Good customer service

I had a bit of an issue with the premium membership but this got resolved with the very friendly customer service representative I spoke to.

Hardly any inquiries

Hardly any inquiries for this lovely spacious room at a very decent price, room taken tho now, thanx to SpareRoom.com as always.

It turns out that you can only contact rooms for rent by paying for premium access.

So useless and exploitative in my opinion.

As a basic member, you can contact other basic members by sending an ' interest message'. This is an automated message advising another user that you are interested in their ad and would like to get in touch.

You can also contact premium members by either sending them a customised message or contacting them via phone if they have added their contact number.

The Premium membership is only an additional feature for those who would like to speed up their search process. It is definitely not mandatory.

We hope we were able to clear up any confusion.

Meh/OK

Provides potential flat mates (for a fee) and I had no one message me regarding the property, despite the fact that the same property was getting lots of attention on other housing sites. Don’t think this is a great website for advertising your house and quite an outdated website.

Many people registered here but nobody…

Many people registered here but nobody responds to those interested, it is a non-normal page, I have used this page for three years and I never managed to contact anyone for my rooms, thank you.

Not sure if this website is legit

Not sure if this website is legit, I paid £17.99 for premium and not one message and only two views. Most of the people have no photos, not sure if they are real. The send interest doesn’t seem to do anything or get much response. Much more engagement on apps like spare room and Badi.

Too expensive to become a member when…

Too expensive to become a member when other websites are either free or charge a small fee.
No messages or communication at all, therefore no viewings.
I found my tenant through gumtree.

ACCESS TO POTENTIAL TENANTS FOR MORE MONEY!!

So many years using this website, but, declining with each year. Feel the value for money is no longer there. I pay to advertise my accommodation, but, this does not include being able to actually message any interested parties ... need to ‘Upgrade’ for that!!!! Has to be at least 10 years of using this site, under various names and feel I get less service for more money!

It's OK, another website to search for a room

I joined with a free account to search for a room in Brighton. The most of the room aren't what I'm looking for. Some user contacted me to offer their rooms (according with the preference I choose). Finally I found a room in other website, but in this one I receive some personal offerts. It's OK for me.

I did't find this site any useful at…

I did't find this site any useful at all. I understand the Covid-19 has hit rental market a lot, what I don't understand is why is so expensive to advertise here to contact someone.

Lower the price on these tough times and we will come come back to advertise our Rooms/Flat/House.

Gumtree is totally Free to advertise and contact.
SpareRoom charges but is cheaper so I decided to pay SpareRoom £19.99 for 28 days and within 7 days I found someone. Then I froze the Advertisement and next time I can use again these 21 days left.

is a paid service to contact but not that expensive and still can use remaining days.

Pointless website unless you pay the…

Pointless website unless you pay the over priced premium upgrade thing, which is more expensive than other websites... and lucky I didn't after looking at the rest of the reviews.

*Edit*
No one is on premium, so if you do find anyone who is you can expect that everyone using the platform will be contacting them. Premium is the only way this is useful, which is overpriced. Showing interest basically leaves you with nothing to show as two basic members can't speak with one another. It is still a very flawed system they have here and need to review it if they want people to have a decent user experience. One very poor business model.
