I discovered Ripe Insurance at a…
I discovered Ripe Insurance at a campervan event earlier in the year. I spoke with the people, asked questions about they operate and was impressed with their responses. I requested quotes via their website site and was duly given a price which I felt was fair. Once payment was taken and documents issued a request was made for proof of no claims.
I sent this across to them only to find that as I had put the insurance in my Wife’s name that it couldn’t be used for this policy. Now both my Wife and I have insured the van over the years so the no claims we built up jointly I just happened to have been the last one to insure the vehicle. As it was problematic we decided to pay the increased fee and stay with Ripe.
A couple of weeks later I needed to insure our motorhome. Again I decided to use Ripe and again they quoted quickly, with all the requirements I needed. Again I accept the quote and paid, receiving the documents immediately.
The next day an email arrived requesting proof of no claims so I sent across the proof I had tried to use previously which shows my name. A short while later I was told they couldn’t accept this proof of no claims as it was being used for another vehicle? I checked with my Wife to make sure the increased premium for our campervan had been paid, which she confirmed so I sent an email asking which vehicle the no claims was being applied to. They responded with the reg number of the campervan for which they had declined the proof of no claims! I responded by giving the reg number of the motorhome and policy number but they still said I couldn’t use it.
I responded by email outlining what had happened previously and that the no claims was valid for the motorhome! They responded saying I hadn’t been clear and to what policy did I want the no claims to be applied! I scratched my head at that but responded asking the no claims be applied to the motorhome as first requested. This time it was acceptable and the matter was resolved. Now I know this is a long message regarding my experience but I wanted it to highlight how blooming difficult it was to get the insurance in place and hope that you can find a way to improve your processes so that other people do have a similar experience 🙏

We always aim to provide clear information about licencing and vehicle requirements, as well as how discounts such as No Claims Bonuses apply. In regards to the No claims, we do not accept mirrored no claims, which means you have this on another insurance policy as well as your cover with us. This is why we had to liaise with you regarding the no claims bonus you originally submitted.

Wayne took me through some questions, managed to adjust my quote, and we renewed there and then, money sent over by phone, receipt, insurance schedule and statement of facts emailed straight away, Polite nice guy, spoke about the football, Job done.

I’m an enthusiastic amateur photographer and have some quite expensive equipment.
The insurance companies that advertise through the photographic magazines are aimed at professional photographers.
I had used Ripe to cover my watch so as soon as I-discovered that they would also cover my cameras and other equipment I signed up.
Thankfully I’ve not had to claim but I’m sure that if I do Ripe will honour my claim.
