Lovely Surprise 🎉

This review is about the purchase of the gift card. The card has been gifted to my daughter and son in law for their 10th Wedding Anniversary. The gift will be used towards a luxury overnight stay in Edinburgh. I was searching Edinburgh Flavours when Roomcard caught my eye. I thought that the concept was innovative and the perfect solution to my gift dilemma. I loved putting it together with the gift wrap, printed ribbon and personal message. The card was delivered on their anniversary at 7am straight to their in box. Each step was confirmed and the communication confirming the purchase/delivery was very good.
The recipients are delighted and will review the booking process in due course!

This is a total scam. Don't fall for it. The company is impossible to deal with and there's all kinds of hidden fees. Don't do it.

We also display prices inclusive of applicable taxes, so the total cost is clear upfront. Any additional charges a hotel may collect directly (such as resort fees or parking) are always listed with the property details to avoid surprises at checkout.

Dealing with this company is a nighmare!

Dealing with this company has been an absolute nightmare. Instead of bringing joy, they only cause headaches! I planned a trip and paid with my balance, only to be notified 8 hours before check-in that my booking was canceled and I needed to rebook. However, I couldn't rebook because it has been days without receiving the funds back to their payment method. This has happened twice already! Save yourself the trouble and consider other options for your bookings.

I was quite excited to see that you…

I was quite excited to see that you offered your card for a resort that our son had booked into for New Years. It sounded like the perfect accompaniment for their evening, only to find that they couldn’t use it. I had spoke. With one of your agents to begin with, customizing the card, etc., only to find that they were to have used it like VRBO, etc. So it was of no value. What kind of gift can this be if they need it upfront?

Fab!

We bought a gift card for a relative for Christmas, the process was easy and loved the way the card came with the personalised ribbon and message, it actually looked like a actual gift not just a plain old voucher. The updates about the status and the reminder to send the text and the confirmation it had been received was fab. Absolutely love this and definitely will use this service again.

Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND Roomcard. I purchased a Roomcard on 11/30/2023 as a gift for my son, who was visiting his girlfriend's family. They were thinking of taking a night to stay in the city, but within one hour of receiving the Roomcard gift text, he let me know that their plans had changed. I had taken care to ensure there was a refund/cancellation policy so I assured him that I could just cancel it and get a refund. It took four days and multiple emails to Roomcard, to which they repeatedly replied that my request was "being escalated" before I threatened to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Only then, on 12/04/2023, did they finally issue a refund. There is absolutely no reason that a company should have to take several days to escalate a simple request that is allowable by their own policy, and shown as such on their website.

In reading other reviews, it would appear that there are other questionable business practices and policies in play by Roomcard. I will never attempt to use them again and would strongly recommend that others do not either.

Card is worthless

I was looking to use the room card gift card given as a Christmas gift. The card is only for $75. The hotel through room and was $506, same hotel through the hotels website is $350. So I should pay $150 more to use the $75 card! Looks like we are out the $75 since using the gift card will cost us more money then booking without it.

Caution it’s a SCAM!

Caution! It’s a Scam!
While people try to buy this with good heart, Roomcard runs a scam!
1. Roomcard doesn’t price match or offer best available rates. They are always higher than what I find on other sites.
2. Roomcard doesn’t redeem or refund
3. Roomcard expires in 3 years
4. If someone qualifies for a discounted rate (AAA discount, senior rate, etc) Roomcard actually costs way more! You can’t get the discounts and use the Roomcard together
5. Zero understanding from customer support

No! Don’t buy this for your friends, it’s more of a problem than a solution! Our $150 gift card is only worth about $20. We feel bad for our friends who bought this.

Do you like throwing money away?

Do you like throwing money away? Roomcard is the choice for you!
According to their Terms and Conditions, once you send a roomcard, it is non-refundable.. so if you buy it and send it immediately, you can't refund it, and the recipient of the roomcard can't refund it. The roomcard only lasts 3 years, then expires. The roomcard is non-transferable. Roomcard does not cover incidentals, just the lodging fee at the (broad) selection of hotels.
So, if you can't book lodging for exactly the amount the room card is for?... you lose that money. If you don't book it within 3 years, you lose the money. You can book more than the value of the roomcard, but a nights stay at current prices is a large obligation to place upon a gift recipient.
It's not like you get a discount, or your money gains value in any way when you buy the roomcard, but a roomcard is definitely not as valuable as the equivalent amount of money.
Think timeshare scam, but you don't get a free weekend stay ;-)
Federal law requires that gift certificates can't expire within 5 years, so I only assume they're circumventing this protection by claiming they're not a "gift card".. definitely a class action pending on that one though!
I called the day the card was issued to find out how my mom, the recipient, could cancel the card, and they told me that a refund was not possible. When I asked them how they can legally expire a gift certificate in less than 5 years, they answered, "don't worry, they just needed to print an expiration date, they would honor the certificate after it expires". That doesn't really answer the question, and when sales support tells me to not worry, the company will do more than is stated in the contract, the company always adheres very specifically to the contact when the time comes, as they casually apologize for the lying sales force.

Worst experience

Worst experience. The customer assistance is so dumb. They leave the chat half way. I wanted to redeem the card and there was some technical glitch with room card bookings. The only advice I got from room card assistance was to use the card in future. They don't even deserve 1 star.

Definitely a scam

Definitely a scam! I booked a hotel without receiving any confirmation. I tried to log in using the code they sent to my email and it doesn't work. One of the customer service agents contacted me and when i showed her that the payment went through and i didn't receive a confirmation of the booking she disappeared!

So nice!

I never leave reviews but this is so nice! My sister is unwell so sent her this to start planning a girly getaway. Was delivered to her at hospital with a video we all made and cheered her up to no end. So pleased.

I purchased a gift card for my cousin…

I purchased a gift card for my cousin before she drove from Oregon to Texas last September, seeing several hotels listed along the way. However, upon her arrival late one eve at hotel listed on Roomcard website, the hotel said it wouldn’t work. She tried calling Room Card customer service but they were closed! Evidently they’re based in London and their customer service only has UK hours?! She wasn’t able to use my gift.
