The Red Bus scammers?

Red bus unfortunately are scammers. They were offering people new to booking with them a 50% reduction in a transport booking market that has many companies which claim to assist you (eg 12Go asia - which charges you over the odds and then only assists in at best one out of 5 times. - if you are very very lucky) Red Bus fors s good line in perpetrating falsehoods it seems. The 50% off suddenly becomes less than 25%, gets you on its scammers nuisance message list, and then miraculously says the offer has expired or is invalid. Oh yes, that is after it says the 50% deduction will happen on payment by credit card. Such a lying and venal behaviour is rife now in Cambodia. Such a shame. And shameful that the authorities fail to regulate.

Scam. I paid twice for one ticket because some error on the site. File a complaint, make a request for refund. I got full corespondence. I got emails. What they did? Nothing. They send me message that they wont give my money back. Highly not recommend scamers.

COCKROACHES in bus

Do not use this company! Late, dirty, cockroaches in the seats/beds!!!
They provided a wrong pickup address so we were struggling to find them. Then we got told the bus will depart 40 minutes later. When we boarded, we couldn’t get the beds we booked (we wanted single upper ones). 30 minutes in ride the cockroaches started to come out of below the mattresses, the staff said they can’t change our beds and they can’t do anything. After there were so many of them, they took out a bug spray and sprayed them once. It didn’t really help, more cockroaches appeared in every part of the bus. We asked for more spraying but they refused saying it will poison the passengers lol. We arrived also late than we should. Disgusting

SCAM. Avoid.

They sold me tickets to a bus trip that doesn’t exist and left me stranded in Siem Reap. Was promised a refund. Haven’t received it a month on, and now they are claiming the refund has been processed.

redbus.com.kh is as easy and accurate

We are traveling from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. We booked a VET bus through redbus.com.kh. It was the day before the trip and we payed online in USD with credit card and it worked very easily. We could choose our seats and see the various amenities of the bus, which importantly included whether it was air conditioned. The bus company has been great so far (we are half way through the trip). There were a few payment options and the only improvement would have been if we could have payed using PayPal, which was not available. Overall this was easy to use and the VET bus we booked matched the description exactly (down to the photographs included in the description).

I would like to express my profound disappointment

I would like to express my profound disappointment following a recent experience using Redbus services in Cambodia, traveling from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh. A group of us—comprising expats and Cambodian children—had booked boat transport to Sihanoukville that unfortunately ran 1.5 hours late. As a result, through no fault of our own, we missed our scheduled bus.

Upon arriving at the station, we requested to be moved to the next available bus. This seemed like a reasonable request given the circumstances, especially as the next bus was largely empty. To our dismay, not only were we denied this basic flexibility, but we were also required to pay the full fare again.

While I understand that policies need to be in place, surely there should be some consideration for common local issues—like unpredictable boat schedules. What made the experience worse was the treatment we received from the staff: dismissive, unhelpful, and completely lacking in empathy, even as it was clear we were stressed and stranded.

To make matters worse, I have reached out to the company several times following this incident and have yet to receive any form of acknowledgment or response. The complete lack of communication from their side is unacceptable and only adds to the frustration and sense of being let down.

This experience was not only frustrating—it was frankly disheartening. Redbus positions itself as a reliable and customer-friendly platform, but in this instance, the lack of flexibility, poor service, and total radio silence fell far short of those values.

I urge them to reconsider their approach in cases like this, especially when the bus has ample seating and the passengers are clearly not at fault. At the very least, the conduct of the staff should reflect an understanding of the situation and a willingness to help, not hostility.

I hope you will take this feedback seriously and consider improving your customer service response times, training, and ticket flexibility policies in Cambodia.
