Wytheville Store is there worst run store I've ever seen one manager runs registers name Arena I saw her stealing stuff and putting in her pocket and ignoring all customers. Also, the person's name Mark was rude and cussing out employees in the back. Just don't ever go to this store

What can I say about Rural King? My manager Matt was great, all the Receiving Department was great, Brody, Kelly, Mark, Teri, and Chad. HR Jen, ASM's Cooper, Shannon, and Cristan were amazing. Gun Barn Bob, and Tim were awesome. The cashiers were all fantastic. My crew John, Tim, Max, Will, Delaney, Val, Nicole, Julie, and Todd were amazing employees to work with on a daily basis. In the end it came down to lack of appreciation for all the work we do from corporate management. All of you deserve more. More money, more respect, more more more. They truly let a great team slip away. Remember family is everything!! If you're spending time away from family, make it worth the $$$ 💯!!

In 10 months I sold over $115,000 in merchandise for Rural King. No commission

I signed up 60+ customers for Rural King Visa Credit Cards accounting for possibly another $100,000 in future sales. No commission

My salary was $21.25 - hour. You do the math. My math is $215,000 over 10 months for Rural King. $40,000 for me.

Someone told me if Rural King was a Christian store because of the music they play. I said , some of us work Sundays, not everybody. My opinion is Rural King thinks money is more important than Sunday with family, and worship with the Lord.

Remember, in the end. It's all the big wigs in corporate that are the cheapest with money, that make the money and choose to stay open on Sundays. I'm sure that they're all off Sundays with family and friends while everyone else is required to work. No consideration for employees families.

The Martinsville Va location was one of My favorite stores to shop! What the heck happened to it! It is a total mess! We live an hour away, and it was well worth the drive. Definitely will not be doing it again! Must be different management.

Sales flyer said they had an item I wanted, called before and during sale dates and was told they had 2 items. Got to the store they had none., was told they sold out days before the sale. sale date 22 thru 28. I think it is a BAITE and SWITCH. This has happened before. Just get you in the store and you will buy something.

What an aggravating experience! I ordered an item and since they wanted a pretty penny for shipping, I selected to have it delivered at a fairly close retail store. Time passes by, and eventually they claim they sent me an email asking for a corrected shipping address. I guess they wanted to use my billing address (which is a post office box) to ship to. Did they call me on the phone? Nope. But they did offer to allow me to place the order again with them. Gee, makes me feel all tingly inside about how courteous they are handling their screw up. Unfortunately the item I want is, I believe, made by or for them exclusively. Might have to live the rest of my life without it, perhaps.

My time as a Department Lead at Rural King was, unfortunately, marked by a consistently challenging work environment primarily due to ineffective leadership at the store level. While I took pride in supporting customers and assisting where needed — including regularly covering registers and addressing floor needs — these efforts were often overlooked and, at times, penalized.

The store manager demonstrated a consistent pattern of micromanagement and disrespectful behavior. Communication was often condescending, and feedback frequently took the form of belittlement rather than constructive guidance. There was little understanding or appreciation for the real-time demands placed on employees, and when tasks couldn't be completed due to customer-facing responsibilities, it was common to receive lectures rather than support.

This experience taught me the importance of healthy leadership, mutual respect in the workplace, and clear, empathetic communication. While I value the lessons learned, I hope Rural King takes steps to foster a more positive and supportive management culture moving forward.

Re: Cross Lanes, WV Rural King store:
BEWARE! This store sold me a new riding lawn mower they said was in stock and indeed was not. They said it was available for pickup and was not. They cancelled my order because they did not have the mower to sell, did not offer to order one, and had no idea how to solve the problem. They did however accept my money on their website quite readily, and it is now tied up somewhere. Now I have no riding lawn mower, and no refund after four days. Please take caution, because as of today, they are still advertising this same riding mower on their website as for sale and in stock for pick up. Some of the worst business practices I have ever seen.

rural king in conover nc is the sorriest store i have ever dealt with and the 1 800 customer service number is the nearest nothing like alot of politicians say one thing and do nothing . I hope this store shuts down because the employees the let answer the phone with the exception of Tosha does not have the capability of dealing with customers more than a billy goat. They do not service there online order system or update there inventory for 9 weeks i have called and now they dont answer my calls i have to use someone else phone to get thru. Denied time and time again to talk to a manager excuse after excuse earn your money or get another job.

Some folks are dumb asses, the customer service at the 800 phone number are dumb asses, you can’t tell them anything. They screwed me out of $220.00 on a simple order, 7 shirts all the same they couldn’t manage it. Check their reviews they are like my review, 1 star. They are closing stores because there are only a few people shop there. I will never shop there again.

I bought a new tractor from ocala fl 3 years ago I have had in there svc a minimum of 5 times I have yet to have repairs done properly totally dissatisfied with there svc would not recommend any one buy any motorized equipment from them and expect it to be repaired properly.

I ordered online and 5 days later item still not shipped. The customer service center is shut down. I called the store that supposedly my game cameras came from. Not a clue about my order. Tried to save 20 bucks and still have yet to see why my order has not shipped.

The Franklin pa store has a manager that could care less about their employees. He performs unfair work practices.

Purchased a handgun from Rural King, was unusable and the customer service is horrible. Apparently they have no one in their so-called gun barn that understands how to ship a gun back for warranty work. Never purchase a gun here, go to a reputable gun store. Son ends up with an unusable gift for Christmas. Never will purchase another item from this store.

This is the worst company. After being told to go to the store for a refund, I then get there and told to do it online. So, I submit my refund online, get an email saying they need verification from the store that it has not been picked up, I never picked it up, refund should come back. Nope, closed my refund case, won't answer my emails(2) asking why it was closed, call CS and no one answers. Disputed the charge and got my money back.I will never step foot in another Rural King in my life, you just lost a good customer, congrats 👏👏👏🎉

If they screw up your order online and send the wrong thing don't expect to recieve any callback or email back to fix it! I did both multiple times and its been a week since i reached out to them! Go screw with someone else's money! I filed a credit card dispute and will no longer be ordering online from them

I'll join the 1 star crowd. Last night, 12/2/24, I filled an online cart with various items, then tried unsuccessfully for an hour to complete the purchase. I chose PayPal which wouldn't work, then my Visa card which didn't work either. I use both for years, never a problem anywhere...except Rural (King???). A chat box appeared so I tried that only to get a message I would receive an email and call which I never got. So this morning, 12/3/24, I tried their customer service number. What a joke! I was on hold 38 minutes before giving up.
I had the same experience others had which is why their reviews are so bad. I called or closest store, 90 miles away, no manager but after 12 minutes got to speak to an assistant manager who said she "cringes with calls about online ordering" from so many problems.
I tried corporate in Illinois which was lots of dead ends, never getting to speak to anyone. Out of exasperation I emailed RK asking to close my account and remove me from mailing list.
RK has a good variety of merchandise and good prices. If they fixed their online site and ordering problems as well as answering their customer service phone calls we would consider returning.
All RK corporate needs to do is check out Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply or any retailer to see how well their customer service is. RK is the absolute WORST!!!!!

Several years ago I hated Rural King. The Niles, Michigan store was dirty, messy, unorganized, and staffed by lazy morons. Then I learned that the manager (sibling of my coworker) had been let go. Six months later I went to the store and found great improvement in the appearance of it. The staff is not exactly workaholics now, but they are not morons either. Now I enjoy shopping there and recommend it to my peers.
