Massive $1000 deposit required!!!

Beware of extra costs that are far more than other rental car companies. Redspot charge local drivers, local license holders a humungous $1000 deposit and international driver's just $100 deposit to hire a vehicle. This is an utter joke. Redspot say that this is due to risk. I would have thought that international driver's would have been the higher risk category, driving in unfamiliar environments and with the high number of visas being overstayed, which could impact on car return. This $1000 deposit for local drivers vs $100 for international driver's is a massive and unnecessary barrier for local drivers to be able to access a rental vehicle. Redspot please urgently review this and make access to your rental vehicles fair and stop penalizing access for local license holders. Redspot advertise alot on 2GB Ben Fordham and I thought I would try them out but at $1000 deposit with the car rental costs still on top of that, it is beyond belief when we are already living in a cost of living crisis. With this pitfall and disadvantage for local Australian drivers, 2GB should review their advertising support for Redspot. It is just not fair that an international driver can hire a car with a $100 deposit but as a local drivers I need $1000 deposit!

Travelled to Brisbane from Wellington…

Travelled to Brisbane from Wellington end of June. Due to weather our flight was cancelled until next day. Tried multiple time via phone and email to let Redspot about what was happening. After finally getting through on the phone, the young lady was very helpful and advised they would update for the next day. Once I had new flight info to call them back so someone would be waiting at International terminal for us to get the car. Right up until we took off no one answered the phone, so once we arrived we had to make our way over to domestic terminal to get the car.
Took about 30mins in line for our turn. Got everything sorted, they were accommodating and we were on our way.
Returned car to international terminal at end of holiday and headed home. Two weeks later the security deposit is still on hold on the credit card. Emails and unanswered phone calls god knows how long before I see my money again!!!
Will not be using or recommending this company.

Worst car rental ever!

Awful car, gave it to us with a flat tire. We drove 1km and we couldn’t drive any further because of it, we called and told them. Guess what? They blamed it on us and refused to pay for a new tire. In the backseat, the pullout table opened so that there was a drink holder. In the drink holder was old, crusty food. Because there was food there were ants!!! We had ants just roaming around in there! Worst rental car I’ve ever been in! TRUST ME, DO NOT HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY!!! 😡🤮

Well priced

Well priced, friendly staff. When I went to pick up the car the computer system was down Australia wide and the staff members were so apologetic for the situation.

Checkin process needs improvement

The car has been perfect very good car and very reasonably priced. If there is anything that could be improved its the check in process as we got there then had to wait 30-45 mins in a que to get our car which wasn’t ideal especially with a tired 2 year old. Staff were very nice and helpful though they were doing their best

Great service at the front desk

The gentlemen who we dealt with at the desk, was wonderful. He was clear, concise and efficient, but also very friendly, with a lovely smile.
The process was great too.
But, the car we were upgraded to had not been valeted! It was very dirty and it was very disappointing. I wanted to complain there and then, but my husband, who was very unwell, didn't want to make a fuss.

Cairns check in was understaffed on…

Cairns check in was understaffed on arrival with one operator, however the team recovered with an additional two operators some time later…it was very long wait for me however I feel sorry for the line up behind me. The remainder of the experience was great.
Great service, great vehicle and I would give it another go.

What a nightmare…

What a nightmare…. The car rental itself was fine (other than the car not being full of fuel when we collected which wasn’t an issue). My wife left her phone in the car accidentally. We were contacted by red spot who pointed this out for which we were grateful. As she needs it for work, we asked for it to be sent urgently and that we would cover the cost. With no further comms $138NZD was taken from our visa. That was 19 days ago. After chasing them up several times I managed to get them to actually lodge it with Australia post (at least I think…). I was told it would be sent back to us under urgency and that they would refund the money. That was last week Thursday. It is now Wednesday with no Comms, no sign of the phone being sent and no refund. Based on the tracking number, it still appears to be sitting in their office. The customer service is beyond terrible and I’m not sure we will ever see the phone or our holiday photos again. I would avoid this company like the plague. Very dissatisfied! Redspot: Please don’t respond and ask me to contact the customer service team, that is exactly what I have been doing to no avail

Rockhampton Airport staff is efficient

Rockhampton Airport staff is efficient, friendly and helpful. But the second you deal with anyone at head office in Brisbane - it is like you're dealing with a completely different company with the worst customer service with no idea about how their actions shape the customer experience in totality. Even AI chatbots would have been nicer when chasing an invoice for a flat tyre that wasn't even my fault.

Excellent service from the Redspot Brisbane City team! From the warm welcome at pick-up to the easy drop-off, the customer service was exceptional. Everyone was friendly, professional, and made the whole experience smooth and hassle-free. I highly recommend Redspot and will definitely rent with them again.

Had an amazing experience with Jo and…

Had an amazing experience with Jo and the team at Redspot.

Jo was super helpful and caring with helping us get a car within minutes of closing and we actually extended the car rental twice, really nice clean new cars.

The process to book and pick up was super easy - Jo was always a call or email away.

We've ordered a car from Redspot twice in the last month, highly recommend!!!
