Would give 0 stars if possible, switch went smoothly until it came to setting up online. Lots of different codes, take forever to arrive (2 weeks for 3 different letters). Two weeks later again and im... See more

Hideous lenders
Hideous lenders. I purchased a 2022 Chevy Silverado from Vaden Nissan in Bluffton SC. Little did I know I'd be dealing with a bank in india. Their interest rates are hideous. My first call to their customer service the rep said they were located in Dallas Tx. A call today revealed otherwise when I contacted them. I always over pay and they direct the majority of the payment to the interest rate. I detest this hideous bank full of lying scumbags.
I did not give them 5 stars
I did not give them 5 stars. Not sure how that got there.
I would like to give them -100 stars at least.
Santander still has not resolved our payoff and is still taking paymnets and charging us interest. I am going to reprt them to CFPB.
When I ring them they put you on hold…
When I ring them they put you on hold for over an hour each time... with NO RESOLUTIONS! Froze account due to THEIR KYC data capture systems not working properly. GRRR. tIME TO CHANGE BANKS!
Help with Updating surname
Hereford branch, Donna helped me today with updating my surname following getting married last year. She updated the change for joint bank account and mortgage. Process clearly explained, took copies of marriage certificate and ID, and completed form with me. She also ordered a new card for the joint account. Great service!
Worst bank ever
Worst bank ever. Called the customer service number on back of my bank card. Had a person lie to me. An when asked to speak to someone else this person gave me a made up number an extension. I will be closing my accounts an taking my business to another bank. Santander is a horrible bank.
HORRIBLE.
HORRIBLE.. Every person U speak with tells a different story. RUN FAR away. Keep your money in the basement!
Worst bank ever
This bank not even deserve a single star. They have a big problem with their apps. First of all, the account opening experience was crap. I opened current account using their online portal which resulted into an error so I tried again and later found there were 2 accounts created. OK fine till now. Then once both of my accounts were operational I requested to close one of them using their crap app. But to my surprise they closed both of my accounts and my money was moved to some undisclosed account of theirs. And now I am chasing them to refund that from last 3 months... Total crap and rubbish bank. Will Never ever deal with them.
Mis-sold Insurance after being lied to
When I took out my mortgage, many years ago, with santander, the santander employee told me I had to have building insurance for the property I was buying. The santander employee told be, word for word, that the insurance was for 'anything that happens, no matter what'. I was told the house could fall down and the insurance would build it again. So, imagine my anger and disappointment when my roof started leaking. I contact santander, who told me a company called sedgewick would be furthering my claim. Never heard of sedgewick, they certainly aren't who I have payed hundreds of pounds to over the years. Well sedgewick checked the internet and told me my claim was denied as they could find no storm data. So why was there a yellow weather warning in my area, with wind and rain raging.
I was very much mis-sold this insurance. Santa dwr didn't even deal with my issue. At no point did anybody even come out to inspect the damage. It took sedgewick less than 2 hours to decide no, there'll be no pay out. I have been ripped off and as I say mis-sold insurance by a santander employee. Ironically if I had the hundreds of pounds these con artist have taken from me over the years, I would ha e enough to fix my roof myself, which j am apparently going to ha e to do anyway because I was lied to by santander. And there has been little if any customer service to help me. Liars and con artists. I want to change bank entirely now.
Terrible onboarding process
Terrible onboarding process, systems are not working. Apps are not working. When selecting ''English'', it goes to the spanish language in the next steps. You need to create 5 different codes to access next steps. Terrible system and customer service as well. Not continuing the process.
Do not apply for anything Santander…
Do not apply for anything Santander Credit Cards. I have one and it's set up on automatic payments and they charged me late fees and won't reverse them on the phone and want you to submit a ticket. Complete Joke
Secret Deals
This is probably my fourth review and that is saying something. Even with the centralized banking system that is supposedly in place to keep banks from failing a lot of shadow banking goes on. The policies favor the banks not their customers. It's profit over the best interest of the customer. The customer service agent in the disputes department was less than moved by my situation with Ebay over a refund after canceling a purchase. A refund that I never received. Funny how at first the PURCH REFUND was recorded than seemingly it was rescinded on the line below on a mini bank statement CRD PURCHASE in the amount of $26.99 the amount of the item. So what did happen to the money? Because I don't have it. No matter what anyone thinks no institution is TBTF Too Big To Fail. I can't help but wonder where Santander is located whenever I talk with someone from their customer service department many of them barely speak English. Some are so ice cold it's a wonder that they're still breathing. The fact that this keeps happening with both Ebay and Santander and that neither is willing to investigate what happened to my refund says that neither can be trusted. So once again I've been ripped off. They both suck. I keep finding discrepancies in my checking account that I can't account for. I didn't question it before, but after making what probably the fifth cost adjustment to my account in my transaction register and just days after discovering a new discrepancy I began to believe that something is going on. On another matter since this site uses algorithms and can ghost you. I just want to say I ain't no bot. So I hope this review is visible to all not just myself. One more thing to note Santander has faced charges of fraud in several countries Spain, France and Britain. The discrepancies in my checking account aren't as a result of external hackers, I've been through this. No this was internal through Santander.
Contrast in service
This morning we had an appointment with Mrs Ana Pernia Polo from Santander bank El Campello. She was very nice and helpfull in contrast to the guy who refused to help us 2 weeks ago. Mrs Pernia was very professional and solved our problems immediately.
This was the worst mistake I ever made…
This was the worst mistake I ever made me being naive...I was young and inexperienced, so I ended up going with Santander bank, only for 9 -years later to still owe them for a beat up car that wasn't the best in condition . I ended up getting my car repossessed after just two months of not paying . I called them to explain, they didn't care, heartless and ruthless. I even had someone on the phone blame me for losing the car. I still have their car loan on my credit history , and yet nothing. It really sucks that I trusted in them and yet didn't go absolutely nowhere...
Santander Bank : Complaints about banks being irresponsible with customers' money
I am filing a formal complaint against Santander Bank regarding a serious ATM deposit error and the bank’s complete failure to resolve the issue properly.
On December 17, 2025, the branch was crowded, so I used the ATM to deposit $3,000 in cash. The machine malfunctioned during the transaction. When I pressed the cancel button, the ATM returned only $2,700 and provided no receipt, no reference number, and no record of the failed transaction.
I immediately took the $2,700 that was returned and deposited it with a teller inside the branch. The branch staff informed me that they could not open the ATM and instructed me to call and file a claim for the missing $300. I filed the claim the same day and was given a claim number.
Ten days later, without any explanation, $2,700 was deposited into my account by the bank. One week after that, the same $2,700 was withdrawn again from my account. For the next two months, I called almost every week. Each time, I was given a new reference number, but no one resolved the issue.
Today, I was finally told that the claim was denied because there was no extra $300 found inside the machine.
This response is completely unacceptable. The ATM malfunctioned during my deposit. I did not receive my full $3,000 back. The bank cannot simply say that there was no extra cash found and close the case. The missing $300 did not simply disappear. If the machine failed during the transaction, the bank is responsible for properly investigating and reconciling the error. Customers should not be forced to absorb losses caused by a bank’s equipment malfunction.
I am demanding a proper investigation, a full audit of the ATM records from December 17, 2025, and reimbursement of the missing $300. If this matter is not resolved immediately, I will escalate this complaint to the appropriate regulatory and consumer protection authorities.
This situation reflects extremely poor customer service and a lack of accountability.
Expect that I will be moving elsewhere soon
I've only recently moved to Santander, I selected a date to switch, it was accepted and I was then told it would be 6 days later. Waited ages for 2 letters before I could use the app. Can't scan in cheques using the app despite repeated attempts. Local branch is absent from their list of branches i.e. you search the list of branches on their website and it's not listed. Expect that I will be moving elsewhere soon.
Not legally compliant
Not legally compliant
Not legally compliant. Was completely mis-sold an item and merchant wouldn't help me return it. Contacted Santander and attached all required information and they sent me a letter asking for things I had already provided. I wrote this on the letter and sent it back and they closed the claim. Laughable customer service, will simply use other banks. Avoid these jokers at all costs, lucky for me it was an amount I can swallow.
Seems banks can help themselves to YOUR money
I will start this review by agreeing with many others in that Santander is a useless, uncaring bank that makes rules up to suit itself.
A CHILD account was set up. Told that it could never go overdrawn etc etc. Somehow his account did go overdrawn without even realising for 2 days.
My son called the bank and was told to call back when accompanied by an over 18 adult.
So we called back and waited in the queje again. We were told that even though his account is now a couple of hundred in credit that he has to wait until Friday (its Monday today) to access his money. His card is still blocked even though they said it was not. He cannot even transfer money to another account.
In effect Santander have STOLEN his money for 5 days. It should not be allowed and is yet another disgusting ploy that show banks for what they really are. A waste of time, an intrusion into peoples lives and its an absolute disgrace that they can hold someones money like a ransom. Disgusted with Santander as THEY allowed the account to overdraw yet they punish my son for that!!!
Worst Bank Ever
I have a car loan with them, unfortunately and I regret it.
On December 4, 2025, I made my first car loan payment, I want to make partial payments biweekly, so I made a partial payment on December 19th, 2025. Both of these payments I made them with my banking info (because that's the only free option they offer) on their website. Those payments went through with no problems, when I tried making another partial payment on 12-31-2025 with my banking info and all of a sudden that payment declined. It gave me a error message stating that my banking info couldn't be found ( even though they found it twice before and payments were process those times) and to call Santander, so I called. They told me to call my bank to see if maybe there was an issue with my bank, so at that time I needed to make payment because payment was due so I gave my debit card and paid $3.99 extra to be able to process it. I called my bank and my bank told me there was no issues on their end.
I called Santander on January 6 2026 ( because again I couldn't make payment with my banking information), spoke to "a manager" who told me they were going to look into this and call me back, but they never did.
I called Santander back again on January 16, 2026 to see if this was resolved and they informed me that it takes 3 months and in Feb I will be able to make payment with my banking information. I called AGAIN on 2-13-2026 to make payment with my banking information and guess what? (Yup, you guessed it) I was unable to make payment with my banking information, at this point I am so upset because everytime I can't make payment with my banking information, I have to make payment with my debit card, which they charge $3.99 each time you use it ( And making biweekly payments, those $3.99 adds up).
They don't know what they are doing. They are rude and give you wrong information just to get you off the phone. All I want is to:
1. Be able to make payments for free with my banking information
2. Get refunded all those extra costs I had to pay due to wrong information
3. For Santander to take FULL accountability and to do better by their customers.
4. Stop scamming people
Santander bank is a dinosaur bank
Santander bank is a dinosaur and we all know what happened to dinosaurs....
My account was made dormant - but I was not aware - a large payment into this account went missing.
The left and and the right hand at Santander are COMPLETELY disjointed.
I called our Relationship Manager - no reply.
I emailed our Relationship Manager - no reply.
Allica bank are a LOT easier to do business with (and offer better interest).
SANTANDER TEAM : you need to wake up.
I have for some reason been banking…
I have for some reason been banking with santander for some 20 years?I am a 78 year old English man.who likes to spend 6 months a year on holiday in kenya..santander has caused me endless problems. Four years ago they stop my account. Accusing me of laundering money..I was in kenya and had no way of providing my innocence. It cost me loads money..but today I tried to pay jamboair for flight tickets home.payed with card.no confirmation number was sent from Santander so flight was cancelled??there is a long list I could complain about over the years..I like to pay for shopping in Kenya with my credit card. Just before I left UK they cancelled my credit card and charged lots of money on card transactions I made for shopping??they have recently stopped my list of payees on my account. Making it difficult and causing me to pay late payment charges to hmrc for tax..wene I ask why with use of my online banking.i was told I had not used my payees for 18 months..I sent proof that I HAD.if I was younger perhaps I could do more to get compensation..but they make it impossible. Even not responding to my letters
