  1. Telecommunications service provider

Written by the company

Sayph was founded by a mother of two and a father of three who became increasingly concerned that parents were being forced to choose between giving their children unrestricted smartphones or no phone at all. Many parents want their children to have the benefits of staying connected, being contactable and gaining independence. At the same time, they are understandably concerned about unrestricted access to social media, online strangers, addictive apps and age-inappropriate content. Too often, the choice feels like an all-or-nothing decision between a fully featured smartphone and no phone at all. We believe families deserve a better option. Sayph provides smartphones designed specifically for children. Our phones are easy to set up and allow parents to stay connected with their children, while maintaining meaningful oversight over how the device is used. Contacts, apps and communication features can all be managed by parents through an easy-to-use web app, helping families introduce technology gradually and responsibly. Our mission is simple: to give children the benefits of technology without exposing them to unnecessary risks before they are ready. We’re a British family-focused company, and many of the conversations that led to Sayph began around kitchen tables and at the school gates. We understand the pressures parents face when children start asking for a phone, and we know there is rarely a one-size-fits-all answer. The Sayph phone isn’t designed to maximise screen time, generate endless notifications or draw children into algorithm-driven feeds. We believe childhood should be protected, independence should be encouraged, and technology should serve families—not the other way around.

A no brainer safer solution for tweens+

Getting a mobile phone for my son started as a stressful reality of 11+…

I wanted him to have a lifeline as he started walking alone, be able to chat securely with friends and take photos and videos of things if he wants to.

However I did not want him to have any access to social media or be on his phone 24/7 with 100s of WhatsApp messages pinging every 5 minutes!

Sayph solved the problem for me about 6 months ago for me and I am now locked and loaded whilst other parents navigate the challenge…

He has a phone which looks modern and ‘proper’, the ability to text / talk to friends 1:1 so feels connected, and can now listen to radio on the move. I know where he is at all times via its GPS and get an alert if he goes off course, plus have to approve all his contacts.

So as far as I am concerned, for an 11yr old and the way social media restrictions are going for under 16, it’s a win:win!

Thank you so much Eleanor, for taking the time to write this review.

Your concerns mirror the challenge facing many parents today, so it's great to hear that Sayph is providing the right balance for your family - keeping your son connected, while helping to protect him from things that were not designed with children in mind.

It's especially encouraging to hear that the location alerts and parent-approved contacts are giving you peace of mind while he gains independence.

Thank you again for your support, and for being part of the Sayph community.

Everything We Wanted in a First Phone

We got a Sayph Phone for our 11-year-old son, and it has been brilliant. It’s simple for him to use, while the parental controls and safety features give us real peace of mind.

The addition recently of the ‘routine feature’ has been a bit of a game changer. We can set the phone to ‘sleep’ for a period. Now there's no worry of him forgetting to turn his phone back on after school as it becomes usable again at the time we set to coincide with school getting out.

The phone offers just the right balance for a first phone: it gives our son more freedom while helping us stay on top of his online safety. Having the ability to veto his contacts is reassuring too so that we can trust who he is in contact with.

Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the Sayph Phone. It's a trustworthy first phone for our son I would gladly recommend it to any family looking for a safe and reassuring way to stay connected with their child beginning to want their independence

Thank you so much, Hamish, for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review.

It's wonderful to hear that Sayph is providing the balance your family was looking for; giving your son independence and giving you peace of mind.

We're also pleased to hear feedback on the routines feature, particularly as the benefit you describe was not one we had thought of when we created it.

Thank you again for your support and for trusting Sayph to provide a safer smartphone experience for your son.

The perfect phone solution for our child

I couldn’t recommend a Sayph phone more. We live in an area with a middle school system that starts in Year 5, we found that many children already had smartphones, and even teachers seemed to expect pupils to have a mobile phone. That never sat comfortably with us.

Eventually, we gave in and bought a basic Nokia-style phone for calls and texts, but it soon got “lost” — probably because it wasn’t considered cool enough. We switched to a Sayph phone when our son was in Year 7.

When we discovered Sayph, it felt like the perfect solution. It looks like a modern smartphone, which our son was happy with, but it provides the safety and peace of mind we were looking for as parents.

We can see our son's location (and only we can), control who he can contact, and view his calls and messages when needed. He can’t send or receive images on this phone - although we can choose contacts that he can send or receive images to and from. There’s no internet access and no inappropriate apps to worry about.

For us, it’s taken one major concern off the worry list and given our son the independence he wanted in a safe, controlled way.

We're sure your experience will resonate with many parents - we know it can be difficult to balance children's need for independence with concerns about smartphones, social media and online safety, which is why we built Sayph.

We're delighted that our phone has taken something off your worry list, while giving your son independence.
