Paid in advance but received no service.
I arrived at the rental desk on time and was refused the car due to an International Driving Permit requirement that was not clearly shown during booking. In the app, the “What to bring” section lists ID, driving licence and credit card, but does not mention this requirement.

This information is hidden in separate terms, which is not acceptable for something that determines whether you can receive the service.

As a result, I was left without a car at night with a child and had to rent another vehicle at a much higher price. The company refused to refund and keeps referring to terms and conditions.

Very misleading process and poor customer handling. Important requirements must be clearly visible before payment.

I paid for Rentalcars and company mistakes

When I went to the counter the lady from the rental company said there was no insurance included, but it was included as clearly indicated in conditions. She won’t give me the car without payng 4 times the price of the rental. I chatted whit a Rentalcars operator who told the rental company was right. I did not continue the rental procedure, and I had to pay the first 3 days of rental. The day after, sure that I was right, I chatted with another operator who said I was right, the insurance was included. I asked Rentalcars to refund the three days of the rental and also the taxi fees I had to pay because of the inconvenient, and they gave me nothing. They said I should have call some telephone number when I still was with the lady of the counter…and not proceed by chat. Obviously the first operator I wrote to when I still was at the counter, did not mention it…., in the end I got no refund. I had to pay for Rentalcars and for the rental company mistakes (if we are being optimistic, those where mistakes, but who knows….). I wrote to Rentalcars it was not correct and they did not even answer anymore. The company was Klasswagen, agency of Porto Portugal

Very poor customer service and misleading conditions

I am extremely dissatisfied with Rentalcars’ customer service. It is almost impossible to file a complaint. The live chat never opens, and email responses take an unreasonably long time. It feels like their strategy is to make sure you cannot speak to anyone, so you eventually give up and lose your money.

On top of that, the conditions you purchase on Rentalcars do not match the real conditions at the rental desk. In my case, the local company (MEX, Riviera Maya, Mexico) demanded an extra charge that was four times the total amount I had already paid for a 7-day rental (eventough I actually paid for that service through Rentalcars)

As a result, I could not even rent the car, and my vacation was seriously affected.

I do not recommend using Rentalcars unless you are willing to risk unexpected charges and zero support when things go wrong.

I made a booking with rentalcars

I made a booking with rentalcars. I was late to pick up car and I tried to call the rental company (Europcar) who never picked up. So I contacted rentalcars to let them know of my delay. This was through chat. They said they also had tried Europcar but no answer and confirmed Europcar policy was to keep car only for 59 minutes. They suggested to make a new booking with them for the same dates and to let them know new reservation number so they could process cancellation and a full refund. They specificalIy told me not to cancel directly with Europcar otherwise I would only get partial refund. I asked many many times all the steps required and timings. In both chats they completely misled me as they did not tell me that first they had to contact Europcar to confirm I was a no show, they forgot to tell me Europcar could take up to 7 working days to reply and after that, if they reply, it will be another 7 working days to get the refund. The operators I chatted with forgot to relay to me this essential piece of information and I later discovered Europcar holds the car for 24 hours! So I made new reservation, I paid much more for same dates and I am so still out of pocket as NO NEWS from them. They even had the courage to ask me to rate them the highest possible score after they misled and misinformed me. In the survey I ticked the box to get transcript of the chats which was never sent to me. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. It still makes me sick to my stomach that they can trick people this way. I will NEVER use them again.

Don't use this company!

Don't use this company!
I was delayed by an hour and when I tried to pick up my car in the airport, I was refused because I was more than 59 mins. late. Not only did I not have a car, but they also kept the whole amount. They cover themselves by Terms & Conditions where in the bottom of page 92 it states you will be denied the car and also no refund if you are more than 59 mins. late.
Totally insane - especially in an airport.
I will newer use Rentalcars.com again or Booking.com (who are the owners of this hustle business)

They cancelled my reservation

They cancelled my reservation just before my arrival despite i called the office 2 hours before my pick up time to confirm the reservation. On arrival they said the system cancels the reservation automatically regardless i had paid in full for the 18 days . They offered another car with a price 4 times higher than my booking. Terrible customer service, left me stranded at the airport. Refusing refund.

SERIOUS WARNING against rentalcars.com

SERIOUS WARNING:

Lej IKKE bil hos rentalcars.com. Do NOT rent your car at rentalcars.com.

I have turned them into the police and consumer ombudsman. I recommend everyone to do the same!
They have just cheated me for at huge amount.

I rented a car through rentalcars.com to pick up in Copenhagen Airport. I booked online and paid the full amount up front. I received written confirmation from rentalcars.com that my car was reserved for me with information on where to pick up etc.
Then the day after, I receive an e-mail from rentalcars.com that the price on the car that I had already paid and already received confirmation on, had suddenly gone up (2000 danish crowns more). They told me that if I didn’t pay the higher amount they would annull my reservation!
I of course denied and explained that a deal had already been made, I had paid everything and had received confirmation.
They did didn’t care and then annulled my reservation!

Rentalcars.com WILL scam you! Do NOT trust rentalcars.com.

They cancelled the booking with only 1 hour in advance

They confirmed the booking and 12 hours later (1 hour before our booking) they cancelled it by email, they didn´t phone in order to be sure that we were not going to pick the car up.... this was their communication the same day at 9 AM.

Dear María ,
As it’s an extremely busy time of year, we’ve been unable to book your car in Bratislava Airport on 26-05-2024 10:00. So, we’ve cancelled your request, and we haven’t taken any money.

If you’d like to visit Rentalcars.com again, I’m confident that you’ll find another car that’s just right for you.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Yours sincerely,
Jacob

Still 500$ from me and refuse to refund (

Booked a car with them in Houston. I’ve been a client of Booking.com for years and this is just terrible experience with renalcars.com!!! I’ve arrived at the rental car company Alamo at Houston airport with my partly prepaid booking from rentalcars.com. They was not able to process my credit card even I’ve had enough money on the account. When I ask to cancel my booking they told me I need to contact rentalcars.com. Now they telling they will not refund me anything. This just nonsense!

Cockroach infested hire car.

Hired a car through these people who booked it with Budget.
The car was cockroach infested which we did not realise when we collected it. But when one ran over my wife we started to look. It was infested and even after spraying they still came back. No compensation even though we hardly used the car due to the issue.

Lost 300 € - Never again

It's 3 months after the car rental and I still don't have a correct invoice.

First, instead of automatically sending the invoice, I had to explicitly ask for it. They said it would take 20 days. They exceed the time limit and when I finally got the invoice, the address and VAT number that I requested was missing. So, I asked for a new one and they said, sorry, we cannot do that, try filling a complaint. When I tried to file a complaint using the link they provided, they couldn't find my reservation.

Second, all the post service customer interaction is trough an online chat where they can't solve anything, they just relay the information to somebody that hopefully would solve the issue. The whole process was painfully slow. I lost count of how many interactions I had to go through. If you want to complaint by phone they only have available a added value phone number, therefore, you have to pay from your own pocket if you want to solve a mistake they made.

Third, I booked a car rental plus insurance and made only one payment directly to rantalcars. However, the invoice that I got was without the insurance part and they said I had to ask for a second invoice directly to the insurance company (something they don't warn about to begin with).

Finally, as the car rental was for a business trip and I needed the invoice with the correct data to get refunded, the consequence was I lost almost 300€ because they couldn't provide something as basic a a properly filled invoice in due time.

Luckily, I had no issues with the car while using it but, considering how hard it is to get an invoice, I wonder what nightmare I would have to go trough if something had gone wrong during the car rental. Long story short, I will never again use rentalcars and I advice everybody to not do so.

Charged me 5 times for 1 rental

Rentalcars.com charged me 5 times (4 duplicate charges) for the same reservation I made. That's over $400 extra they charged! I needed that money for my trip starting the next day. Rentalcars.com said they would not reverse/refund the duplicate charges unless I mailed them the bank statement showing the dup charges. I'm in the US and they are in London, England. Do you know how long that is going to take? They can rob me in minutes; but take weeks to correct their mistake and give me back my money. They suck!

Misleading site, no refund.

I reserved a Jeep Renegade for 3 days. Online was specified that I would be given that car or similar one. When I called to confirm the Union car Athens informed me that I will receive a Seat Arona which is not like my original request. I refused and their customer service proposed to cancel the order online, which I did. Finally, I asked to be refunded but they refused. Since the reservation also was cancelled, I didn’t get any car or money back.

I’m an experienced traveler renting…

I’m an experienced traveler renting cars all over the world even in countries which internationally are not confirmed like Western Sahara.
Never I had any problem paying the deposit of a rental car with my 4 ! VISA and Mastercards.
In this case I rented the car in the internet over the platform rentalcars.com at an exceptional cheap price and PAYED with my VISA card like several times before.
But when I landed in Croatia and wanted to pick up the car the employee at the desk of okmobility (partner of rentalcars) told me he can’t accept any of my cards because he couldn’t block the deposit …
I told him to try it with my cards because I know you can block the deposit on my cards. but he denied to even try it.
He said only „creditcards“ (America Express, Barclays, …) are accepted to pay the deposit …
This was written down, down small below in their conditions …
In other words you can pay the rental fee with VISA or Master but not the deposit and it’s not clearly mentioned and not explained.
Why if he’s a serious business man?
There’s is absolutely no advantage or more security of the credit card - only when your thinking about playing some tricks over your client …
Then I also offered him the deposit in cash but he denied it …
So I was there standing with my 11 year old daughter and he gave a f…
Then he came with an “offer”: I could get the car for a price 5 times higher and no deposit needed - and surprise … this I could pay with my VISA cards.
So there was no other option for me because all the neighbor car rentals are doing the same rip-off in the airport Split Croatia I had to accept this scam …
When I picked up the car it was clear to me why this strange behavior:
All cars of the company had scratches, bumps and dents. Many of them were looking like „made“ and not from normal car usage.
So maybe the idea behind it is like sucking the damages the client has not found or filmed when pick up from the credit card.
I can not find any other explanation.
rental cars and okmobility never again.
