Terrible experience, not recommended

I do not recommend anyone to rent from Renthia.

The apartment I got did not match the description, it was disgusting and everything was damaged and worn out, while I paid 6900 SEK a month. I had to clean the apartment for hours as it was so dirty, while the cleaning fee for students is 1925 SEK. It’s important to read the contract carefully, as the cleaning fee is mentioned at the bottom of the contract and you have to pay Renthia an amount on top of the total rent each month.

A day before arrival I should have received a code to get my keys. However, I had not received this code and I couldn’t get in touch with anyone. The hall of the apartment stank, there was mold in the bathroom, there were brown spots on my mattress, there was an insect in the kitchen drawer, the TV and heater didn’t work, I received no towels, and the coat rack and toilet roll holder were unusable due to the damage. The laundry room was disgusting and probably has never been cleaned. The fire alarm also goes off weekly at the most inconvenient times, requiring you to stand outside for an hour.

I sent numerous emails to Renthia asking for help, but they kept ignoring me. It wasn't until I didn't pay my rent that I finally got the minimum help after a month.

Now that I have finally moved out, I didn’t receive my full deposit back, because they deducted the currency transfer fee from the amount to which I am entitled. This should be up to Renthia to pay and not me, but again I’m being ignored.

Renting apartment in Stockholm

I had the best experience renting a place from Renthia in Stockholm. Everything went as planned and the apartment was exactly the same as advertised. I must add that the owner of the building (företagsbostäder) was also very helpful.

Won't ever trust Renthia again

Won't ever trust Renthia again, neither i recommend it to anyone.
1) VERY bad apartment
2) VERY bad service
3) VERY bad planning of the house.

I live in Sweden.
1) Heating didn't work for 3 months. I mentioned it 3 times to the company and the maintenance department told me to wait for the weather to get REALLY cold for the radiators to work. A huge leakage was discovered in December and the radiators had actually never worked. In the meanwhile it was winter, in Sweden.
When the radiators started working, one was working suboptimal (about 50% heating capacity) in comparison to the other. I needed to use an electric radiator ALL winter.

2) The apartment was old. I am not exaggerating AT ALL when I say that I could feel a little breeze coming from the corner where the wall and the floor meet.
Also, I could feel well enough a breeze coming from the around the window as it DIDN'T close well enough.

3) The bathroom was very cold. No heating in there. Came out of the shower and froze.

4) The washing machine was: 3 floors down, no elevator, One washing machine for 1 buildings! ONE! One more could be put and NOT 3 floors down. I am young and could go down 3 floors and then back up, 3 times per washing pass. If it was an older person.

5) The entrance to the building was shared with a restaurant so the hallway smelled almost constantly like food gone bad.

6) The customer service was awful. Answered late among other things.

Perfect for moving in to stockholm

For moving in to stockholm, renthia saved my life.

The system was kind of weird. Because it kind of goes fast in the check in steps. And you kind of sign something without a complete confirmation. But I send a bunch of emails and there where kind to reassure me on the process.

In the end the thing was exactly as advertised.

That being said I understand it could be more pricy than other stuff. And i have not lived the checking out experience yet.

But for the most important part. Which is getting a roof on time this service is just great.

Terrifyingly horrible customer service - Black market property rental

They are very willing to have you sign a contract and the communication is great UNTIL you sign the contract. After that, there is no direct way to contact them and if you send them a support email as they request, they never respond unless it is something they want like cancel your contract.
After my contract was canceled unilaterally by a landlord with no notice period, they told me I would get my deposit back right away. Then they went dark. They have not responded to my multiple inquiries and I have not gotten my deposit back.

In Sweden, they deal with grey/black market properties with no renter protection offered by Swedish law. If an owner wants you out, they will just kick you out with no cause and no notice period mentioned in the contract. Renthia does not care as their sole purpose is to get their commission.

You should stay away.

Renthia is a company of thieves and liars!!!

Renthia is a company of thieves and liars! They tried to charge me an additional cleaning fee when I left my apartment which was not there! The owner himself was not aware of these charges. If you don't want to be fooled and have your deposit stolen, hire another company. If you deal anyway and they try to rob you, do like me, call the police!
And please remember to do your own end inspection by filming your apartment before you leave. Believe me, you will need it! These people are really in bad faith. I have never dealt with such mobsters in my life. They will use against you the fact that you do not have direct contact with the owner. Unfortunately for them, I did! The owner confirmed to me by phone and in writing that the additional cleaning costs did not come from them! If you see a response from them as a result of this comment, you can get a picture of their vice, of their dishonesty. And above all you will know what they will blame you when they try to scam you and you steal your deposit.

Renthia looks amazing at the first…

Renthia looks amazing at the first glance.

Unfortunately, I am having a horrible experience with the customer service, and with the main service that renthia should execute flawlessly, which is the communication with the potential landlord.

I have applied for a flat and after a few days (it was holiday time, so I needed to wait at least 5 days, which is understandable) my application got accepted. I received a notification "preparing contract..." in my application on my profile. I was very happy thinking that the landlord wants to rent out the flat to me, since the contract is already in preparation stage. I stopped looking for other flats, because the flat was really the one I was looking for.

Unfortunately, after a few days of waiting, I still didn't get any update about the contract. I thought it is maybe normal it takes a while, but I e-mailed the customer service, asking how long it usually takes to prepare a lease. I received a reply that the application got accepted by renthia, but that they are waiting for the confirmation of the landlord. Confirmation of what? The contract? My application? There was no specification of that. I waited for another couple of days. After that, I sent another e-mail to the customer service, and received an automatic reply that it is a holiday time so it might last longer to get a reply (it was already after 10th of January...).

At some point, I have tried to call someone to speak and get a clarification about my application process. I only found one number online, which appeared to be the CEO's number. He was really surprised I found his number online. As I explained my problem, he explained that he checked my correspondency with the customer service and that I have received a reply to my queries. I have clearly specified that the information "preparing contract" is misleading, if not false. There is no contract yet, as the landlord hasn't replied to any of the three text messages and e-mails that the renthia service has sent to her / him.

I really don't understand why it is not possible to call the landlord and ask him to decide which tenant he / she chooses, to be able to assure fast and efficient communication between the tenant and the landlord. I would expect that if people are hired to facilitate communication of two parties, they should not impede it. In fact, I would have probably gotten a faster reply if this application would be on some other website, where it is possible to write to the landlord directly. At least, if I haven't gotten any reply, I would have simply applied to other places.

By applying for a flat through renthia, I have waisted 2 weeks of my precious time, waiting for "preparation of the contract", whereas I could have continued looking for another flat somewhere else. Which leaves me with one week left to the moving date, without a place to stay.

Maybe the landlord will reply, maybe not... hopefully, he / she will. There is still a chance that I get this flat. But I am already disappointed by the customer service that is being paid for doing a very bad job.

EDIT: after more than 2 weeks of waiting, I finally got a reply that the landlord would prefer a tenant that wants to rent his place for more than 6 months. I have applied for 4 months. In this case, the landlord has changed his preferences. I understand it is not the responsibility of renthia. But here we are again: if the communication between the landlord and the tenant was better, these kinds of things would be sorted out very quickly, saving everyone's time.
