I was a regular purchaser of items from this company which were of good quality and which used to arrive well packaged and in a timely fashion. They have a good range of natural healthy products at reasonable prices.

I then had the misfortune to order some Hemp seed which I think may have been Romanian sourced, the seeds were very poor quality with lots of dust and empty seed casings (probably bagged from the last remnants of the bulk container).

I emailed customer services via their web portal and was told I needed to send photos of the offending items which I couldn't via the web portal, I received an email with what I perceived a bit of a snotty tone asking me to send them back. The time and expense of doing this just wasn't worth it as far as I was concerned so I decided not to give them my custom any more (I used to place orders several times a year of around £150-£200) and took the £12 cost (approx) as a knock on the chin.

I subsequently found the seeds also contained what appears to be mouse droppings - Yuk, and just to think I was sprinkling them on my breakfast.

I now buy my whole foods from a company based in Kent.

I have been buying from this company since February this year and I find them very responsive. Their products have always been of the highest quality and their prices cannot be beaten. Their packaging is also excellent compared to other companies I buy from.

After a brush with the counterfeit side of the health food market (see my other review) I emailed the store before purchasing to ensure they could vouch for the authenticity of their products, to which I got a positive reply.

As I'm currently abroad (not UK) I ordered a bulk purchase of coconut sugar, of which I use a lot, and some other bits and bops. Very pleased with the prices and quick postage/shipment but much less pleased with the quality of the sugar. I usually switch between buying three different high street brands and though their slight differences they all seem to be the real thing. What I received this morning is however completely different.

First of all, when opening the packet it had many big lumps indicating moisture. What wasn't in lumps was somehow a different texture to my usual brands though hard to describe as I've run out of anything to compare it with.

Second, when pouring the contents into an airtight container it had none of the pleasant caramel aroma I'm used to.

Third and most indicative is the taste. Absolutely none of the lovely fullness or richness or caramelly taste you get from coconut sugar. Instead it leaves a sort of nauseating aftertaste in your throat, as normal sugar (or for me the Turkish/Greek Baklavas) does, if you take it on its own.

Can only test it for adulteration in a lab or maybe if you're diabetic as coconut sugar has a lower glycaemic index compared to cane sugar/corn syrup but for the qualities which we as consumers can test it it comes out bottom of the range.

I guess this is a supplier issue rather than something that is happening at their premises but hope nevertheless that they will follow up on this incident. The coconut sugar export in certain Asian countries exceed the production by over 30% so adulteration is rife in the industry.

Have contacted them to let them know of my disappointment/suspicion but have yet to hear back from them and will update this space when I get a reply.

My advice : If in doubt leave it out!

Just made my second order, good value for money especially if you buy in bulk. Great range of coconut oil. Also like that they seem really honest; they don't try to make unsubstantiated claims about their products like some health food suppliers do and advise you to do your own research about products. Would definitely use again.
