No support after purchase

No support after purchase. After moving to online-only, communication has been very poor. I received one partial reply about a warranty issue, but my requests for a PDF manual and information on replacement parts were ignored. Follow-up emails went unanswered. I wouldn’t trust this company again.

Customer service is an absolute…

Customer service is an absolute disgrace-literally the worst I've ever encountered anywhere. Bought an e4+ escooter and the throttle needs replacing. Contacted via website numerous times without the courtesy of a response, told on Facebook that someone would look at my issue after me leaving several negative comments and weeks later, I've heard nothing. Got an expensive escooter gathering dust in my garage. Shocking and wouldn't recommend at all

Don’t ever buy these products

Dear Anaconda Team,

I am writing to formally express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the entire experience I have faced regarding the scooter purchased from your store on 22nd March.

Since purchase, the scooter has consistently failed to perform as expected. Despite being fully charged for 5–6 hours, the scooter would only run for approximately 16–17 km before running out of charge, and on multiple occasions, it stopped abruptly while riding, posing serious safety risks.

To summarise the series of events that followed:

Initial Reporting: I first visited your store to report the issue but was told the concerned person was not available and was asked to return the following week.

Repeated Visits and No Action: Upon returning, I was again told the concerned person was not available. I requested a callback when they were available, but no call was ever received.

Multiple Follow-Ups: After waiting, I called again and was told that an email had been sent to Reid (the supplier) and I would need to wait for their response. When I asked for a turnaround time, your team stated that they had no control over that.

Store Manager Involvement: Upon further follow-up, I requested to speak to a manager who informed me they had sent another reminder email to Reid. I suggested they escalate the matter directly by phone, but was told no phone contact was available.

Clear Negligence Admitted: During one of these follow-ups, your team revealed that for some time, emails were being sent to an incorrect email address for Reid, which directly delayed any response or action. Only after correcting this error was it mentioned that Reid may now respond.

Public Review Required for Any Action: After receiving no response, I left a Google review to bring attention to the matter. Only after this did I receive few calls from Anaconda offering to repair the scooter.

Scheduling Issues: Due to my personal responsibilities, including childcare, I requested a suitable drop-off date. I was repeatedly told that the technician is only available on certain days and no flexibility could be provided.

Accident Due to Scooter Failure: While trying to bring the scooter for repair, it malfunctioned again, causing a fall near Expresso Inn which affected the scooter. I am Okay if you want to view the cctv footage of this area to see how badly ut malfunctioned

Acceptance for Repair: Despite explaining the incident and condition of the scooter at the time, your team accepted the scooter for repair.

No Proper Handover Acknowledgment Provided: At the time of handing over the scooter, I requested a written acknowledgment and photographs to record the condition in which the scooter was handed over. Your team refused, stating that "we have CCTV footage" and that no written record would be provided.

Sudden Warranty Void Decision: After all of this, I was informed today that the warranty is void, and Anaconda will not proceed with any repairs.

If the condition of the scooter was such that you now claim it is outside warranty, why was it accepted for repair at all?Why was there no assessment communicated at the time of handover? Refusing to provide an acknowledgment or photograph of the scooter at the time of handover is completely unprofessional and only adds further questions on how this matter is being handled.

The entire experience reflects:

Failure of product performance from the start.

Repeated negligence in handling my complaint.

Miscommunication and wrong actions by your staff.

Delay caused due to Anaconda sending emails to an incorrect address.

Failure to maintain basic customer service standards.

Complete lack of accountability when the product’s ongoing issues led to further damage.

I now formally request:

Full repair or replacement of the scooter under warranty.

Immediate written clarification on why this repair was initially accepted and then later denied.

Formal acknowledgment of the service failures that have occurred.

A clear written plan on how Anaconda will now resolve this issue without further delay.

This is my final attempt to resolve this matter amicably. If I do not receive a satisfactory resolution, I will be left with no option but to lodge a formal complaint with Consumer Affairs and other relevant bodies.

No support after purchase

Since transitioning to online-only, this company is useless.

They replied appropriately to my email about a possible warranty issue. But they repeatedly neglected my request for a PDF manual, or advice on where to purchase replacement parts.

They literally replied once with a partial answer, and then ignored any further emails. All I did was politely request a copy of the manual and ask where I can buy parts.

Wouldn't trust them again.

I purchased a Reid Cycles E-Trail 2.0…

I purchased a Reid Cycles E-Trail 2.0 eBike Charcoal on the 4th Nov 2023 in less than 3 months the mid drive motor started an annoying click whilst pedaling.
The Balcatta store from which I purchased the bike eventually agreed to replace the Ananda mid drive motor.
The store closed down later in 2024 before the motor arrived from the UK.
I contacted the Richmond Vic shop, which organised to have the motor installed by 99Bikes in Osborne Park WA once the motor arrived.
3 months after the motor was installed the motor started the same annoying clicking sound but 10 times worse.
I would not recommend purchasing an ebike from Reid cycles.

Spent good money and still no bike??

I ordered my bike back in January and paid express shipping as I was eager to take advantage of this good weather and ride with my family. A few days had past and I noticed no email correspondence RE delivery so I emailed the company myself for an update.

I was then advised in the reply that my purchase was a "pre order". I pointed out that this was not the case on the website at the point of sale and still looking back in January there was NO mention of pre order just a straight purchase! The reply to this was "sorry for the misconception" and to refresh the website which now reflects "pre order" further to this email I was advised that the expected shipment to the warehouse was the 16th of February and the bike will be dispatched 2-3 business days from there.

We are now Tuesday the 25th of February. No bike, no email to advise where said bike is. I have sent further follow up emails and left voicemails on the number provided with no reply or phone call back.

This is poor poor customer service and I would not recommend this company to anybody. Fair enough, things happen, delays happen but update your customers?! Dont leave it up to us to do the running around and investigating of your stock! I've spent good money on a bike I do not have. Disgusting!!

Sold as a Samsung battery but it's an inferior Chinese battery.

I bought an E-Trail 1.0 eBike believing it was sold with a reputable Samsung battery pack, as advertised.
After research, I found it was a generic Chinese pack with Chinese cells. I'm sure we've seen the videos and warnings of lithium batteries exploding with thermal runaway.
See the attached images where they admitted they weren't Samsung cells.
After much ado regarding the false advertising, I returned the ebike to the store for a refund. Well, it was a hassle to get the money after dropping the bike off, weeks later.
If you have any Reid electric bicycle, you will most likely have the same battery and can return the bike under false advertising.

I wish I could give 0 stars - do not buy

I wish I could give 0 stars. DO NOT BUY THESE BIKES. Purchased one that had a faulty crank and the pedal fell out after 3 short rides. When I contacted Reid they blamed it on my assembly and refused to help. Terrible, terrible quality product. The only thing worse is their shocking customer service.

Horrible, deceitful company.

Horrible company. Bought a lemon of an electric scooter from Anaconda. Anaconda will not honor warranty unless I bring the broken device back to Darwin! And Reid screwed around for 5 months, then charged me for warranty parts THEN they did not ship those parts after 2 more months of waiting! TODAY, after almost 7 months of waiting cancelled my paid for warranty parts order. The device lasted barely 4 months - now it is a throw away item. The staff are rude & incompetent.

Chasing refund…

My son purchased a lemon if a bike on 25/3. He had it back twice to be repaired and the third time it broke he returned it back to the store 17/5 and was told refund in 4 business days. It is now 13/6 and no sign of refund, store just refers us to the online support (no phone number). Online support does not respond! This company is such a scam, do not touch!

Don't care about customers

Less than a year after opening the Ascot Vale store they quietly close it, and expect you to haul your bike across town as they won't refund a prepaid service plan. Blacktop 2 ebike generally poor quality, battery range dropped from 60 to 30km in less than a year. Never again.

Horrendous Customer ServiceI from Reid Cycles…

I purchased an ebike from Reid Cycles on line and was directed to pick it up in Stanmore Sydney
When I took delivery I noticed the rear break wasn't working as the front break I was told by the manager Tyson that it would come good after a few pumps Well it didn't in fact it stoped working altogether It took me two weeks wait for a complimentary serviceI arrived 10 am as advised and I could wait for the service After 2.5 hours and told someone hadn't turned up to work and someone else was coming I eventually was told all was good and ready to go When I tried the break it was the same ,when I questioned the service mechanic he replied "Oh well it must be the cable " I then asked when I could expect a new cable I was advised they only order parts on Sundays so wait and they'd get back to me No call so I contacted the ? manager Tyson who said I guess Ill have to replace the entire brake unit
Five days later when I again called Stanmore shop I was advised to contact Customer Care in Melbourne and the nice guy Ollie said he would also contact them and ask they call me today I also called 4 times and was put through to 4 different shops each time NO CALL from Customer Care ??

Terrible brakes

Cruiser bike looks good but practicality is poor. Brakes are terrible. Would not want to try and stop in an emergency. I thought maybe this was a manufacturing error but when I contacted them they stated this was standard and if I wanted better brakes I should have bought a more expensive bike. Would not buy from here again.

Reid Cycles Blacktop 2.0 E-Bike

I purchased this e-bike about 4 weeks ago, and thought now would be a good time to offer a review.

I bought this bike because I have been a cycle commuter in Brisbane for several years, and finally got bored of the hills on my rides in and out (Ferny Grove to the CBD) so decided to by an e-bike.

It was a great decision - I've used the bike 4 days a week since purchase (as opposed to 2 days a week on my old bike), and I no longer dread the first 3KM of my ride.

There are a few areas that Reid should look at for the next iteration.

Claimed battery range of 80km is probably only likely on a flat with level 1 assistance - my daily ride is ~38km, and I use the full range of assistance levels, mainly 1-2, and the battery is normally down to about 30 - 35% when I finish the ride home. I'd say 60km for a Brisbane commute would be about right.

The Good
The bike is a joy to ride. It feels almost the same as my old bike, accounting for the additional weight of battery and motor.
The placement of the motor over the crank makes the assistance feel like a part of riding and also means handling is largely unaffected. I had also tried the Blacktop 1 with a rear hub motor, and that felt like you were being pushed, this (generally) feels like normal peddling - but easier.
Makes all the hills a breeze.
Has increased my riding days for commuting.

The mid
The assistance level on the motor can be slow to change up/down - I've worked it into my riding style, but its still mildly irritating
Sometimes a long freewheel after a high assistance level (i.e. downhill from a steep climb) the motor acts as a brake on peddling.
My average speed on this constantly brushes against the maximum allowed by QLD law for e-transport, and this sometimes causes the assistance to drag on peddling when around the 25-25.5km mark. This isn't consistent, which makes it more annoying.

The Poor
No inbuilt frame mount for bottle and accessory cages. This is a MASSIVE oversight in a country where personal hydration during exercise is a potential health risk.
Not only that, but the frame tubing doesn't appear to fit to any standard sizing, and this has made finding a bottle mount more complex than it needed to be, and for me I have a sub-optimal solution which mars the lines of the bike.
This omission is the main reason I'm giving the product a 4* review - I can't imaging machining 2 holes and adding cage mounts would contribute that much to costs. This should be addressed as a priority for the next iteration of the design.

If the chain hops off, the gap between pedal and motor casing is exactly as wide as the chain so it can be hard to pull the chain out if it gets stuck there.

Conclusion
Aside from one big and a few minor niggles, this is a great bike if you are looking to ditch or the car or train or to mix up your morning commute.
It won't take all the strain - you still have to pedal! - but it offers a genuine alternative to both modes of commuting, you get to exercise and let's face it - riding a bike is fun!
