it all started Sept. 5/2022
We rented a car through our travel Agency in Canada
paid up front Can.$3,950.00 for a 42 days.
Upon arrival at Sado Porto we were presented with an Audi 3 all scratched and dented all around. When I saw the condition the car was in, I immediately told them I wanted another car, to which they replied that they had no other car to give us but assured us that the car was in good working condition. After an 8 hour flight and a sleepless night all you want is to get to your destination. So we took the car. About 2 weeks later the car broke down and had to be towed to Sado and the instructions to us was to get on a Taxi to pick up another car. The second car they gave us was an older car a Mazda all dented, scratched and dirty. We were asked for another 1200.00 Euros retention on our visa. We requested to have the retention of the Audi to be transferred to the Mazda and were told they would not do it until they would find out what the exact problem of the Audi which could take 1 week to 10 days. We were driving the Mazda back to our destination and half way through it, we notice all these lights on the dash board. Stopped the car and called Sado, and after being transferred 10 times and over an hour sitting inside this car, one of their reps to us that the problem does not seem to be serious, but not to drive very long distances. Go back and get another car, only that they did not have one that day or the following day to give us. 3 days of our holidays wasted. On the 3rd day we drove back and we were given an older Peugeot, again dented and dirty. We made several calls, asking about the 1200.00 Euros retention for the original car (Audi) all to no avail, no one could tell us anything only that the Audi was still in the shop. October 16/2022 our holiday came to an end and we returned to Canada, little did we know what was coming. About 2 weeks after arriving in Canada our Visa Bill comes in the mail, and for a shock Sado had charged us $1,656.31 on Sept22/2022 and another $656.37 on Oct.4/2022, both of each we had no clue what they were for. In Canada this is called FRAUD. We immediately got in contact with our travel Agency, Brampton Travel and Accord Travel and told them what had happened. We also contacted Visa for the reversal of $57.00 in interest we were charged and briefly explained the situation. They immediately reversed the charge and also told me about their Credit Card Dispute Centre which I did not know about. Today I can say I won both cases. On March 17/2023 I was credited with $1,656.31 and as recent as July 5/2023 $656.37. We have been at this since October 2022, and truthfully can say without CIBC Visa we would not have been able to do it. As far as our travel Agency Brampton Travel and Accord very little effort was put into this situation, no loyalty, for a 20+year customer. This is all irrelevant to the situation with Sado. My goal in writing this review is to hopefully alert others, so they do not fall in a similar situation. Sado Car Rental are Crooks, They are there just to still your money and dont care at what cost. BE AWARE

Incorrect gas fee, slow and unresponsive support

All started well, great price, good service at first. Car was clean and functioned well. When returning the car, I fully refueled it at 7:09 (right next to the airport) and arrived at 7:20am (my flight was at 10am) at their off-hours parking. The staff was kind, but did not give me any documentation after delivery. The next day I got an email from them with the invoice charging me for gas (5/8 of a tank) and stating that the delivery was at 12:30pm (time in which I was flying).
After e-mailing them (no response), calling in (being redirected to 4 different numbers) and sending a whatsapp message (ignored my messages).

After almost a week waiting, they finally decided to refund me the fuel charge.

Dont use these people

Dont use these people! They will find something to let you pay more. When we checked out, they told us the car papers were missing. We didn’t know we had them, we did not sign for them and never opened the dashboard.
We told them that. When we left, they said everything was fine. After a few days we got the final bill and they have put 75 euro ex vat for damages on the invoice. When I asked them, they said it was because we lost the car papers..
fraude, a scam! Do not use these thieves!!

I have used Sadorent every time I go to…

I have used Sadorent every time I go to Portugal for the last 20 years.
While on vacation a man carelessly walked onto the road just as I was passing in the car I rented from Sadorent.
He got hit and fell onto the car.
He damaged the hood and windshield.
I took all the steps Sadorent instructs to do in case of an accident. (They leave a package with you in the glove compartment with all the instructions.)
My wife even called Sadorent to verify these instructions.
The man that got hit admitted it was his fault and signed off on the accident report provided by Sadorent.
I was led to believe that I would not have to pay the €1200 deductible, because it was not my fault.
When I took the car back, I was told they would not go after the guy for the money. I was responsible for paying the deductible and I would have to go after him for the money.
I feel ripped off and betrayed. I will never rent or recommend Sadorent again.

Fuyez - Run

Fuyez. Ils cherchent des micro égratignures pour vous charger le plus possible, avec un air hautain et un dédain qui pue l’arnaque bien organisée.

Par ailleurs, l'agence n'est pas dans l'aéroport, mais très loin, et ce n'est indiqué nulle part. Il faut prendre une navette de l'agence pour s'y rendre. Cette navette n'est pas équipée d'un siège bébé, ce qui est inadmissible et très dangereux (nous voyagions avec un bébé). Le chauffeur roule trop vite et il prend les appels au volant.

Nous avons manqué de rater notre vol retour (même en ayant prévu 1h pour rendre la voiture) car la seule navette de l'agence n'était pas disponible pendant un long moment.

L'attente à l'agence avant d'être servie est également trop longue, et encore une fois, le personnel est extrêmement désagréable.

Je ne recommande absolument pas, je ne passerai plus jamais par cette agence qui a été mandatée par EasyJet.

They are intensely looking for minor damages to charge you as much as they can, in such an arrogant manner that it really smells like a big scam.

Furthermore, the agency is NOT in the Porto airport, it's really far away and there is no information about that nowhere. You have to wait for a shuttle to be taken to the agency. There is no baby seat in the shuttle which is unacceptable and very dangerous (we were travelling with a toddler). Moreover, the driver goes way too fast and takes calls while driving.

We almost missed our return flight (even though we had planned one extra hour to return the car) because the only shuttle of the agency was not available for a very long while.

The wait at the agency upon being served is highly excessive and oncemore, the staff is incredibly rude.

I would definitely not recommend. I will never use that company again that EasyJet commissioned.

Kept us waiting for almost 2 hours at the airport, when arriving to collect. They went over car with a microscope to try to frighten me into taking out really expensive extra insurance (no proper inspection on return). Did not enable toll road payment even though you can't drive anywhere around Lisbon without! So loads of fines to pay! Fuel tank half full even though petrol station across the road, why not full to full? Obviously they want customers to always slightly overfill on return. Will never use this rubbish company again. Why don't trust pilot do anything about their web page deceiving people that they have 5 stars?

Agree completely with recent reviews

Agree completely with recent reviews. Maybe management has changed. Admittedly, I photographed every single ding and scratch on our vehicle when I picked it up. But upon return, process went quick and professionally. I have to highly recommend this company. Our rental was for 3 weeks. In the scary Portugal car rental market, this experience was stress-free and highly appreciated.

Rental for a day, smooth communication in solid English during my information call prior to rental.
Next day right on time with a reliable rental car. Paperwork (already prepared) on the spot and warranty deposit already credited the next morning! Clear (email) communication during process.

Highly recommend Sadorent Montijo and André!

Faultless

Booking easy, phoned before and after landing, personal pickup from airport (late collection 2200 - they charge a fee unlike Sixt!), brand new car, they tried to up prices from booking 6 months earlier but readily agreed to contractual fees (take paperwork), easy return and personal minibus to airport. About 10mins away. It seems all companies are much more expensive but they did their job 100%.
I’m not sure the fee to take the car to Spain IS compulsory: it covers breakdown rescue! Sixt said it was optional at your own risk!

See beyond the negativity

Like so many I rarely write reviews unless I want to tell others about my negative experiences with products and companies. I wanted to try and water the negativity down.
I booked a mini-van/ 7 seater vehicle for 2 weeks, pick up in Lisbon. Sadorent were very competitive in their pricing and package, there were lots of negative reviews online but I found positive on other forums too so I decided to try them.
I have hired cars before in Lisbon and had some an absolutely horrific experience with another well known firm so decided to try sadorent as they were new to me.
Pick up went smoothly. There was a easily identified rep at the agreed meet up point in the airport. A mini bus with fantastic A/C picked us up within minutes. The office was minutes away and was modern with plenty of staff to make the pick up smooth.
The staff member were dealt with was polite, friendly and courteous. She explained everything fully and made sure I understand the fine print re the excess hold and fuel policy.
We were given a better vehicle than we had booked. A 7 seater top of the range BMW!!
I carried out a full inspection of the vehicle at the handover. There were only 2 identified "marks" but I found several more to be recorded. This is where a lot of people fall. If it's not identified at the pick up you can be assured that if your hand back staff member is ardent, then you will need held to account for it.
The return went smoothly. You hear stories of the vehicle being checked with a fine tooth comb for marks and damage. This wasn't the case, they did a full body inspection but it was clear they were looking for obvious damage. They checked the fuel and that was it... Mini bus took us to the airport... Handover took 10 minutes all in.
Smooth experience from start to finish.

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible! They overcharged me for a damage that i had a full police report and the other drivers personal information. I got charged for some damage that the isnurance should cover since the other driver crashed my car and i had the police report given to the company. Email communication bad also. Total scammers.

The hire went smoothly but after paying for tolls in advance imagine my horror at receiving a fine for unpaid tolls when I arrived back in the UK!

Never rent a car or buy insurance there!

We rented a car in December which unfortunately punctured. As a result, we had to pay 352 euros for a tire replacement, despite having extended insurance. When we rented the car we were informed that the only thing that the insurance would not cover would be loss of key or refueling.

In addition, we lost half a day waiting for roadside assistance and taxi, without any compensation or apology. We have not hit a curb, which Sadorent accuses.

Find another company, and be careful with buying insurances.

Lisboa Portugal Rental - Very Damaged Car

Rented a car in Lisboa, Portugal. The car was dirty and had significant damage to the exterior. I'm shocked they're still renting it out. They also didn't have the car I reserved available when I arrived and delayed our departure by an extra 30 minutes. They claim to be located at the Lisboa airport, but are actually several miles away and are not allowed to bring their shuttle to the departures section of the airport. Most definitely would not recommend, at least not in Portugal.

worst car rental

I’ve been waiting for an hour for the shuttle and another hour on line to get the car.
I paid for a convertible car in advanced and I’ve been told it’s not available, they wanted to give me another car-mini serie that costs less, while refusing to return my money. Their solution was to return the fuel empty.
Don’t come here!

Generally Great service.

Great service when we picked the car up, and when we turned it in. However, we’re returning the car to a different city than where we rented it. There was no information in the paperwork regarding the address of the return location. Since the rental company is not a major company, their facilities are not with the regular Rent-A-Car locations. We called their helpline and didn’t get good information. After several calls we were finally given a street address that fortunately we were able to find using cell phone navigation. Otherwise the car was fine, and we would use them again.

Terrible car rental experience

I have rented a car with Sadorent in Lisbon for a week and that was the most terrible experience I had with car rental.
First, we had to wait for more that 1 hour for someone to pick us up an bring us from the airport meeting point to the rental agency.
Then we had to queue at the agency for more than 30 minutes before being welcomed by a grumpy personnel.
Our BMW car, a 5-year-old model, was then waiting for us dirty, because the karcher was not working (sic). In the trunk the security equipment (spar wheel) has been removed because it is not needed. We had asked for extra equipments (baby seat) that were not installed in the car. The staff eventually brought mismatching parts of the equipment which could not fit in. Safety first.
Rental check-out was also an interesting part of our experience. It is the time where the staff is the most diligent while trying to find any damage that they could charge you.
3 weeks after the checkout 765€ have been charged on our credit card without any prior notification and we don't konw yet the reason.
Next step legal battle.
