Excellent end-to-end experience with Dr Yaman

Travelled from Manchester to Istanbul for a DHI hair transplant with Dr Resul Yaman on 4 June 2026. Writing this at Day 11 as an experience review only — I'll come back to update on the actual results at 6 and 12 months when there's something meaningful to report.

After comparing five Turkey clinics, two UK clinics including a top ISHRS Fellow, and rejecting another UK clinic, I chose Yaman because of his IAHRS verification, 17 years of independent experience, and the fact he personally does the design and channel incisions rather than leaving everything to technicians. That commitment held up in practice on the day.

The booking process with Doga was excellent — quick, accurate, and patient with all my questions. Airport pickup at SAW was on time and well organised. Hotel Gorrion was a great choice. Pickup and drop-off was always punctual.

On the day, Dr Yaman did the microcamera assessment, discussed hairline options (he drew two and I picked), and ended up doing 3,100 grafts (slightly more than the 2,900 day-of estimate, and above the under-2,000 ceiling I'd initially asked for — his clinical judgment on the day was for more density, and I accepted it). Procedure took 8–9 hours under local anaesthesia. He did the final design and incisions personally and was in and out checking on the team throughout. PRP was done during surgery before channel opening. Lunch was provided in a private room which I appreciated.

The next day they picked me up for the first wash, gave detailed in-person instructions, and a full aftercare pack — foam shampoo, saline spray, multivitamins, 5 days of meds, instructions, and a neck pillow. Doga checked in at Day 10 for photos and to confirm the final scab-removal wash.

Honest notes for future patients:
- The saline spray they give you (100ml) isn't enough for the full healing — buy a 1/2-1 litre locally.
- Sleeping at 45° for the first 5 nights was the hardest part of recovery — the neck pillow they provide is essential.
- Some anaesthesia top-ups were needed during the procedure when I flagged pain in specific spots — the team was responsive and re-anaesthetised straight away.

Day 11 swelling is gone, scabs removed at Day 10, no complications. Worked from home days 1–4 and was back in the office on day 8.

Based on the experience alone I'd recommend Dr Yaman without hesitation. Will update with results at 6 and 12 months.

Dr. Resul Yaman’s Clinic: The Truth About Online Consultations and Mismanaged Expectations

One of the most concerning systemic issues I witnessed during my years as a coordinator for Dr. Resul Yaman was the process of online graft estimation and patient selection.

The Burden of Estimation
In many cases, the responsibility of evaluating photos sent via WhatsApp or email was left to the coordinators/sales staff rather than Dr. Yaman himself. While I tried my best to be realistic, I was often surprised to see the clinic accept cases that I personally felt should have been rejected immediately—cases where the donor area was clearly too weak or the baldness too advanced for a successful result.

The Reality Gap at the Clinic
The real problem started when the patient arrived in Istanbul. During the in-person consultation using the professional donor-scanning camera, it would become undeniable that the donor area couldn't provide the promised number of grafts.
Instead of admitting the miscalculation or apologizing for the error, the standard approach was to proceed anyway. Why? Because a lower graft count or a cancelled surgery meant a lower price or a demand for compensation for the patient’s travel expenses. To avoid this financial loss, the reality was often "glossed over," and patients were led into surgeries where we already knew the results would likely be poor.

A Professional Gamble
I never understood the "gamble" being taken with these patients' scalps. When you over-harvest a weak donor area or promise full coverage to a Stage 7 patient with thin hair, you aren't just giving them a bad result—you are exhausting their only chance at a future repair.

My Question to the reader:
I am curious to hear from patients here: Have you ever felt that your online estimate with Dr. Resul Yaman was vastly different from what was actually possible once you arrived? Did you feel pressured to proceed even when the donor area seemed insufficient?

Advice for Future Patients:
Be extremely wary of clinics that give you high promises based on a few blurry photos. If a coordinator (not a doctor) is the one promising you 5,000 grafts from a thin donor area, they are selling you a dream, not a medical reality. Always demand a "Plan B" or a realistic worst-case scenario before you book your flight.
