I strongly regret using Remitly.
I attempted to transfer a simple $100 payment, and nearly two weeks later the transaction had not completed (had to cancel it and redo it many times). Throughout the process, Remitly repeatedly created obstacles, requested additional steps, and made what should have been a straightforward transfer unnecessarily complicated.
The most troubling part is that Remitly withdrew the money from my bank account even though the recipient's bank did not accept the transfer. Despite this, I received no notification that the transfer had failed or encountered a problem. I only learned about it when the recipient informed me, which was both embarrassing and frustrating.
Customer service has been equally disappointing. Different representatives have provided conflicting information, making it difficult to understand what is actually happening with the transaction. While the staff is generally polite, their assistance has not been effective, and communication is often challenging.
I've spent considerable time chasing answers, and the overall experience has been extremely frustrating. I ended up going to my usual bank to make the transfer, and within 24 hours, everything was completed.
I will never use Remitly again. Never.
