Craftsmanship at its best

Craftsmanship at its best! Richard first repaired some windows for me back in 2015 at my previous listed property and so impressed was I that I invited him and his team back to my latest property - again listed. I am beyond grateful to them all as this ‘small renovation project’ turned out to be significantly more than a bit of repair and update!!! Richard has worked tirelessly with the Heritage and conservation authorities and our architect and produced a level of work that both are extremely impressed with - so much so that they have sought his advice on other projects! What started out as windows has turned into a complete renovation and the teams attention to detail and ability is second to none. Richard’s knowledge of architecture, materials and his respect for his craft has meant that the end result is stunning, our Georgian farmhouse has been restored to its former beauty at Richard’s hands. I have recommended Richard to several friends, several people during this experience have employed him based on what they’ve seen at my house and the Listed Building Authority in our area were highly complimentary of his work. I’d be happy to give visual examples to any future client and I thank Richard and his team for their outstanding work and wish them well as they go from strength to strength.

Conrgratulation to Richard and his team. Although this job was never going to be straight forward my thoughs and ideas were always listened to, Richard and his team came up with the solutions and installed my lovely new windows on time and with great care. I can highly recomend Sask Repairs UK and look forward to working with them again.

Really happy with this company

Really happy with this company. The team worked really hard and always left the area they were working on clean and tidy. My new windows and doors have transformed my tired looking house, I never envisaged it would look this amazing.
Thank you Sash Repairs team and Richard for listening to my brief and making me one happy customer!
I would highly recommend this company.

Absolutely terrible.

To add to my wifes' review, Richard will tell you in his sales pitch that your deposit will buy all the glass, wood, hardware etc & everything will be ready for the start date - this didn’t happen & after 6 months, apart from loads of faulty glass, bad workmanship & bad service, he never even ordered or fitted our dorma office window - Richard himself removed a 7cm section of the outside frame of this window for “investigative” purposes back in November, decided he didn’t want to do it & that’s how our window has been left.

They had to repair one of our back staircase windows as we had decided it would be a bottom opener instead of a top opener. The team were informed in plenty of time of this but they still did it as a top opener & when they finally changed it to a bottom opener they made such a mess of it that we can now see daylight vertically between the sashes & therefore it is very draughty. This is circled blue in 2 of the pics which unfortunately doesn’t do it justice on my google review. We’ve had to stuff cotton wool in the gap to stop the draught.

Some of the 11 windows they replaced the entire frame on have a smaller bottom bar on the sashes even though they were meant to be replicas of our original sashes & as such our uplifters don’t fit on them. We actually had to source all the hardware ourselves in the end as Richard didn’t buy the catches or uplifters we chose even though we gave him the company details that stocked them. These windows/frames were also made thinner depth wise, no doubt as it was cheaper so a 2” section of wood had to be fitted to our sills to bridge the gap left & this has now already started to split away from the original sill circled red. The picture showing the bare brick round one window is how we had to live with 11 windows for 3 months.

To show just how much more of a bodge Richard was prepared to do to our house, when the team fitted all the architrave wrong so it was overhanging our sills & looked a total mess, Richard’s solution was to extend out our 170 year old window sills instead of taking the architrave off & doing it properly - when I said that wasn’t an option, Richard got very argumentative & basically said this was our fault as we wanted the architrave fitted the way they had done it & we’re changing our minds - from the pics on my google review please tell me if anyone would have wanted their architrave fitted in this way?????

To add insult to injury we have had a fully Certass approved window contractor out to look at our windows & apparently 18 of our windows should have had safety glass in the lower pane as they sit below the 80cm threshold which building standards state safety glass should be fitted in. Richard has also fitted glass units in the same window which have 2 different types of beading so the sash units don’t even match top & bottom. There was nothing consistent or scheduled about this installation & was carried out in such a hap hazard way that we have no idea if any of our windows have actually had all their coats of paint – we suspect not!

All in all, I cannot reiterate how stressful & awful dealing with SRUK has been & if after reading my review you are still taken in by Richard’s sales pitch & think you will have a quality job finished on time then good luck to you. He may talk a good talk but that’s all it is!!!! If you ask Richard about our reviews he will probably tell you he’s taking us to court & say we were difficult or kept changing our minds - nothing is further from the truth & if he wants to take this to court then bring it on - he’s the one out of contract by failing to complete a quality job in a reasonable timescale!!!

Steer well clear!

I would strenuously suggest you look elsewhere.

Firstly SRUK is not a fully approved installer by Certass, they're only an associated member which means they pay money to be "in the club" but cannot legally register the installation & give you a Certass backed guarantee which means if something goes wrong like it did in our case, Certass wont help you.

SRUK have a virtual office/0800 number so the only way to contact them is on Richard Keals (RK) email & mobile phone or Gail Whitings email & if they dont want to respond then they dont!!!! They do however we found out, operate out of a unit in Merlin Court on the Northfields industrial estate in Market Deeping.

After 6 months we terminated SRUK replacing the 30 plus windows in our house as the quality is terrible & the service is terrible. We have had over 10 pieces of faulty glass, glass where the black spacer is not in the wooden rebate of the sash, an argon filled unit that has failed after only 5 months, replacement sills which have split after only a few months, sashes with the bottoms planed wonky, internal architrave fitted overhanging our window sills, windows frames left with bare brick showing for nearly 3 months, sashes that dont meet in the middle so you cant fit a catch, damage to our property, - the list goes on!!

Although it started off quite promising, after about a month they just disappeared off site for nearly 3 weeks with out any warning having ripped all the architraves off 11 of our window frames which were due to be replaced leaving us living in an awful mess. We never knew from one day to the next if they were going to turn up & in the end we had to ask RK to text us each day to say whether they were coming or not & even then sometimes they didnt turn up when he said they would. We just had excuse after excuse - we were told the glass had turned up, then it hadn't, then it was faulty, he needed to move a machine, he had important issues to attend to (??) & then sometimes he just wouldnt even respond. I think RK seriously underestimated how long this project would take, had already booked other work in after the time he thought he would be finished by & our job became a fill in type working around his other jobs!! By early November we had seen a bad google review & could totally relate to everything it said & were absolutely sick with worry by this point as we had already got quite a few faulty windows & the 11 windows with all the architrave ripped off. We actually witheld one of the interim invoices payment (we had paid £30k by this point) & asked RK to come over & explained our concerns & that we had seen the google review & RK dismissed it in a very blaze fashion saying it was all her fault & that she kept changing her mind!! RK did agree however that we would pay this next £10k on a pro rata basis when we saw some more windows being installed & the faulty ones replaced & he gave us a deadline of 21/11/22. Work continued very sporadically but by xmas we still did not have one completed window so we gave them till late February to finish the job, then found more faulty glass so gave them an extended deadline till 07/03/23 which was more than 3 months after he said they would finish. To say any repairs were rushed & badly finished is an understatement. They repaired one wonky sash in our bay window & it now sits nearly 2cm lower than the sash immediately next to it. We have been left with faulty glass, paint, fingerprints, silicone etc on the inside & outside of our windows, filler not rubbed down & some windows have not even been finished paint wise.

All in all its been a horrible & very stressful experience. For all the promises in his sales pitch about having old fashioned values, always finishing a job on time , being a perfectionist etc etc when things started to go wrong, RK became arguamentative saying we were the ones at fault. To date we have actually paid up all we owed

I have lodged a complaint with Certass, registered a case with the CAB & am on the waiting list for building control to come out & assess the installation.

Excellent job

I have recently had a couple of sash windows replaced by the team at Sash Repairs UK and I couldn’t be happier. The work is spot on and the service levels exceptional. What they said they were going to do was done in exactly the way it was set out.
Highly recommended

Outstanding couldn't be happier

I have just had all new windows and doors fitted for My home ( previously had single glazed from when the property was first built ) the team couldn't have been more helpful and a delite to deal with. Everything was explained carefully so I had a good understanding of what would be happening and the ratings I think it was u-vlaue? The colour is very stylish and since having these fitted I'm already noticing a massive difference within my home and energy bills. It didn't take to long to sort out and I was kept informed every step of the way ( I believe there was an issue with the supplier delivering as something unfortunately broke but its glass I expect that to happen ) but the team handled it very quickly and I wasn't left out of the loop! I can't thank you guys enough just in time for Christmas.

Shocking beyond belief!

In a nutshell. We paid having received a visit and quote 10 months back in early Dec and paid a 40% deposit 9th Dec 2021 Then another 40% demand in June 2022. They have asked for more money than the work they have done, and this 3 tier payment system is probably designed to maximise what they get, so they can decide to walk off when they please. And by that go off and work on numerous other jobs whilst leaving us and who knows who else, just waiting and waiting and waiting. "I like to finish a job before moving on to the next" RK told me. Really?? "I have old fashioned values" They do not meet mine in any regard!

Which if I could add photos I would do to show the mess that my home has been left in. I've heard every excuse under the sun. What I say is factual and true. Their excuses including but not limited to, bereavement and sickness. Not part of a professional contract. The work is so poor that I have had an independent body assess the job. Who told me it looked like it was from the 1960's. Numerous mistakes which they blamed me for. Wrong glass in bathroom window.

Then I had to source the glass style myself for another window. They then get it and put it in the wrong window. Then they re-order and tell me the furnace has broken. So they re order and then tell me the glass is broken. Yet again, they tell me the next glass is broken. And finally with this one style of glass only mind you -that the company has run out of sand, and we live on an island! I can't even begin to fathom how this serves as legitimate excuses. I like the truth.

I like professional conduct and I will not say something that isn't true for any reason. So terrible is this experience that I would strongly urge anyone to go elsewhere. I have written complaint letters that have totally been ignored. Not a single effort has been made to address or rectify. I have holes in the walls, cracks round the frames, they ripped off the cornice round one window they have just ignored completely!

There is paint all over the glass. They have no idea of snagging and making good. Half the windows that have been done don't work properly or open. The sash bars are made of some kind of composite MDF type thing. Which is not what I paid for. The painting is shoddy and uneven. Some parts of the windows haven't been painted at all. I've been threatened, blamed, had unsolicited criticisms levied at my home in order to try to expand the job.

They have had numerous complaint emails and letters all of which have been ignored. They are also advertising themselves as being accredited. Which they are not as I contacted 3 external bodies of which they are advertising (Misrepresentation) 2 of those 3 I contacted on their website. They even blocked us from calling their so called phone service. Who are not on site. So it is extremely difficult to get anywhere with these people. So lacking in professional conduct. It is probably the worst I have ever seen. I've had a window frame in my bathroom since the end of May 22. They have just left it there, and not even bothered to ask me if it is an inconvenience.

I am a stickler for professionalism in every aspect! I have no difficulty saying what I experience. And its funny how they have just ignored every complaint I have made to date. 9th Sept 22 is the day I'm writing this as they still have not finished the job and you cannot put multiple days or even months on the date of experience so I will put one of the last days they were here 8 June 22 - I gave them a final completion date of the end of Aug 22 to complete the job in full! They have NOT. They are in breach of their contract despite coming back on the 15th Sept 22 in email where they said they would complete all works, that the owner RK would personally sign off on the quality and issue a 5 year guarantee. What they actually did that day... They installed the final window with incorrect glass which is not what I asked for in any regard! I specifically said I went maximum light!! Left pink foam filler on view round all the frame and exterior! Along with large gaps and cracks in the wall. Again ignored. Repeatedly argued with me about the work that was done and then they decided they don’t want to attend to the other window that hadn’t been done. The son! Have ignored the missing cornice entirely which was ripped off months ago by RK the owner of the business and not once have they provided a replacement. Just damaging peoples homes and then walking away! The son who came that day. Said and I quote “I’ve been told not to finish the job.” ! So you are in breach of the contract!!

Replacement of Grade II sash windows

Richard and team, thank you so much for your time and consideration with the installation of my windows. I know that it wasn't a particularly straight forward job but your team put in such a lot of effort to make them look so good. I am very pleased with finished result and have had a lot of very positive comments about them.
Please thank all of your workmen/craftsmen for me.

We have a 200+ year old cottage with 5…

We have a 200+ year old cottage with 5 sash windows at the front which were single glazed, loose fitting (rattling in the wind) and suffering from some areas of damp and rotting timber.

We wanted to keep the character of the house (we live in a conservation area), but also to improve security and thermal performance of the windows for our own comfort.

Richard came out to do a full site survey and advised us on our options. He was knowledgeable and clearly loves wooden sash windows! Richard followed up his visit with two different quotes, and we opted for brand new sealed double glazed sashes but retaining and repairing the original outer frames. We also specified brass locks and window furniture, argon purging and the quote included full repainting of the new sashes inside and out. Richard also arranged a paint matching service so that the new sashes would colour match the previous Little Green Paint company finish.

Richards' 3 man team of installers, ably led by Jamie, were cheerful, obliging and efficient -and had a great capacity for tea and biscuits! The work was completed in the 5 day time frame indicated, despite some heavy showers at times.
Attention to detail was very good and the guys clearly care about their work.

We would happily recommend this local Lincolnshire company to be entrusted with revitalising your tired old sashes..our new ones look great, work well and we're done at a good price for the high quality work undertaken.

Happy to recommend Sash Repairs UK👍.

Replacement of broken panes - excellent, well priced

John did a great job from start (quote and initial discussion) to finish (leaving the site clean and the job pristine. Such a lovely company to work with, correctly priced, very knowledgable and so courteous. It wasn't even a big job (replacement of two broken panes) but they did treat us with great consideration nonetheless.
