While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

I have been with Raif bank Hungary as premium customer for 2 years. Both as EV and individual. Cannot say anything bad about business account but private service is not at high standard. I could never reach CS on phone less that 8-9 minutes, on my complain that once I had to sit on the line for 22 minutes they replied that they had technical problems. But it repeats again and again. My manager (who I assume works with premium only) has very poor communication not saying what he wants and why he contacted me. If I go to branch office there is no such an option for premium customers. Thanks god they now have virtual cards so we dont have to mess with plastic production and delivery.
I tried to make an important transfer to a third country using the phone app, and I set the request as immediate. However, they didn’t execute the transfer. The next day, they called me, but the phone rang for only a few seconds, so I wasn’t able to answer, and shortly after, the transfer was rejected. I tried calling back, but I waited on the line for 30 minutes without reaching anyone. I renewed the transfer and sent a message through the app as well. Again, the transfer wasn't executed, and the next day, the same thing happened—the call came and then the transfer was rejected. This time, I called back and waited until someone finally answered. They informed me that they call to verify that I requested the transfer, and that I had to renew the transfer and answer their call when it came. They don’t accept the fact that I had to unlock my phone, use my bank app credentials, and then use LuxTrust, a third-party provider that all banks use for verification, which requires additional credentials and MFA (multi-factor authentication using face recognition). The same procedure is required to add a beneficiary to your list. Despite all these verification steps, they insist on verifying the transfer through a phone call—one that anyone could pick up without unlocking the phone. The call comes from an unknown number, so you don’t even know who is calling. Moreover, you have to answer immediately, no matter what you’re doing, or your request is rejected, and you have to try again the next day—or wait three days if it’s a Friday. The helpdesk was not helpful either, and they didn’t respond to the messages I sent through the app. Five days later, I still haven’t been able to complete the transfer.
I should have done more research before committing to Raiffeisen. I worked in Luxembourg for three years and needed a reliable bank. To open an account, you must go through an interview with many personal questions, including inquiries about your assets abroad. I felt judged. I found the app to be good; however, there were some lengthy maintenance periods, and you can't add attachments (even though they ask for many), but overall, I was satisfied.
However, since I left Luxembourg, I’ve been treated like a pariah: I made a few transactions and my advisor asked for explanations because she found my profile "suspicious": Do I still have a job? Why am I no longer depositing my salaries into this bank? Why did I transfer money abroad?
I responded, but shortly after, I closed my account, explaining my dissatisfaction. My advisor justified it as a legal check, but no check requires justifying your employment status or why you are withdrawing your money!
This bank has a communist policy...
Staff were incredibly rude, asked about highly personal details about a larger money transfer in a tough, unfriendly manner. When I asked to have a copy of the law they claimed allowed them to request the many details they alleged, I was told to go find the law myself. That same day Raiffeisen blocked my account and 3 days later I received a letter stating that they discontinued their business with me. My account was closed! Clearly Raiffeisen has more than enough customers and think they operate somewhere in a communist country…
Been using Raiffeisen Luxembourg for several months. My personal experience with them is in general negative, especially with online banking and notification system (or lack thereof).
Online banking won't show your spending immediately and often takes 2~4 days until it is shown on the system. This applies to both debit and credit card.
Moreoever, they do not provide SMS or APP notification for movements nor spending. If someone uses your card fraudulently, you won't notice it until few days later. By then, you can only see something wrong if you actually go and check your online bank regularly.
I will definitely change main bank to somewhere else next year.
so far recommebded, but i am a quiet new member so far, my previous bank has closed
