I'd used After Effects before but always felt a bit out of my depth. The School of Motion After Effects Kickstarter course made me a lot more confident in using the programme and I learned so much. The set-up is great, the lessons are fun and there's a ton of cool content that just keeps your creative juices flowing.

I took a course from the School of Motion Animation Bootcamp and I really liked the course. This course has given me a lot of new knowledge. I learned how to work with the graph editor to control the speed and values in the animation. I learned a lot of nuances about the principles of animation, learned how to apply them. I realized how to make my animation more interesting for the viewer. I learned a lot of useful things about building a career in motion design. And I got a lot of ideas for my projects for my portfolio. SOM thank you for such a high-quality and useful course.

Very relaxing paced schooling, with very positive atmosphere. Go at your own pace, and turn in your work for helpful critique.

LOVED this class! Hugely helpful. One minor annoyance is the website - the numbered tabs on the right within each week seem a little laborious. A lot of clicking to open and close each section to see what is inside. Not sure how this could be remedied, as it condenses the material so you don't have to scroll down, but it still feels a little clunky. The other suggestion is to send out fewer emails. I loved reading them and they definitely add some humor and cheering-on in my inbox, but it's still my inbox, a place not a lot of us love. Overall though, I'm recommending this class to others. Cheers!

I found taking School of Motion’s Animation Bootcamp course to be an excellent experience. Although I was already an experienced motion graphics artist, I learned a lot of new techniques and approaches.
Having TAs and fellow students providing critiques of my work was invaluable.
It was a well planned course that I felt was well worth the cost.

Excellent course, Joey was the instructor for Animation Bootcamp and he was not only technically talented but also very enthusiastic and gave valuable practical advice. His energy was motivating and access to podcast interviews was actually very interesting and valuable.

I have followed the Animation Bootcamp course and I enjoyed every second of it. It's an intense course with lots of information but it comes with great interaction with a teacher who gives clear feedback. This results in - if you put in the right amount of effort - a very interesting and much to learn from course.

School of Motion is the best place to learn about animation and design.

For the beginner and even those with a basic grasp of After Effect, AE Kickstarter through SOM is a great course to, well, kickstart a solid grasp of the program. Each week's curriculum builds on the previous week. Really enjoyed Nol's teaching style, his lectures are foundational and designed to follow along.
Each week aside from the core lesson is chock full of helpful, informative and inspirational extras like interviews, tips, mograph history, real world examples where motion graphics are used commercially. Each student is assigned a Teacher Assistant (TA) who reviews and critiques your homework. It is so worth the investment not just in tuition but in time. There is a lot of ground covered in the semester and like any college level course be mindful to get the most value there will need to be some time invested.

I'm very excited about the AE Kickstarter course and can highly recommend it! I learned more than I could hope for. The framework with the videos and the weekly task, make it very easy to follow and learn. The tasks were always clear and fun to do. Nol Honig is a very likeable teacher and I enjoyed watching him in his tutorials. I appreciated the podcasts and interviews which expanded my view, that motion design is not only about the skill in After Effects, but also about the community and history.
I'm almost a bit sad, that the course is already over.

One of the best things I decided to do in my life. Very good courses, TAs are very helpful. All concept of courses, social groups, podcasts, etc is very good organized.

Even if I already have a lot of experience with motion design I was able to learn a lot from Advance Motion Methods course. It is totally worth investing money into a course!

I've been using Photoshop and Illustrator for years, but I only knew it well enough to hack my way through whatever simple task I needed it for at the time. What I never really learned was how to use these tools in an efficient and creative way, to come up with original concepts and to use the best practices, so I didn't waste time trying to figure out how to do something new every time. And this was the right class to learn these things.

School of Motion courses are the best. I have taken lots of courses from a lot of places to learn 2d and 3d graphics, animation and design over the years, and nothing is as comprehensive or well put together. Having a motion designer critique your work and meeting deadlines is key; otherwise, you could do tutorials for years and not get anywhere. SOM has all the elements in one package.

Learning to code expressions revealed to me that there's a whole side of After Effects that I had no idea existed. It's amazing the powerful, complex animations you can build using expression language — animations that'd be impossible to make any other way.

As a professional video producer with years of experience working with After Effects, I found this class to be incredibly informative and enjoyable. Over the 12 weeks, you build up a library of expression skills that are very applicable to real-life projects. I found the course to be challenging, but not overwhelming. It started out somewhat easy, and then ramped up toward the second half of the course. The focus weeks throughout (aka no new assignments) and flexible deadlines were also helpful for the few exceptionally challenging projects. Nol and Zack were fun and helpful instructors — though be warned, they crack a lot of really bad jokes — and the TA consistently had helpful tips and feedback.

Overall, I learned a ton from this class, and would highly recommend to any intermediate After Effects user who wants to take their skills to a new level.

Learned so much in a very short time. Very good curriculum and teachers!
