A really fabulous villa with all the amenities needed for a very enjoyable stay! This is our second stay at Villa Flores and I’m sure we’ll be back again!

My husband and I wanted a holiday away from hustle and bustle, peace and quiet and private. We got exactly that. The Villa is a 12 minute drive from the main road up into the hills. The Villa is not overlooked and really quite private. It was so nice to be able to walk out on to the pool terrace and look at the wonderful view. The road up to the villa is a little bumpy and narrow in places but there are passing places and as long as you take it slow its fine. The villa itself can sleep 8, 6 in the main villa and 2 in a separate annex. The main villa I would say is perfect for 4 people. It could do with another sofa if more than 4 were staying there. The kitchen is small but functional although there is no oven in the kitchen or toaster. There is a 4 ring hob. The oven is in a separate outside kitchen along with the bbq and hot plate which is great for the summer but for out of season an inside oven would be good. We managed it though as we stayed in a few nights and cooked. You would also need to take quick showers as the hot water tank is not very big and again for more than 4 people, someone could get a cool shower, unless it is plugged in to the mains for a while. The hot water is heated via the solar panels so on a cloudy day you would need to plug it in. Getting to the villa worked out well. When we arrived, using google translate on my mobile I whatsapped the owner Carlos and he came to meet us at the meeting point, we then followed him to the villa and he showed us around and gave us the keys. It was easy to communicate with Carlos via google translate if you do not speak Spanish. Once at the villa I used 'What3Words' app to pin point our location to enable navigating back to the villa once we were out and about. There is wifi at the villa but not enough speed to be able to connect to the smart TV for Netflix etc. Carlos, the owner did try for us and provided a dongle for the internet but it wasn't strong enough. I believe he will be looking into improving this. My review could appear to some people as being negative but I hope that is more informative so you know what you are getting. My husband and I loved it, we had a wonderful stay and would certainly stay again.

Casa La Encina Alora by Ruralidays - the first and only time we have used Ruralidays.
It was so bad, we didn’t even unpack.
The place was gloomy and it was like being in a cave. The location was overlooking a quarry, 15km from the town of Alora, where the nearest shops are. The photographer has been very careful as to what can be seen and not seen.
The access to it isn’t great.
The pool hadn’t been cleaned of leaves and there were a few brown stains which made it look like somebody had had an ‘accident’ in there. Additionally, despite photos showing a door near the pool, the only access to the pool is via walking round from the front of the villa down quite a few steps or a steep slope.
We checked the water pressure when we arrived and the toilet took over 10 minutes to fill up. Not ideal.
We were attacked by flies and wasps as soon as we arrived.
Considering the remote location, there was not even a bottle of water in the fridge. Many of the places we have booked over the years have had a welcome pack, however small. This place had been stripped of everything, even washing up liquid. We drove through Alora during siesta time so hadn't been able to do any shopping en route.
We stayed no longer than half an hour whilst we booked alternative accommodation. This entailed a 90 minute drive, but it was worth it, even though it had been 12 hours since we got out of bed at 3:30 in the UK that morning to go to the airport.
The owners refused to give us any form of refund, the only not very satisfactory compensation we believe to be from Booking.com.
Casa La Encina Alora by Ruralidays is not in any way recommended and neither is Ruralidays based on their attitude towards this booking.
Beware, there are multiple positive reviews by the same person for this villa on one site.

We have just spent two wonderful weeks at this beautiful villa. The house was modern, beautifully furnished and fully equipped with everything we needed. The pool area had beautiful views over the olive groves and provided the peace and tranquility that we needed for our two week break.
We liked it that much that we have already booked again for next year.

Ruralidays are one of the most efficient and organised companies that I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. I was reluctant at first because I hadn't heard of them before but their reviews are outstanding and rightly so. They answered all of my emails on the same day wherever possible and they were friendly and courteous each time. Communications throughout the whole process have been very professional and regular. I would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

It was our family's first time using Ruralidays for booking accommodation, and our overall all experience was great. Site is easy to use, houses are gorgeous and prices are fine. We booked house with private pool in El Gastor. Property had beautiful views, nice sized pool n nice outdoor areas. Garden furniture needs to be updated tho, but everything else was great.

Los Cactus is a wonderful villa in El Jaral. It's spacious and comfortable with A/C units in all the rooms. Both villa and the pool are very clean and comfortable. The roof terrace is a perfect place for morning coffee and evening glass of wine. The garden surrounding the house is breath-taking (even if a little spikey :)) The owners (Trini and Pepe) are very nice and helpful, going out of their way to assist you.The location is superb with the views of lake Zahara and Grazalema Mountains. It's quiet and peaceful with only handful of villas in the vicinity, but far enough to grant total privacy. If one is looking for busy resort, that's not a place for them, but as a quiet rural base for exploring Andalusia is perfect. With town of El Gastor just a couple minutes away - nothing is missing and we can't recommend it enough!

Being the first time I used rurlidays I was a little nervous but I really didn’t need to be, the booking went smoothly and everything was very clear. They were a little slow at replying to an enquiry but that didn’t matter.
I would definitely recommend them and will certainly use them again if I were to return to Spain for a holiday.
