my seeds left the country

I ordered my seeds, and after several weeks, they hadn't arrived. Lost in the tracking system, and finally showed up in Puerto Rico (I'm in New England) Company finally emailed back (you cannot call them via phone) that they couldn't understand what happened. Supposed to send another round of seeds but nothing yet. They DID bill me. Attorney General will be my next contact if I don't hear back soon.

They steal your money.

As many others have said, they steal your money. I mean just flat out take it, never ship your order, and never respond to email attempts to inquire about your order. I will dispute charges with CC company.

Took my money and never sent my order

Took my money and never sent my order. They also didn’t reply to any on my several inquiries about it.

To their reply: clearly, I’m a woman per my photo. This was over a week after I reached out multiple times through multiple different avenues to no avail. I would have known the packages was in box if they had sent a tracking number like every single e-commerce business that exist does. Better customer communication would do a lot for your reputation.

Editing again to let you know that i understood I would t receive a tracking number, but you also never sent a shipping confirmation email and I couldn’t get a response from anyone for days on end when I reached out about it. It took leaving multiple negative reviews in multiples places to get a response. So yes, it did very much seem like you took my money and didn’t send anything.

I’ve since ordered again and got a shipping confirmation email, which is what customers expect. Simply taking accountability for the error would have resulted in me changing or removing my review.

We reached out to Jordan on another site she left a review on, and after looking into it, found he had not received the shipping notification email, and wasn't aware that the package was at his post office

I apologize, I did not see a picture to know your gender. Our free shipping option notes that we do not provide tracking information with that option for shipping. This is because a large number of packages that we ship using our free shipping method go by flat rate envelope, and USPS does not provide tracking numbers for that class of mail.

We apologize that you did not receive the shipping confirmation email on that order. Our techs looked into it and have resolved the issue. Our customer service team strives to answer emails in the order that they are received, as quickly as possible. Customer service does not handle these reviews, we have a different person for that, and different people for social media as well.

We could not get an order to go…

We could not get an order to go through, tried on phone and computer. There was no phone number to call for customer service. We went with another company after reading all the negative reviews on Trustpilot.

Great variety of heirloom seeds.

So far, I have nothing but great experiences with purchasing and germinating seeds from this company.
Our winter crops of Chijimisai and Choy Sum, summer long beans, they all did exceptionally well.
What I’ve learned is to pay attention to what’s on each pocket of seeds purchased from Baker Creek, it’s very important to learn what each plant needs. I’ve wasted some seeds because I didn’t follow through with what was advised. Plus, as I’m getting better at understanding when and what to plant, I’m getting much better results in my garden overall.

I fell for their social media marketing…

I fell for their social media marketing and ordered over 20 varieties. Worst rate of germination I’ve experienced in 20 years and will not be a customer next year. I had nothing but excitement and high hopes for this year and it’s been a big disappointment. I tried soaking, started indoors under a commercial led, in ground. Nothing worked.

I spent $84 on seeds with zero…

I spent $84 on seeds with zero germination on many packets, strawberry dandelions, stock flowers, crimson clover, etc. I also received packs of seeds saying minimum of 25 seeds and there were only nine seeds in the pack, this is fraud. This company charges a premium for seeds and they don't grow, period. Don't throw your money away. There is a seed company in Oregon that has a 98% germination rate you can order fron jnstead.

This is the 3rd year I've ordered from…

This is the 3rd year I've ordered from Rare Seeds. Each year I have not had luck with the rate at which the seeds sprouted. Initially I thought it was me & something I was doing wrong. But after 3 years of very little results, I'm thinking the seeds don't have a very respectable germination rate. After a month, most of the seeds I purchased (10 different flowers) haven't even sprouted. Very disappointed, will not order from them again.
Not to mention it took over two weeks to get my order filled.

Generous company with fertile seeds

All of the seeds that I received germinated. They are very generous, sent more than what it says on the packet. They do not charge for the postage unlike other companies. Their prices are very reasonable. The seeds started to germinate at the earliest day of the day range that is shown on the package, some even earlier. I highly recommend Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds -rareseeds.com. I will buy only from them. I had pretty stale seeds with high postage fees from some other companies. rareseeds.com is the best, in my opinion and experience until now.

We apologize, but the only shipping we charge is for international shipments. We held out as long as we could, but we sadly had to recently start charging. International packages can take several weeks, as we have no control over customs or the postal systems handling the package. You should have received a shipping confirmation email when your order shipped, that included a tracking link.

Disappointing experience w/ customer service

**Update: Customer service is trying to fixed the issue.

I had a great experience with them the first time I ordered. The second time around was utterly disappointing. This order included both seeds and live plants; the company shipped them separately with two different tracking links, and I have received the plants but not the seeds. The plants were too young and small to be sold at that price. Additionally, their customer service is not very bright. They didn't even read my email description and kept telling me that the order had been shipped.

My positive experience with Baker Creek heirloom seed co.

The package I received was all the packs of flower seeds that I ordered perfectly packed in well made envelopes describing the plants and the growing processes needed in detail. I recommend and they do as well,to make sure you use a seedling heat mat for proper temps for fine seeds . Baker Creek heirloom seeds are amazing and has wonderful selections. They were prompt and my package was delivered with in three days. I will order from them again after I get all these seedlings in the ground. Very pleased and successful. Thank You So much !

I ordered some seeds and they came (i do a msll tester order to see if they are good or not first) and i love the seeds. So i did another bigger order and thats when i had problems. Half the stuff didnt come thou and they said sorry we will send the stuff again and never heard form them again and yes nothing came thou.

A long-lived company with solid results

Like most people, if I write a review of a company on Trust Pilot, it's because I'm unhappy. I saw the low scores here and it occurred to me that I should probably write a positive review to off-set this a bit.

I'm a long-time, seasoned gardener and been using Baker's Creek for close to twenty years. I've never had a problem or question that couldn't be solved with an email. Their people are courteous and helpful and they reply fairly quickly. Their seed is priced reasonably and they generally ship out quickly. I've never had something not come at all.

What purchasers need to know is that Baker's Creek works with a number of non-GMO suppliers around the world.

On a handful of occasions, I've had issues with spinach with poor germination. Most of the time, when something doesn't germinate (or has a poor rate of germination), it's gardener's fault for planting it too early or too late or not watering often enough (or watering too much). But after the second year in a row of spinach with poor germination, I reached out to them and they refunded my money (they also offered to replace the seed), no questions asked. They also thanked me for letting them know.

I want you to know that I haven't had that problem since.

Last year, a variety of squash I purchased came up something completely different (looked like a wild melon, actually). I thought it was sort of funny and reached out to BC, sending them pictures. Like me, they were fascinated by it (we exchanged a couple of notes), but they refunded it quickly, explaining that they get their seed from a number of different suppliers (which I mentioned above) and they'd communicate this to their supplier.

In twenty years, they've never disappointed me. I love the sheer variety of seed they often and I've had lots of opportunities to experiment with crops that I might not have gotten to try otherwise. My kids (all adults now) still remember the year I grew the spiny fruit that looked like it came from Mars. And the purple (green) beans delighted my grandkids.

This company is worth your time.

Very low germination of seeds…very…

Very low germination of seeds…very disappointing. Out of 30 tomato seeds 2 germinated. Dollar tree seeds are better, save your money. Will not order again.

Horrible business!

Horrible business!! Took my money, gave me some fake tracking number and has never replied to my DM or emails since. This company will take your money and ship something bogus and you’ll never hear from them again! Don’t do business with them, go to other seeds company that won’t take your money and never respond to you. Reporting this company for fraud and I will most definitely getting my money back. I don’t even want to leave one star review, they not even worthy of that! Never again.

The germination is very good

The germination is very good, no bad comments. I would have liked him to accept my request to change the price of the value of the package, I am from Canada and the costs of imports are very high, if he had accepted I would have bought much more, it is only Seeds, no people are not going to prison for changing the price on customs paper for seeds. Usually I have no problem changing the price with other seed sellers. Trying 3 varieties and germination is very good. Esteent other thing I liked is that the company gives a free sachet when ordering with a minimum purchase, the problem is that I only order flowers And I receive a free carrot bag !!! it's as if I ordered in an animal store, dog toys and as a gift it gives me litter for cats! It's ridiculous, I communicate with the company To give my opinion and they closed my account. I watch their reviews and more than 70% give 3 stars and less, lol. In addition I note that they do not give an explanation comment on the reviews they receive

We apologize, but to put a different value amount on a customs form is illegal. The free seed sent is determined by what seed packet is loaded in the picking bin at the time your order is picked, and not something that we can pick and choose. The only reason we ever delete an account on our website, is if the customer requests it. As for not commenting on reviews, there are hundreds of site out there, and we were just made aware of this one today, and so are going back and commenting on the reviews.

Disappointed

Very disappointing. Ordered seeds for several years and they always, without fail, perform poorly. Low germination rates, not very hardy plants, and everything in the catalogue is “prolific!” “Delicious!” “Proven!” Only thing proven about this company is they don’t care about anything but pictures for instagram. Very little info on climate, soil conditions, or growing. Every seed is for everybody, as long as they have another dollar in their pocket. So many better companies with more thorough testing, information, and help for those who need to eat from their seeds. Feel fleeced every time I order, and it feels very colonial to be ordering from their catalogue of international snatches.
