About Reposit

Written by the company

Reposit is the UK's best deposit alternative provider.

We provide better value for tenants, more cover for landlords and a smoother tenancy deposit process for letting agents.

We've been revolutionising rentals since 2016 and work with hundreds of letting agents to provide thousands of deposit alternatives to landlords and tenants.

As the cost of renting continues to increase in the UK, tenants are faced with cash rental deposits that are simply unaffordable. whilst landlords find themselves with charges or rent arrears that go beyond the typical 5 weeks rent.

Reposit solves both challenges for tenants and landlords alike. Tenants pay a non-refundable fee of just one week's rent* whilst landlords are covered up to 8 weeks in the even of damages or rent arrears.

Our product is insurance-backed and we're regulated by the FCA and protected by the FSCS, so landlords can be completely comfortable that their payouts are protected.

Whether you're an agent, landlord or tenant you can get in touch with us today to find out more.

This is an insurance company, they do not want to pay.

This is an insurance company, they will by default try to not pay out.
We had a tenant not pay us for 2 months, falsified a bank payment receipts to pretend he had paid, damaged our property, left rubbish everywhere.
He refused to leave unless we signed an agreement to waive all rent. We took advice from a solicitor who told us that as long as we only said that we would not hire a solicitor to go after costs, but dealt with it through reposit, it would not be legally binding and he would have to pay the outstanding rent. Reposit ignored this fact.
Reposit did not pay a penny. We will go back to the regular deposit scheames.

Good Morning Mike,

We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

We understand how frustrating it is to deal with property damage and issues arising at the end of a tenancy. Every claim we receive is assessed against the available evidence and the terms of the Reposit agreement.

As outlined in our guidance for landlords, it is the landlord's responsibility to provide the standard supporting evidence needed to assess a claim. This includes documents such as a signed check-in report, a check-out report, and any other relevant evidence that demonstrates both the condition of the property at the start of the tenancy and any loss suffered. These requirements are designed to ensure claims can be assessed fairly and consistently for all parties.

In this case, no formal check-in report was available, which meant we were unable to verify that the claimed damage had occurred during the tenancy. Check-in and check-out reports are important pieces of evidence when assessing end-of-tenancy claims.

Regarding the rent arrears, our decision reflected the evidence provided, including that an agreement had been reached for rent not to be charged if the tenant vacated by a specified date. As the tenant left in accordance with that agreement, the arrears could not be awarded.

We appreciate that this outcome was not the one you were hoping for. If you would like us to review any additional evidence or discuss the decision further, please contact eot@reposit.co.uk directly and we'll be happy to assist.

Kind regards,
Reposit Customer Support Team

Good Morning Robyn,

We're sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must have been.

When you selected the option to let us know you'd moved out, we immediately notified your letting agent or landlord that your tenancy may have ended. However, as your Reposit is managed by them, we're unable to close it on their behalf. As your letting agent/landlord did not take action, and as the Reposit remains active, the annual fee is automatically charged.

We can see that you've already been in touch with our support team, and we'll be responding to you shortly. We'll work with you to help resolve this situation and review the information you've provided, even where there has been a delay or lack of action from your letting agent.

Kind regards

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

We appreciate your feedback and understand that reviewing terms can sometimes feel time-consuming. Reposit only requires customers to review our Terms & Conditions, which are designed to clearly explain how the product works, including the key features, fees, and responsibilities, so customers can make an informed decision before purchasing a Reposit.

If your review instead relates to your letting agent and the documents they require you to read, you can find instructions on how to move your review here: https://help.trustpilot.com/s/article/Edit-or-delete-your-review?language=en_US

We appreciate your comments and if there is anything we can do to make our processes simpler please reach out to hello@reposit.co.uk

Unhelpful advice

Unhelpful advice. I tried to close my account last year as I felt this was dead money and would rather pay a bond to my LL and have some return if the tenancy ends. I was told I couldn't and they took money from my account without my permission, and after I had asked them not to. Staff were quite rude and unhelpful and it wasn't explained to me that my LL had to end the scheme. I was given inadequate information from the start and the customer service team were rude. Fast forward 12 months and tried to close the account again to be told I couldn't, and It had to be my landlord. Spoke to my LL who knew nothing about the account and wasn't ever told about a continuing annual fee either.
Spoke to my letting agent and he said just end the tenancy!!
My LL had to email them back and explain he was happy for me to end the payment plan! There is no information to help on the website just a button to end the tenancy so I did.
All in all people you are paying dead money to a company that do nothing for it until the tenancy ends and if you are in a long term let could easily end up paying more than the original bond with absolutely no return!

Hi Lesley,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with Reposit has left you feeling frustrated.

We appreciate that you wanted to switch from Reposit to a traditional cash deposit. As Reposit is linked to your active tenancy, we're unable to end the policy or replace it with a cash deposit at a tenant's request alone. This has to be completed by the landlord or letting agent through the checkout process, as they manage the tenancy and the Reposit on our platform. Once your landlord confirmed they were happy to move to a cash deposit, we provided them with the steps needed to complete the checkout before your next annual fee was due.

Regarding the annual fee, this is payable each year while the Reposit remains active and is explained during the sign-up process and within our Terms of Service. We appreciate, however, that you feel this wasn't clear at the time, and we're always looking at ways to improve how we communicate this to customers.

We're also sorry to hear you were unhappy with the service you received. Having reviewed our correspondence, we can see our team responded to your enquiries by explaining how the scheme could be ended and what was required from your landlord. Nevertheless, we're disappointed that this wasn't the experience you expected, and your feedback has been shared with the relevant team.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review. Feedback like yours helps us identify where we can improve both our communication and our customer experience.

Kind regards

Jenni at reposit was absolutely…

Jenni at reposit was absolutely incredibly helpful as she allayed all my worries about not being able to ensure my tenant would register with reposit, as on the day of my tenant using the letting agent (I was using a fully managed service with the agent (but the agent didn’t want to partner with a zero deposit scheme which is the choice of any letting agent whether to or not of course ) and I became fearful that because I was working on the day of my tenant moving in I wouldn’t be able to get them to comply with the reposit scheme but Jenni assured me that automated emails would be regularly sent to the tenant and then Jenni offered to also email them directly herself. The tenant duly did register on the day and Jenni communicated to me that the deposit had been registered by the tenant! I was so impressed that she was monitoring it and ensuring it happened!! 🤩

I was super impressed with Jenni and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this scheme to anybody, am very grateful for Jenni’s help support and guidance with this , she was on the ball with it! She was Reassuring me all the way through the process! Brilliant super helpful lady ! 🤩
