I ordered a light fixture online

I ordered a light fixture online. The order arrived late and damaged. Apparently you must report any damage within 3 days of delivery. That doesn't seem reasonable. I do want any other customers to know about this policy before they order. I am not satisfied and will not deal with Rona again.

Rona customer service still sucks

I was trying to buy Canadian. We don't have many choices when it comes to building supplies. I went to RONA because they used to be Canadian (owned by an investment firm out of New York)
I visited the store to purchase paint for doors and trim, as I was looking for better quality paint than what I had. A clerk assisted me by showing me three options, and I chose the mid-range paint priced at $48, as it fit my budget. While the paint was being shaken, I noticed a sign advertising 30% off SICO Endurance, which would have been a better-quality paint at a lower price of $42. I asked the clerk if I could switch to the discounted paint, and she called the manager. To my surprise, the manager refused to allow the switch because tint was added to make it white.

I ended up purchasing the original paint because I needed it for my project, but I left the store feeling disappointed and frustrated. This experience has made me reconsider where I shop for my renovation needs.

When I got home I sent in a complaint and they offered me 10% off my next purchace. I felt it to be an insult. So I phoned customer service, they offered me a $10 gift card. That at least brought the cost down to the sale price. But I'm still stuck with crappy paint.

You would think customer service would be more of a priority during these tense political and economic times.

Can only speak of the Welland Ontario…

Can only speak of the Welland Ontario store. The parking definitely was not thought out, so if you are in a bit of a hurry it's a bit inconvenient.
Their website, so I guess that speaks of most of their stores, is definitely not up to snuff. If you have used Home Depot's website, that's when you can see how they definitely need improvement on their website.
On the positive side, they are well-stocked with all kinds of home improvement items.

Il y a environ deux semaines, j'ai acheté plusieurs articles chez RONA Côte-Vertu en utilisant la caisse automatique. Une semaine plus tard, lors du retour de certains articles, j'ai constaté une erreur de facturation : une planche de contreplaqué de 24" x 48" m'a été facturée comme une planche de 48" x 96", à un prix deux fois plus élevé. J'ai immédiatement signalé l'erreur au gérant, demandant une vérification des caméras de surveillance pour confirmer la taille de la planche emportée. Le gérant a promis de me tenir informé après vérification.
N'ayant reçu aucune nouvelle, je suis retourné au magasin pour d'autres achats et en ai profité pour photographier l'étiquette code-barres de la planche initiale. Sur place, le gérant a scanné l'étiquette de la photo, confirmant l'erreur de facturation. Bien que j'aie été remboursé, je suis profondément frustré par le temps perdu et l'absence de compensation pour cette situation. Je recommande vivement aux clients de RONA Côte-Vertu de vérifier attentivement leurs factures, surtout lors de l'utilisation des caisses automatiques, pour éviter de telles mésaventures.

Disappointing Experience at RONA Côte-Vertu
Approximately two weeks ago, I purchased several items at RONA Côte-Vertu using the self-checkout. A week later, when returning some of these items, I noticed a billing error: a 24" x 48" plywood board was charged as a 48" x 96" board, at twice the price. I immediately reported the error to the manager, requesting a review of the surveillance cameras to confirm the size of the board I took. The manager promised to inform me after verification.
Having received no news, I returned to the store for other needs and took the opportunity to photograph the barcode label of the board I had taken. At RONA, I asked the manager to scan the label from the photo, which confirmed the erroneous barcode and did not match the barcode displayed on the screen, as well as the price, which was twice as high. Following this, I was reimbursed but remain frustrated at having wasted my time without any compensation.
I strongly recommend that RONA Côte-Vertu customers carefully check their invoices, especially when using self-checkouts, to avoid such mishaps.

Fix your website

Been on the checkout page for literally an hour trying to make an online purchase on their website. I tried two cards and each of them were declined even tho I had enough money on them. Waste of time fix your website!

Zero stars

Zero stars! Ordered water filter (over $1000), delivery got delayed. When you call support to check - “Your order is being prepared. Press one if you want to hear it again”. Sure, I enjoy hearing you are not delivering my stuff on time.
Also the description of the filter does not match the datasheet from manufacturer, characteristics doubled on Rona website, which misled me to buy it. Now there's no way to cancel, it’s not delivered and it’s not what I was looking for. Nice, over $1000 just wasted.
Asked question in their Q&A section - and they just deleted it, because I exposed their scam.

If I could give Rona 1/2 star I would ! They sell sub standard flooring and then blame the install as being a bad one . They don’t like giving refunds on crap materials and blame shift so they don’t have to refund especially on flooring . I hate this store with every fibre of my being ! I was instructed to open up a claim and it was denied . WELL , they took my $5000 and ran away with it . I hate you Rona and Mona Serra group ! Disgusting thieves !

Misleading email advertising for 10% off for 55+.
Received an email about a one day only 10% off for age 55+
Went to the store and find out that this does NOT apply to appliances or any sales items, and who knows what else is excluded, which that email failed to disclose.

Service

Service, or lack of. I tried to purchase 600 sq ft, of vinyl plank flooring. I asked a number of people for assistance, not a chance anyone would assist me.

Stop for small items only, if you have a question or require any assistance, RONA, is not the place.

It's to bad the service is so terrible, it a handy location for me.

I ordered a shower kit on November 19th…

I ordered a shower kit on November 19th that was to be delivered by Dec. 5th. They never even started the shipping process until December 3rd, and now say it might be hereby December 10th. This sets my whole project back almost a week. Bush league and unacceptable

Slow down and stop complaining

As a contractor that shops at a wide variety of building supply stores, I believe rona+ in cambridge to be a good place to shop. Like all other building supply stores, sometimes something might not be instock and it happens, to write a bad review on a store because something your looking for is not instock, or your in such a rush that the cashier isn't moving fast enough for you is simply wrong. If I go to a building supply store 100 times and have maybe 2 bad encounters and who knows, maybe I contributed to those 2 times, that's a 98 percent average. So if rona cambridge has a 98 percent average, why would I not want to shop there? Rona Cambridge, a great place to shop!!! I lost my wallet in the store yesterday and one of the staff found it and returned it to me! How many people would return your wallet, money still in it!

Lack of Cashier service

I was purchasing something a Rona in Maple Ontario today. Around 8 people standing around chatting and no one at the cash. One lady told me to use self serve. I told her I don't like using sel serve and she said she would help me. Ok fine Rona. Hope you send me my Christmas bonus since it now seems I'm working for you

Tried to price match and they said there is low quantity online and the products can be broken. I said the product is in store and I can see it, they refused to price match. at that point why have a price match policy. just say it was a gimmick to get you in store.

i have heat pump from Rona Canada they are fraud the guy name is Eric came in for service he send his people to installed heat pump AC, AC work very well but in winter i am getting problem with my heater because of there installations heater stop working on middle of the night and in the morning there is a always massage that your system have issue, i called Rona so many time they said some will contact you and no one shows up or contact. very bad service.

I ORDERED A PARAMOUNT OUTDOOR NATURAL GAS HEATER from Rona and it came when they said it was and it was easy to put together, and, surprise surprise, it worked immediately on the first press of the button. One criticism I have is that for $450 including tax they did not have the quick release attachment for natural gas supply, nor the plastic safety cap to keep spiders and creepy crawlies who love the smell of gas going up the pipe. That is just damn cheap. They should supply the standard attachment and the quick release - who has two natural gas supply hook-ups in their back yard?

Ordered a glass shower door online on…

Ordered a glass shower door online on Oct 4. Very poor communication about the shipping and transportation of it.
Then it shows delivered on October 26, but we have no sign of it. It’s November 7 so I finally get a hold of customer service. After being on hold for 20 minutes, I finally get a rep who tells me that the door is actually broken. WELL THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW! Even though Rona is the only shop in my town I’ll never shop there again!

Shady practice?

Recently purchased 10-year smoke detectors online. Nowhere in the RONA ad did it say these units are already 5 years old and have only half of their useable life left.
Returned the units, and RONA refused to post my honest review on their website. Only 5-star reviews accompany this product. Beware.

August to October 2024 shopping and getting advice

I have been shopping at Fleetwood Rona for many years now. I am not angry contractor nor a skilled DIY guy. Every time I go there to buy something I think I need to do something at home I ask for advice and assistance. Starting from the station at the entry they listen, clarify, give advice and directions, sometimes call for someone who is specialist in the matter. Over last couple of months I experienced it several times. I also noticed few other customers like me asking for advice. Every time the response is professional and attitude friendly. Greg the manager, Annette, Nidhi, and Nisha from the front desk. THANK YOU ALL, management for creating this atmosphere and all employees for cultivating it.
