Misleading Product Listing – Not Proprietary, Just Rebranded Generic USB Hubs
I ordered two 4-port USB hubs from Rebuff Reality under the impression that they were proprietary products designed for use with Vive tracker dongles. What I received instead were generic USB hubs, completely unbranded, and identical to versions you can find on sites like LCM Leisure for £4.99. Rebuff charged £16 each, and with shipping, my total came to around £55—that’s over five times the market value.
The packaging was laughable—thin plastic bags with a bit of cardboard inside the bag protecting only the top, bottom, front, and back. The sides were left completely exposed. No branding, no quality packaging, nothing to indicate this was a legitimate, purpose-built VR accessory.
To make things worse, they included a card for a game called Dance Dash—which turned out to just be a free demo available on Steam. It felt more like filler to inflate the perceived value of what was otherwise a low-cost, generic product.
While the hubs do technically work, that doesn’t justify the misleading advertising or the massive markup. I had planned to purchase their tracker straps, but after this experience, I went with EOZ instead—and the difference in quality was night and day.
When I reached out to support, I received a generic response offering a refund only if I returned the item. No acknowledgment of the misleading product listing. No apology. Just “return it if you want your money back.” I decided to keep it since it worked—but I still find the whole situation ridiculous and disappointing.
Bottom line: I won’t be buying from Rebuff Reality again, and I strongly recommend others think twice before doing so.
