Fraudulent Merchant Operating in Hotel
While the hotel itself provides a standard experience, management is failing in its primary duty to protect guests. They allow a merchant called Tribal Women Crafts to operate in their lobby—a vendor that engaged in documented financial fraud during my stay.
I was sold synthetic rugs under the guise of '100% natural silk' for over $2,300 USD. The merchant admitted the items were fake only after I left. I trusted this shop specifically because they were located inside an established hotel like the Regency, assuming they had been vetted.
My bank has since ruled the transaction as fraudulent and reversed the charges. It is unacceptable for a reputable hotel to host a tenant that uses 'social mission' branding to target and scam international travelers. Until the hotel removes this merchant, I strongly advise guests to keep their credit cards in their pockets. You are not safe from predatory sales tactics in this hotel.
