Truly wondering if Regain is a scam

On Regain you pay a monthly subscription which gives you and your partner access to one weekly session. This is the only product available, meaning if you are busy one week you are paying for nothing. If your therapist is busy one week, you are again paying for nothing.

Even worse, the process to invite your partner to couples therapy does not work and Regain sends dead links that leads to nothing.

My partner has not been able to sign on for several days so we are currently being charged for a service we cannot access. I have inquired about a refund Thursday May 30th. It is now Tuesday June 4th and while their website say the respond within 24 hours on weekdays I have yet to hear back from them.

Monthly subscription pricing just does…

Monthly subscription pricing just does not work for this type of service, so avoid. Why? In a nutshell:
you pay for the month ahead (the marketing strongly promotes this as being one session per week). BUT the reality is all about who you are paired with (random allocation of therapist, anywhere) and their schedule; plus your own schedule challenges.
My wife and I are in the UK, both work full time; the therapist we got was somewhere in the Caribbean, so timezone issues contributed.
You can't book multiple sessions ahead, it's one by one.
Our therapist was nice enough, but there was no structure at all so it felt it could be endless. The whole experience was just very disappointing frankly, won't do it again (like this) and can't recommend.

Deep gratitude to Dr Harig and Regain team

My husband and I hit a rough patch in our relationship, but thanks for Dr Harig at Regain we were able to learn to communicate better, appreciate each other more and reconnect at much deeper level. We were able to reignite our passion for each other as we did when we first met. We cannot thank Dr Harig enough and so happy we had found our wise, patient and caring therapist.

Really Poor Customer Service.

Really poor customer service. They won't even do a refund even when I cancelled before starting any sessions. Wish I checked the reviews first before signing up

The poor reviews are sadly accurate

We should have read all of the reviews before signing up. As many have already mentioned, it is nearly impossible to find a therapist on this platform, and further, one who will actually show up. Ultimately, you end up paying for a month of sessions and you are lucky to even find a decent therapist who has availability. We paid for a month of sessions and of course never had an actual appointment. We are attempting to receive a refund, but don’t have high hopes for one.

the worst possible services/ Issue solved quickly

the worst possible services! they removed my profile including all of my data and they canceled my session with my Therapist without letting me know and without my agreement.
I sent two emails to support and they didn't even replied !
I still had two weeks time with my Therapist.

Support team contacted me and solved my problem quickly, I do appreciate Jazzmyn from Betterhelp for providing a solution quickly to get this problem resolved.

Better Help (Regain) has been a…

Better Help (Regain) has been a wonderful tool for me and my husband. We have had individual as well as joint therapy sessions. Our therapist worked with us on a variety of things and has been awesome at helping us progress towards our goals. I 100% recommend giving them a chance if considering therapy.

The Best Example of Dark Patterning

It is apparent that Regain uses dark patterning in it's UX design to force people into a recurring sales (membership) program. I had wanted to purchase an exact amount of visits because I was dealing with a specific issue, I did not want ongoing therapy. I was very careful about purchasing 4 visits and making sure I wasn't signing up for a membership. Regardless, I was charged another $342 in addition to the $342 I paid initially for 4 visits. As of yet, I have only had 3 visits, but have to cancel my account to try to get back today's charge of $342. My therapist was great and I liked her, but this issue got resolved fast and I didn't need or want ongoing therapy. This is a very shady business practice of Regain, their website is deliberately designed to force you into a monthly charge program, no matter how much you try to avoid it.

I was matched with a great therapist

I was matched with a great therapist. He actually feels perfect for us. The therapist has been great at working with our schedules and making himself available. Sergio Gueller is great! I appreciated the financial assistance discount.

Feels like a scam

I signed up with Regain as my partner and I were looking into couples therapy and upon first glance I thought Regain seemed decent. When signing up with Regain, I felt uncomfortable having to pay up front first before being matched with a therapist. I got in touch with the Regain team requesting a refund as I hadn’t used the service, nor did I want to any more. I had a confirmation email saying that my query had been logged and that someone will get back to me within a business day. A few hours later, a woman from the team named Krystine emailed me to say that of course there’d be some trepidation, but nonetheless if I still felt the service was no longer needed then all I needed to do was reply back to the email thread requesting the refund. I did so but heard nothing back. I messaged the team from the Regain app and this time I didn’t get an email to say that my message had been received. A few hours later I check to see that I’ve suddenly been matched a therapist. I messaged the Regain team from the app again to say that I don’t want to be matched to a therapist and that I’d want a refund. Still no confirmation to say that they’ve received my query and that they will get back to me. It’s frustrating as I feel like I’ve been conned out of my money for something that I longer wanted to use.

Please avoid using Regain unless you absolutely have to. The way they require payment first before getting you connected with a therapist seems like a scam - especially with other reviews stating that the therapists seem to cancel sessions out of the blue.

Update: I’ve now received notification that a full refund will be given. Let’s hope they stick to their word!

Charging and providing ZERO therapy

It only scheduled 1 session for couples therapy, when the therapist they chose reached us. After the first session the therapist just said 'hi' once and never tried to reach or arrange anything else.
It was a very critical time in our relationship and we feel we were just forgotten. Plus, they continued charging mercilessly even when we weren't even using the service at all. We have been charged $1320 for having just one and only 1 session.
The worst part, we were both in a really bad place and with the lack of interaction from the therapist, we forgot about this site, just to discover they have been charging even when none of their services are being used, and none of their therapist are working to help us.
Seriously! You are dealing with people with mental health issues, and your way of treating them is by leaving them in the dark with no contact plus charging them like crazy?

I’ve had tons of therapy session from…

I’ve had tons of therapy session from psychiatrists, therapist and so on since 16y/o. I’m 23 now and by far, the best therapist I met is from this platform.
I’ve been using this platform for 2yrs now and I cannot thank this platform more.
Betterhelp and Regain (I use both) really helped me go through hard time of life with every penny counting-it is very cost&time efficient.

£240 for 20mins therapy.

The subscription method doesn’t work. We are ending up paying £240 for 20 minutes of couples therapy, through no fault our own. It’s a result of constant delay in replying to communication, therapist not turning up to our session and the availability being too few and far between. It’s a huge stress to ensure we’re fitting the four sessions in before the bill rolls over to the next month. When selecting preference for therapists it’s all about the type of style or expertise of the therapist, who they are, and not availability. I requested a different therapist and their availability is not compatible either (we are offering 3 hours 4 days a week, it’s not a stretch).
I contacted regain to request a refund, they offered finding another therapist but have not replied in over 24 hours.

Keep looking

We paid for two months of regain. During that time there are weeks you're unable to schedule with your counselor, and you just eat the money. If you cancel early (we canceled three weeks before the end of our renewal) we were blocked from switching counselors and could not see our own. So we are truly paying for 4 weeks of therapy for one session, which was $300. I don't recommend this company

Ease of use and great therapist

I loved that I could select the qualities I was looking for in a therapist and then get matched with one that has those qualities. Our match with Mary is a great fit, and such a relief after trying several therapists that I just didn't connect with (in person). I was both doubtful and hopeful about trying online therapy, but I am so glad that I did. The intake process was very easy and the app is also easy to understand and use, even for a non-technical person like me!

Good idea in practice but it didn’t…

Good idea in practice but it didn’t work for us. It was difficult to arrange an appointment with the therapist due to the time difference and on the second appointment the therapist was a no show, with no message and no cancellation. Shockingly unprofessional. As a result, we managed one session during the month’s subscription which made this a very expensive and inefficient service.
