Miami intl airport car rental scam
Booked car rental through orbitz paid $247.67, got to the counter to pickup the car and they said we owe $650. It advertised being at Miami intl airport but actually off site. Once they get you there and feel like they have you they try to extort you. Happened to 2 other people there at the same time. "Car rental consolidated" has like 10 off-brand rental companies but it's really just one company that commits fraud. Shows up on orbitz, priceline, all of the sites. Buyer beware. If you're planning a trip to Miami be very careful which car rental company you choose! We thought we were saving money but it blew up in our face. Cost WAY more and was a nightmare.
Never ever again. Fraudsters forcing extra insurance on you.
I rented the car in October for a week from Monday to Saturday in Tampa for about $100. When I arrived, I saw the sign on the counter that you are required to have $500k liability insurance which I was hoping to decline. In 25 years of renting cars I've never had to purchase additional insurance. My Geico insurance was always good enough. The lady proceeded to look through my insurance card with a fine comb and even asked me to download the app so she can further investigate the insurance details. Then she stated that I can either cancel the reservation or purchase their insurance at $30 a day (almost $1k a month). The car was now $250 for the week. I had to be at work in an hour so I purchased it although they were forcing me to do it. I would never rent from these fraudsters again in a million years.
The number one Car rental company for me.
I have used Rent a Wreck car rental for 5 years. I love this company because of their excellent customer care and service. I have love everything about this company, but most of all the people who have helped me rent a great car over the past 5 years. The same people are there that I met on my first car rental. They are Trish, Rosali and Jen. I feel that I have a close friend or family when I call them. They work with integrity and always do their best to make sure I have the perfect car for my needs at a very reasonable price. I would not go anywhere else to rent a car. Today I had Trish and Jen help me with my reservation. They took much time helping me with directions to my location leaving from the airport. They are the best!
They unfortunately kept my money, but I kept my peace of mind
I traveled to Chicago Midway with my family (wife and 2 children both under 5 years old) with hopes of renting a car to visit family and attend a wedding. I booked a car via a third party company (Expedia). Although, I had never heard of the company, I was initially sold by an affordable price and decent reviews. However, my first qualm is that, and perhaps this is an issue with the Expedia, it falsely stated that Rent-a-Wreck was at Midway, it is NOT. On arrival, I noticed my email stating that I had to call a shuttle driver, which I did. I was told that the driver would arrive in 25 mins and wait for the driver on a nearby street corner (outside of the airport). I waited with my family on a street corner for approximately 30 mins, called Rent-a-wreck to inquire about the status of our shuttle but was abruptly told that “there’s a lot of traffic so I’ll have to wait”. Although it’s challenging to wait on a street corner with kids, I decided to reman patient for the driver. Around 45 minutes I called again and the operator at Rent-a-Wreck started raising his voice telling me that “there’s a lot of traffic in Chicago, there’s nothing I can do about that”. I understand the traffic, I’m from Chicago. However, I am a customer that is paying for a service and since I had already been waiting for some time with my younger kids on a street corner, I decided to cancel. The operator told me, “you can but you’re not going to get your money back”. I decided to cancel because the service I received up to the point was a red flag, especially when traveling with young children. The operator immediately hung up on me. In full disclosure, I never ended up renting the car but the customer service was awful. I felt that if I am getting treated like this BEFORE I rent the car, I can only imagine what things will be like once I get the car. Also, I did not want to take a chance of the shuttle driver not being able to get me and my family from Rent-a-Wreck back to the airport on time for my return flight. I ended up paying nearly twice as more unfortunately for another rental company. Overall, if the operator handled my experience better, I would’ve considered waiting longer but the customer service alone was a major turnoff. So much so, that I was willing to take the loss.
Bad experience in Tromso
We hired a car in Tromso and it was the worst experience in my life. Let's start with the reservation made in January. It was not keep, so when I wrote asking if everything was set, They answered me saying there is not a reservation on your name. Not a big deal :we agreed on a type of car (Ocean Fisker) and a fair price. At the arrival they said to us that the ocean Fisker was out of order and they gave us a Land Rover Evoque: worst car ever. But this is not the reason of my one star rating. The car it was making a very annoying noises from the fro the front wheel. But the baddest thing the car has not a working A/C. Well, it is normal thinking thea in Tromso the A/C it is not imprtant: well, it was. So we had to drive with windows open and the noise from the wheel. Let get to the point then: when I refered all those things to the the guy at the reception He answered that the mechanic said the A/C was fine (how many way do you Know to let the A/C works?) and not a word about the wheel. But the things that made me furious was that the guy said I probably Know about cars less than you. It was a very bad bad experience, even because the guy was Italian as us. No more with them
Ruined vacation
To begin with, they mistook our airport and had to wait more than half hour for them to bring the Toyota nine seated van while waiting under the pouring rain. Afterwards, the Norwegian driver brought a torn-down, oxidized and ruined van which had torn lining on the inside along with a used and disgusting cloth and a terrible smell.
We called the place to complain and they denied the return of the 2.400 euros. Our main concern however, was if it would last through the thousands of km we where hoping on traveling during our two week stay.
All in all, a horrible way to start our long awaited trip I wish I could show pictures.
Worst experience ever
Worst experience ever, bad customer service, employees have no respect for customers, more concerned about their own personal life at work making us wait for him to finish on his cell phone. Treating me like my money no good nowhere else, felt humiliating, but had no other options due to my travel hours.

It’s been over 30 days and I haven’t received my $250 security deposit yet. I’ve called already five times and they told me to call them back to follow up. Very disappointed experience. I’m not planning to rent a car ever again from this company.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM DO NOT COME HERE!!
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM DO NOT COME HERE!!
I booked through Expedia, once I got to the building they charged about $100 more in just fees alone and a $240 refundable security deposit on top of what I paid through Expedia. I took pictures and videos outside and inside of the car because it had plenty of damage to it before I drove it just in case they try to pull a fast one and say I damaged it even more.
It's been about 2 months and I have not yet received deposit. I've called numerous times and every single response, no matter who I was speaking with said "it's still being processed by our accounting department." I gave them the benefit of the doubt until the last few times I've call. Every time they pulled up my account information they would just hang up. I should have read the reviews about this place before booking with them and most of the reviews say the same thing.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS PLACE

Must use this service
Very friendly employee picked us up from the airport and took us to the office to sign the papers. He explained everything in detail about the contract. We took photos of the car to avoid misunderstandings later on. The car itself was in perfect mechanical condition and spotless. When I called the employees for some questions they always answered the phone immediately. I was a little worried with the delay of the deposit return but that had nothing to do with the office, as the banks take so much time to process the order.(3 weeks for me)
I would highly recommend this service to anyone in need of renting a car as the competition can only see it with binoculars. When I first saw the prices I thought it was a scam but boy was I wrong!!
