Terrible delivery and customer service
We paid just over £2000 for a leather settee and chair. They came to deliver it today and couldn't get it through the door. We have had this problem in the past so I had someone on standby to come and take the front window out if need be. When I asked them if they could just give me 30 minutes to get the window fitter over to remove the window, they refused point blank saying that they are only allowed 10 minutes for each delivery and it wasnt negotiable at all. As it was pouring down with rain I couldn't ask them to leave it on the patio so they loaded it back on the van and drove off. I went over to the store and they didn't want to know and were no help at all (They've got your money so don't care). I think that their delivery service is diabolical when you spend all that money and they can't even give you a bit of leeway. I had a day off work to wait in for the delivery. The store said that I'll have to wait now until 21st March to have the suite delivered, so that will cost me another days holiday from work plus the fact that we will have to sit on garden chairs for the next 9 or so days. I will never spend any more money or give them any more business ever again. If there was a zero stars thats the score they'd get.

I was then passed to an admin guy at the wakefield store (when i had actually asked them to find out where my letters had gone!)who advised if i went in to the store in person the manager would give me an immediate refund
Went to the store today and the manager refused to give me a refund without first "lifting the carpet"
What would have happened if i had taken rogers advice and taken it up and binned it to repaint!!!
Already had 3 days off for a carpet that should have been in for christmas (1 to have it measured and priced,1 to have it fitted and 1 to have assessors in)
Do not wish to take another day off work when we have suffered very badly at these peoples hands!!

DISGRACEFUL COMPANY SCS COLCHESTER They attempted to deliver a sofa to my mother who is 91, hard of hearing, partially sighted and disabled, the delivery drivers smashed the glass in the door trying to get it in and then promptly gave up and just left the sofa and told her to ring a number to complain. I then managed to get the sofa in on my own without any damage! When you ring the number they transfer you to someone else in BASILDON who are not interested and never return the calls! I have rung then 12 times to try and get the smashed door fixed and they are rude and aggressive and refuse to sort it out. DONT BUY FROM SCS

If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered a £1400 sofa which was delivered damaged, SCS then scheduled an appointment to fix it and 7 failed appointments and 7 months later I still have a damaged sofa. Poor complaint handling and poor service in store at point of sale.
Follow-up on post 'False hope'
Following my post, 'False hope' yesterday I promptly received a reply this morning with a request to send contact details to the 'Head Office' email address. I replied with the details including my mobile at 10.09am.
Still no one has contacted me today to explain why the carpet assessor did not turn up yesterday.

Leather sofas
To whom this may concern,
I am writing my final response in relation to the above matters and to also make a formal complaint in writing in regards to an email I have received from GEMMA TOWNS
first off I am extremely upset and annoyed at the way I have been treated and lied to since raising concerns with my sofas that I got from your company in may 2017 making them less than a year old they are not fit for purpose
I will go from the beginning I telephoned you to say that my three seater sofa had leather peeling off and was allocated an appointment to have this looked at this took place and the technician who attended admitted to me that this is a manfacturing fault and that a repair would be carried out I was not informed at the time that there was a comments box in which I could write my views on the matter as I would have stated at the time that I would not be willing or happy to accept a repair on a sofa that has a fault and that is only 9 months old
An appointment was made for the 9/2/2017 for this repair to take place but I received a telephone call informing me that the appointment was going to be cancelled this call was made to me on the 8/2/2017 very late in the afternoon leaving me highly inconveinced at the very short notice as I had changed plans and appointments around for this to take place the appointment was rescheduled by your company not myself with a date that was conveinent to your company and not myself unfortuneatly the re sheduled date was not able to take place and I called the customer service number to inform them of this who said they would contact the engineer and tell him this I also stated then I was not allowing the repair to take place because I could not be guaranteed that the leather repair would match and that it would also stick out like a saw thumb and not match the rest of my sofas as they are both matching units I was assured on the telephone that the engineer would be contacted and low and behold he was not informed as later that evening I received a call from the engineer informing me of an arrival time it was then that I informed him I had called and advised I would not be available to allow access to my property as I had a very important appointment I had to attend he said he would make a report stating that I was not allowing or prepaired to allow a repair to take place
during this time I also called the customer service number again as I had discovered that my matching two seater sofa had also become faulty with the stitching coming undone at the top of the cushions again an engineer was sent out who attended my property and the experience this time around was awful I felt so belittled and bullied by this individual and made to feel as if I am thick dumb and stupid and he blamed me and my family for this damage which I will state in writing for the first and last time we did not cause the damage to our two seater sofa so this is not an accidental problem with this sofa the stitching on the seems has come undone so how we can be blamed is beyond me for this these two units are poorly made and not fit for purpose whilst the engineer was here he made me feel as if I had wasted his time I also felt very intimidated by him and this is in my own home I should not be made to feel like that in my own property he pointed out that there was a comments box on his paperwork where I could write my views and comments which I said I wanted to do but your engineer stood by my side and told me what to write I did as he asked as I felt very unsafe and intimidated by this point and just wanted him out of my house as soon as I had managed to get your engineer out of my house I immediatley called your customer services number and informed them of my distress and that the comments that were written on his paperwork I was coerced into writing and the person I spoke to assured me this had been noted down along with how your engineer had conducted himself whilst in my home and that I was made to feel uneasy over the whole appointment this engineer needs to be retrained and told not to bully people into writing what he wants on the paperwork had I again had the proper oppertunity I would have written very different comments stating that how unhappy I am over this whole situation I was also told by your engineer that even if a repair was offered to me on the two seater sofa that this would not rectify the problem and that it will keep coming open so basically I am stuck with a unit that you are not willing to repair and that is not repairable again a waste of my money
I have tried to the best of my ability to be amicable and resolve the issues I am facing with regards to the furniture I have purchased from scs all I wanted was for the sofas to be replaced with ones of my choice and be it I picked out more expensive ones that I was willing to pay the difference but now I am extremely upset and feel very let down by scs as a whole I dont think your approach to customers is fair or proffessional I basically feel that I have had £1222 taken from me which I paid in good faith and when asked to also for two sofas that are ruined and have not lasted even a year and that I have been blamed for the issues I have raised with both units I am now left with two sofas that look awful after just 9 months of use and £1222 out of pocket I did not purchase these sofas to be ornaments I purchased them to be used which they have in the correct manner I am also extremely upset and distressed at an email I recieved today from GEMMA TOWN I find that this email is extremely rude and to be quite honest just plain nasty the part that has caused me great upset and distress with regards to this email is the line written as follows "THE CONCERNS ARE DUE TO CONDITIONS WITHIN THE HOME" this remark has caused great upset as this jumped up rude little no body has never been in my home or seen either sofas that scs supplied to me the email as a whole is just plain rude and nasty and I want this lady dealt with as I am complaining highly as I have never been rude to her I am also annoyed at the fact the customer services people do nothing but lie to you I was told when I received your letter dated 22/02/2017 that my case and paperwork had been forwarded onto retail RDA and I was advised to call them to take this further which I did for them to inform me that in actual fact no paperwork had been sent by scs again more lies I was told it has taken me to open up a case with them myself
me and my family are now left to wait for the RDA people wasting yet more time when this whole situation could have been avoided and your company could have made more money from me I will never ever ever shop again with scs as I have been lied to and treated awfully and robbed of £1222 and left with two sofas that I would not expect a dog to sit on I wish I had done my homework and checked other peoples views and feedback as I have discovered that I am not the only one that has bad service and the lies and rudeness from scs me and my family are now having to face forking out more money to replace these poor quality sofas that ARE LESS 1 YEARS OLD which we will now have to save hard to afford to do you scs should be ashamed of yourselfs you have completely destroyed our faith in your company I really do hope you are proud of yourselfs

Worst Customer Experience!
I purchased a sofa from the Luton store with excitement to decorate my home after several years, I had several issues and when trying to communicate with the store to resolve them there were continuously problems they could not resolve. Myself and my family members were spoken with utter disgust by the Admin worker named Shadz who was no help at all and constantly caused more issues for me. I recommend anybody purchasing a sofa not to visit this company as I had the worst experience and would not wish it upon anyone.
SCS St Helens - AVOID, the worst company I have ever dealt with and the only thing they won't fail at is to disappoint you!

Ordered carpet from the St. Helens store, from the day the surveyor was due to come out it went down hill. Day of the carpet fitting started with them telling me I had to remove the old carpet, fitters were awful and laid striped carpet not straight and despite saying on the day they didn't care.
Went into store to resolve and was given a post it note with an email address to send details, then spoken about rudely whilst I stood their.
Manager of carpet fitter reviewed photos and said they don't guarantee stripes are straight, when asked why not told on order not suitable for stairs no response given.
Complained to CEO and received a call, surveyor came out and agreed poor job however no return call to resolve. Attended store to be told will agree replacement as gesture of good will. Waited weeks and then new fitters turned up removed carpet and then discovered store had ordered wrong size.
Weeks later they arrive with the right size but no grippers to fit.
Care kit despite numerous appointments and promises to deliver didn't happen for nearly to months and many calls and visits.
Nearly three months later and I finally have a carpet down and got all the inconvenience, stress and giving up three Saturdays for fitters not including visits in the week, visits to shore as they simply don't answer the phone, offered fifty pound compensation. The worst company I have ever dealt with and an absolute joke, will never deal with again. Did plan on having four other rooms done with them and now so glad I didn't order all at the same time, will be using another company.

Cortonwood - AVOID - TERRIBLE AFTER SALES CARE
Bought a table and chairs set from them just before new year, delivery was booked in, then received a call to say my delivery was now delayed no mention of when or why, next day scs delivery turned up unexpectedly at my door with my order but missing 2 chairs which we had paid extra for. I gave it a few days still no contact from them. I went into the store to query my chairs the girl behind the desk said looked like my order had been placed wrong why wasn't i told there would be a delay), someone would call me next day - no one rang. A few days later i went in again got told there was nothing they could do (point blank). we contacted scs via social media and they directed us back to the store, i contacted headoffice was directed to a complaints voicemail where a few hours later i received a call back from a vague voicemail who didn't even say they were calling from. Called the store again spoke to simon the manager - he took no responsibility for the bad customer service of his staff on the desk, he gave me million excuses told me they were told just after i purchased the chairs there was a 12 week delay - again why i wasnt i contacted????. I asked him to arrange getting the table and chairs out my house - they conveniently cant do that. Im still missing two chairs that we have paid for extra. I'm disgusted at the lack of communication between the store, delivery center, delivery staff and head office. Save your money and shop at Sofology i had not one problem. Believe these reviews - No one is interested in helping you when things go wrong after they have your sale. Badly managed and the lack of communication with customer is not exceptable.

Only giving 1 star as I had too. Had my whole house carpeted and after 3 weeks it had started flattening. I contacted scs as I had asked for a hard wearing carpet!! They aren't interested and after lots of phone calls and emails looks like I'm going to have to take this further with trading standards and the ombudsman. Shocking customer services.

Bought a three piece and carpet got good price and the sale lad was good although I was charged for a door strip which was not fitted as it did not come with the carpet fitter i rang and spoke to them twice only to be told it was not on my bill or my reciept which it clearly is on my reciept but got no joy and not offerd my money back my settee came today very happy with my choice and the delivery lads were great but i wont use a company again after they clearly ripped me off
SCS not interested when things go wrong
I bought a stair carpet including fitting which started to come loose after a month on the top part of the stairs which by their own admission was poorly fitted. They did a refit but only the area that was loose and not the whole carpet and now within a year the bottom section has become loose. After 3 months of ringing their customer services and numerous promises from them to send a fitting team out, it still hasn't been put right, even after pointing out the safety risks of traversing up and down a loose stair carpet. By from them if you must but don't expect a resolution if you find your purchase isn't up to standard. No wonder they don't subscribe to the furniture ombudsman service unlike DFS and Sofology I might add.
Unexpected final price
I love the sofas and the style.
However, I am not happy with the price and service. The quote didn't match the original quote which was given on my first visit. I did question this on my second visit and went along with the price. A week later I am still unsure if I have been given the prices correctly.
1st visit my budget was £3000 Imran sales assistant said u will get everything u have chosen for at that price leave a desposit today to seal the deal.
2nd visit the prices were different as we were served by Zaff a total of 1000 over budget.
I felt like I was been stereotyped by being a Pakistani family, being spoken to about Pakistan and the life style.
I just wanted to get my quotes right.
I felt like it was a diversion strategy.
I kept having to go back to the sofas, as I was short for time, I didn't want to engage with the salesmans parents family stories of their retired life's in Pakistan.
Neither the less I am happy because I love my sofas and cannot wait for them to arrive.
Warranty worthless
We bought a leather sofa and paid for a five year warranty .I noticed that the webbing had snapped due to rubbing directly against a metal bar . It took almost 2 months for someone to come out to have a look .
In my opinion the quy wasn't interested in helping he was looking for any excuse not to do any work took loads of photos and said someone would call in 10days to 2 weeks. They didn't so I rang only to be told that the claim was rejected on wear and tear not covered on the warranty .
Buy a sofa at SCS if you must but don't waste your money on a warranty
BAD SERVICE SCS
My partner and I Went to the SCS store, (Gallagher retail park), in November 2017. We chose a sofa that we liked which was a three seater and a small twister chair. we explained to the man (The Manager), who sold us these sofa's, that we have a small living room and small entrance to get the sofa in. He insisted that the sofa will be able to fit, so we placed the order. On the 11th of January 2018 the sofa came. On the disappointing attempt of trying to get our sofa in the house and through the door, to our surprise the sofa couldn't fit. We got told to go back to the store to ask for advise/help. They was not very helpful, and told us that the best they can do for us is to re deliver the sofa in 4 days. On the second arrival they tried again, to are surprise it still could not fit through the door, even though the manager of the store insisted that it would. As they were trying to fit our sofa into the house, all the wrapping around the sofa was coming off and there were scuff marks and scratch marks all over our brand new sofa, as you could probably tell we was not very happy at this point. So the second visit to the shop, we explained to them how there was scuff marks on the sofa and how it was not fitting through our door way. They then told us that they can dismantle the sofa and re deliver at a cost of £200!. I told them that your store manager told us that it would fit through our door, so why should we have to pay £200 for this service?! They then started to say their manager would not say that to us and that we we're lying. I then told them we are not paying for this service as it was guaranteed by your store manager it would fit. They told us that we would have to pay for the sofa even though we have not received our sofa. They was not helpful, they were rude, bullies, and took advantage of young couples. They are fast enough taking your money but not fast enough to help. I would avoid SCS at all cost!

Initially I chose scs as they promised carpet could be fitted before December.
They Insisted on sending surveyor round to measure to avoid mistakes (ha!) which delayed things once I phoned to arrange date it was way into December, confirmed would need to cancel then miraculously a date for November was found.
2 days before appointment telephone call advising carpet had yet to be manufactured so fitting 2 days later, reluctantly agreed. Next day another call another fitting date!
Whilst I was out on "original" fitting day call received from fitter advising he would be with me in 15 mins. Confirmed conversation that carpet not manufacturered yet! He laughed and said been on his van 2 days.
We then had to rush uplifting carpet!
Fitted stairs no problem but landing carpet was too short.... (despite surveyor measuring)carpet fitter showed plans it had been measured correctly but figure added onto cutting plan was incorrect
Telephoned and emailed store 8 times a manager never called. Finally they promised it had been reordered.
Surveyor revisited, walking up New carpet in shoes!!!
Cutting long story short area manager arranged on rush for reorder and carpet refit.
On the day of fitting carpet uplifted by mid afternoon no fitter telephoned store rudely advised fitter would call an hour before etc etc
I asked if they could just call him for me,
More lies followed, stuck on difficult job, would still be today.
Finally turned out fitter still at home as snowed in!!!
Left with exposed gripper rods on landing with 2young children and told would be after Christmas for fitting!!
Requested full refund but to get this fitter would have to uplift Stair carpet and was not available until after Christmas!! We could not uplift ourselves.
Finally resolved unsatisfactorily by carpet being delivered to us and we fitted ourselves!!!
Refund agreed for fitting went into store would only refund onto card although we had paid fitting in cash (money laundering)
Manager FINALLY spoke to me I confirmed that I would be taking this up with head office he laughed and said "head office would forward email to me to compensate and I will not give you any more"

Store was incompetent - had no clue what was going on with the carpet fitters schedule for that day - kept reitrating that he was self employed and because it was a busy time of year i would have to bear with them. Didn't make any attempt to keep me informed of what was going on - communication is the key to keeping your customers happy!!! Obviously not for SCS!!!
Store didn't call me back. Wouldn't answer the phone when i tried contacting them.
Had to give the store a deadline for the manager to call me. He was next to useless and just kept reiterating everything i had been told previously.
Ultimately i had to loose my temper and threaten to call their head office to get any information out of the manager.
The fitter was arrogant and very blunt. Did not want to listen to anything i had to say. Which meant the carpet wasn't fitted satisfactorily. After he left we noticed he hadn't fitted the carpet right up to the tread plate. He had scratches the fireplace, that had only be replastrrrd a month ago.
When i called SCS the manager didn't want to know (what a suprise). He said i would have to contact the fitter - BECAUSE HE WAS SELF EMPLOYED. The manager wasn't interested in anything i had to say. His attitude was well the carpets fitted now too bad.
I contacted the fitter and spoke to him he was very off hand even inferring the damage was already there. We arranged for him to come and see the damage on the monday evening but he never turned up. WHAT A SUPRISE.
In the meantime my daughter, who was visiting , noticed the window catch, which the fitter had obviously opened to get the carpet into the room, was unlocked. My property hadn't been secure for 2 and a half days.
I have left three voicemails on SCS complaint line and SUPRISE, SUPRISE, they have never got back to me!!!!
In my view SCS don't give a damn about their customers once they have paid. The store staff are incompetent, the carpet manager is rude and the store manager just doesn't care. The carpet fitter is a law unto himself doing just as he pleases and taking no responsibility.
SCS head office is probably the worst offender in all of this. They haven't even got the decency to contact customers, that have spent hard earned money with them, when they have a justified complaint.
The only way you get to complain is through trust pilot, absolutely ludicrous. Whoever isn't managing customer service/complaints at SCS should be ashamed.
I would NEVER use SCS again, even if there wasn't another carpet/furniture store to use.
