Mike and Jay were the BEST

Mike and Jay were the BEST!

My wife and I were suspicious of financial service companies, for good reason. ARLO had good reviews so we tried it out. From the first moment, they were clear, responsive, and professional. Customer service was AMAZING. If I emailed Jay with a question, I'd get a call in 5 minutes as if he had nothing to do but answer my calls. They made every step of the way clear and easy. We could not be more satisfied!

Excess, unnecessary documentation and verification

Reverse mortgage obtained 2012, everything fine.

Tried to refinance it in 2021; got back had to put in my own cash of a year's gross income, acceptable even if undesirable. I am a financial economist who has worked on banking regulation for 3 decades so thought I knew the technicalities.

Then went through 3 months of sending in lots of documents and credit checking even though it is the collateral that is important and not the borrower. Two hard pulls, had to unfreeze three(!) credit bureaus, show proof of title, taxes etc.

Asked to be relieved of HOA payment history since the old HOA was run by a crook and collapsed with no papers left behind. Kept pushing for years of HOA payment documentation by recipient although I explained 6 times why that did not exist. Also had to verify income and SSN with the Federal Government even though they had already obtained it a month earlier. After 10 weeks said HOA payments were absolutely verifiably necessary; which should have been explained to borrower earlier. Had to prove I had paid yearly on the order of 1 part in 900 of value of house in full and on time. I lived here for 14 years so what would anyone think about my having paid that? I gave up.
