Warranty confusion

We have been visiting this shop for some years now. It is a little out of the way (1hr round trip) but we felt it was worth it because, as quoted on their website, they are the experts, and we have wanted nothing less for our bearded dragon.

Although our experiences with the store have been a little up and down over the years, we have been happy to continue using them as we felt they knew what they were talking about, sadly our most recent visit had a negative turn, leading to this review.

When the UVB lamp broke for our vivarium a little over one year ago, we were advised by the reptile specialist to purchase a specific Arcadia unit, which cost around double what we had previously paid for UVB units.
Trusting their expert advice, we made the purchase. The chap who served us stamped the box, adding his signature and sale date and advised us to keep hold of the box should we need to take advantage of their two-year warranty.
A few weeks ago (just past one year since purchase) the unit failed. When trying to get the unit replaced, we were told that they do not do a two-year warranty, but just a six-month warranty, which falls six months short of the legally enforced warranty for any electrical goods in the UK!

We have since contacted the manufacturer directly regarding our problems with the product (another poor review on here) and have gone elsewhere for a new UVB unit, avoiding both this store and the manufacturer.

Unfortunately, we have lost faith in this store as we feel we cannot trust what we are being told, albeit about a product and associated warranties, and not reptilian advice, so will not be returning.
