Purchase two Seagate External hard drive(1TB/2TB). Only used for back up and save on a case on my safe, both do NOT work now in one year. I just want to add a review to tell of my frustrating experience with Seagate support. As it took 30 minutes of my time to get nowhere i can spend another 5 to write this review for them.
A Lacie Rugged mobile product of a client failed, well within warranty. Date of manufacture on drive label is april22, 2 years of warranty and recovery services should apply on those drives.
Just wanted to phone the lab in the Netherlands to get this job underway. Unfortunately there is no phone number anymore, or not one working. On the lacie website there are multiple numbers that are dead.
You get funneled into a chat feature with mega slow response times and generic questions/answers. It seems AI, but eventually it started talking a bit more like a human so not sure.
It tells me first, warranty expired in august 22.. at about the time the drive was purchased.
Also no recovery services coverage. Even if they cant weazel themselves from under the obvious warranty claim. "Certain lacie products will not have them" But on the lacie site the product is shown as covered by the service, but i guess that website has a lot of useless information anyway.
With bonus quote "if the drive is opened that might affect warranty claims"

Chat, probably in a overcrowded callcenter in India is just a terrible way to service clients.
As a data recovery professional i was allready not a big fan of (working on) their products, and i would like to warn people of this terrible way to treat customers.

I have been purchasing all my drives from Seagate for more than two decades. I recently purchased an Exox 20 TB drive that has a 5-year warranty and three-year rescue included. After registering the drive with Seagate, it showed that it only had 3 years and 9 months left. I was told that even though we are in December 2023, the drive warranty started in September 2022. I called five other times, and Seagate refused to update the warranty. Seagate kept referring me back to their chat support, which, by the way, has a message displaying, "Our support sites are experiencing severe weather, creating delays in our response time. We ask for your patience. Their chat has been offline for more than a week. I tried to explain this over the five phone calls I made to every representative I spoke with, and they just kept repeating, "Please go to our chat line." Seagate, what part of your online chat is not working do you not understand?
Do not purchase drives from Seagate; they will rip you off on the warranty. For that, you might as well purchase from Western Digital, which is exactly what I am going to do after I get my money back on this drive. Seagate You are committing fraud and ripping off consumers, most of whom are not aware of this fact, and if they ever need a drive replacement or rescue service, they will not get it as you refuse to update the warranty on your end. You are doing this intentionally; it is fraud and wrong.
Used in my desktop
I have a 4TB seagate Baracudda in my desktop machine that I built in 2020 and it has performed flawlessly.
I have just added an 8Tb version of the same thing, and had no problem integrating that in.
My only complaint is that they should supply the mounting screws with the part - 6-32 screws are almost unobtainable in the UK. 4 short and 4 long in each kit would not cost them much.

Hard Drive failed in November 2023. Checked Serial on Seagate- Warranty is invalid as it expired in October 2021. How can a company advertise a two year warranty before you buy it, then you buy it, register it and find out the warranty based on the serial number is invalid and expired before you buy? How can that be legal?

Disgusting company my hard rive stopped…
Disgusting company my hard rive stopped working and they said I can get a replacement as still within the warranty period. Advised me to send my back which I paid for and they will deliver a refurb one free of charge. They tried to deliver today and wanted to charge me £40 plus shipping charges! Absolute disgrace, I paid £300 for this harddrive and is still within warranty. Will never buy from them again and advised everyone else of this. They could easily wave the fee.

TERRIBLE. Will never buy drives from them again. Takes hours, days, weeks to get through to them. Takes literally 3 months to get a replacement drive and you have to chat (no other option now, and their chat is slow / terrible) several times for what feels like hours to constantly follow up to find out wth is going on. Also, out of 9 drives ordered, 3 failed at the 2.5 of 5 year mark. Garbage all around. Their "support" will be the end of them.

Bought a 2tb Seagate external drive. Filled it up with photos. It fell not two feet from a sofa, and failed. A data recovery firm want to charge us £700 to recover 30% of the data. Faulty hard drive after a few months...the process to return is so bad its comical. They have almost made it so complicated on purpose so they don't need to send you a new one. They even gave me the wrong return label probably in hope for it to get lost.
Avoid at all cost...rubbish hard drive and rubbish customer service.
BEWARE - NOT COMPATIBLE WITH XBOX SERIES X/S Games!
I recently purchased a product "Seagate Game Drive for Xbox 2TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD" that I believed was compatible (could play) with the Xbox Series X, only to discover it wasn't (can only store and transfer but CANNOT PLAY! I felt quite misled by the product description which states "Compatible with the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and any generation of Xbox One" and the information I received from a previous customer service agent.
I was initially advised to return the product and pay additional fees for a replacement, only to later find out that this issue was affecting numerous customers. It's clear that there are a few key areas where improvements are needed:
Misleading Product Description: The product description gave the impression that it was playable with the Xbox Series X games, which is not the case. It's essential for product listings to be accurate to avoid such confusion.
Customer Service Experience: I believe the service agent I spoke with could have been more transparent about the widespread issue and spared me from unnecessary fees.
Reimbursement Request: I kindly request a reimbursement of the fees I paid for the replacement, considering the product description was misleading.
Concerns About Returning the Product: Returning the product now would cost me additional money. To rectify this, I would appreciate the cancellation of the return requirement and a refund of the associated fees.
In light of this experience, I am committed to sharing my thoughts on various platforms, including the Better Business Bureau, Amazon Reviews, Trust Pilot, and Google Reviews, if these concerns are not addressed promptly.

Absolutely terrible! Feels like a SCAM! My lacie hardrive crashed after 2 months of having it. They sent me back my recovered data on a hardrive that worked for only windows when I specifically said I use Mac. They keep promising me a replacement but I haven’t had anything at all. My case was opened in July, absolute joke and will never ever buy products owned by this company again!!!

Their 1TB external hard drive failed to copy a file across to my computer, that I had added from another computer - so not fit for purpose. There is NO telephone number for support and the chat online are not tech experts! They emailed their Recovery Program suite and it crashed not once, but twice and thereafter the chat wasn't interested - suggested I send it to their lab in the NETHERLANDS or go to a third party to rectify THEIR faulty product!!!!!!
