terrible service
What an awful company.
I know Canadian phone plans are terrible but the fact that after less than 6 months they make you change the phone plan on purpose to a worse deal is awful. Wow you carry on being great. Also no customer service just robots doing the work.
Customer service is non-existant
Customer service is non-existant. I cannot log into my account on my phone. They have come up with some way to mess up the security of logging in. Trust Pilot is a bust. When you cannot log in through trust pilot, something is seriously wrong with the protocols.
Sometimes good, sometimes bad YMMV
Great experience switching to the bargain Telus brand (Public Mobile) when everything goes right. When it doesn't, it's horrendous. Only switch to this service if you don't rely on your phone for everything and you have a good understanding of cellular troubleshooting. Since customer service is just an online chat, you'll probably need to do most things yourself by reading the community forums. Most account information can be seen and edited in the mobile app but certain things still need to be done in a browser. Both the mobile and browser apps are okay, nothing great but also nothing horrible. My pet peeve is the Eversafe security that they use. When updating your profile, you aren't in Public Mobile anymore and today I found out that I can't get back into my account at Public Mobile after switching to the Eversafe account. No way to sign out on a public computer. That was very thoughtful of them to create a security flaw in the security app. I'm still staying with them since all the bargain brands are cheaper than the main 3 and Telus is the only network that works for my particular scenario.
