RoGallery is a unique force in the art world. We have been an art gallery, dealer, and auction house of over 35 years located in the vibrant Queens neighborhood of Long Island City in NYC. In this time, RoGallery has established its place in the New York City art world as a trustworthy and reputable source of modern and contemporary artworks. The gallery was founded in the early 1980's by Robert and Gail Rogal, who would become an art world power couple. They established themselves initially as limited edition print dealers by buying out the entire inventories of several major art publishing companies. Over the years their keen eye for superb artworks has expanded the collection to include thousands of original paintings, photographs and sculptures. The passion for collecting is still going strong today as we grow the RoGallery collection through purchases and quality consignments. Customers that are within driving distance or visiting New York City are encouraged to visit us at our 10,000 square foot gallery showroom. The gallery is by appointment only. Hours are Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm ET. Please let us know in advance of your visit what artworks you would like to see. Most items are onsite, but some need to be transferred to our location for viewing.

Terrible Experience

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with Ro Gallery. The purchase itself worked out fine. The issues started with the shipping from US to UK. The shipping service cost £180 which I paid to Ro Gallery. The piece was shipped using UPS but for unclear reasons it never arrived and was returned to the US.

Instead of being helpful however Ro then asked me to cover a full new shipment for another ~USD215. To me it is unclear whether UPS can even charge if they did not deliver but whether Ro got refunded or whether they made any attempts to claim money back from UPS is unclear. They simply commented to me that I could reclaim money from UPS (without having any contractual relationship with them).

As the piece is worth only worth some hundreds of $ i asked to be re-imbursed as oppose to ship it again. Ro Gallery offered that MINUS a 25% stocking fee (for 6 months) and charging all customs and charges for the packages.

I will now give up and end up with a loss of around $300 whilst Ro still has the piece of art to sell it again and keeps the "stocking fee" (and any potential re-imbursements they received from UPS)

Hi Friedrich,
We understand your frustration and unfortunately, we were unable to refund the original shipping cost because we never received a refund from UPS. The delivery was unsuccessful because the import tax was not paid when the delivery was attempted. We then had to pay the import tax upon return to the US. For the second attempt to ship the work to you, we requested that you pay for the shipping because that goes directly to UPS, not Rogallery. After 10 months of holding the work for you, we issued you a partial refund. The refund did not include the original shipping cost because we never received a refund from UPS to give that money back to you, and there was a 25% fee which included the restocking fee, the cost of the import tax upon return to the US since it was not paid when they attempted to deliver it to you, and the cost of keeping the work on hold for you for 10 months. Normally, we do not issue refunds after 30 days after the purchase (this was 10 months after the purchase) but since this was an issue with UPS, we decided to go ahead with a partial refund. We hope you can understand.

A tremendous work of art

A tremendous work of art - adequate descriptive information in listing - a reasonable price, with nice initial-purchase discount, and no mark-ups - extremely well packed and very rapid, cross-country shipment- fairly easily searchable website, although for the last couple of days (beginning of November, 2024) it is weirdly broken, and unsearchable… hopefully just undergoing maintenance, or something…?

All around easy experience.

My order arrived quickly, it was well packaged and the artwork was exactly as described and pictured. I liked having the confidence that I could return it within 5 days if it was different than expected in person. Art can be a difficult thing to order sight unseen, but I am thrilled with piece!
