Amazing experience
We was there due to winning a competition with tickets food and drink. We should have had a photo opportunity but didn't get it. But we still had amazing time. Actors /actresses was amazing . Food and drink was lovely too. We enjoyed big wheel . We did miss the gym bit cause we didn't know anything was going on there. The only downside was the weather . We did think it would be cancelled but it didn't. And we couldn't arrange another date . All actors wore ponchos so we didn't have a good look at outfits. So some of the show they didn't do. But we still made the most of it . And would go back again.if we had good day with weather.

Great event. 50% off voucher came too late.
Loved the event. Booked straight away as soon as we got home for the follow fortnight. Unfortunately a few hours later received a 50% off voucher to book again. Seems there’s no way to contact the company. Would like to speak to someone on the team about the 50% off.

What an amazing night!
What a night! An absolutely brilliant evening, felt like being in the film. The theming was excellent, it was so well organised. The cast were fantastic and I loved every minute if it. I’ll never forget being on the ferris wheel, singing my favourite grease song. I’d highly recommend it

Absolutely brilliant
Absolutely brilliant, 100% would recommend if you’re a Grease fan!

More than just an outdoor cinema… much more!
From the moment you step into the Grease (or whichever film they are doing) world, you become a member of that world (in this case Rydell High). The actors and crew do everything they can to ensure you have the best experience possible and work really hard to do so! Getting involved means you end up chatting to the characters, dancing with them, helping them or just being witness to the awesome live performances. What a great way to spend a ‘summer night!’

Absolute blast!
Incredibly talented performers. At times it really felt like you were in the movie. Had a ton of fun!

Absolutely fantastic show - don't miss!
Absolutely fantastic show. Exceeded expectations!! I felt I was in Rydell High as the setting and dancers made it so real. The attention to detail was excellent and the actors were cast, so like the actors in the film. Despite the rain (of which we were warned and reminded that it was an outside event with instructions to bring appropriate clothing) we sang, danced, jived and laughed all evening. If I could I would go again. Shame it is not moving around the country so other people can experience it. If you are going, definitely dress up - people had made great efforts from the leathers, rock and roll, car mechanics, nightdresses (sleepover at Frenchy's house), beauty school dropouts etc. which fitted in so well with the setting. Well done Secret Cinema!

The end of Secret Cinema
Secret Cinema has become tragically over-commercialised to the point that the cost of tickets now outweighs the effort/investment they are putting in. When Secret Cinema launched (and for many years afterwards) they were truly innovative and it felt like they put their hearts and souls into each production. The prices crept up as time went by – fine, as some of their shows were still good. More and more people discovered their work, and soon similar immersive experiences were everywhere.
Grease, sadly, marks the end of Secret Cinema as we’ve known it. It’s clearly a desperate cash grab, made out of desperation or greed.
I’m generally a fan of Secret Cinema, and I even bought shares (albeit fairly worthless ones in the real world) in their crowdfunding efforts a couple of years ago. So where other reviewers have said that the negative reviews are from people who 'don't get it', I take offence.
Like always, I bought my tickets for Grease early (not cheap), factoring the cost of travel and hotels, but was shortly after sent numerous ‘special offer’ emails from various ticket agents, newspapers etc offering tickets for as low as £10 (some friends even got offered free tickets several times). I’m not exactly loaded, but I’ve supported this company over the years and decided to put aside my feelings of being ripped off by this, and try to make the most of it. A friend of mine who's an even bigger fan bought a premium ticket and was supposed to get a free souvenir gift which never materialised. She feels like a fool for paying so much. Lesson - don't try and be a good supporter or think you'll get the best deal by buying your tickets early.
The event was really not much more than a pop-up film in a car park. The cast made a valiant effort but they were thin on the ground and were barely distinguishable from the audience members at times. There were very few interactions with the public and the actors all seemed to vanish about an hour into the event. Food and drink was on sale everywhere at festival prices, and anything extra – like the fairground rides, games etc - was all priced separately, the first time I had seen this at a Secret Cinema event. The audience is now allowed to use their phones, which is really sad. Any sense of escapism is gone, there is just a sea of phones filming every little thing that happens. A cursory look at social media will show you everything you need to know about this event because, a week in, it’s been so thoroughly documented. Just search for it on TikTok and you basically get the idea in 30 seconds. That’s literally all of it. The company even released a detailed site plan a month before it started. What exactly is ‘secret’ about this event any more?
At their original classic events like Back to the Future and Star Wars, the sets were richly detailed and you could explore many different rooms, buildings and spaces. Actors would give you tasks, and vehicles would even move around the space. It felt like a real world had been created, or like you'd wandered on to a film set. Here, despite tickets costing substantially more, the screen was placed atop ‘Rydell High’ which was basically a flat wooden structure with blocked up windows and a cheap sign nailed on, all in the glamorous surroundings of the NEC car park. The ‘auto shop’ had a few tools knocking about but was basically just an overblown bar full of queueing people. A bit of plastic grass had been put down to sit on, but within 15 minutes every decent square inch of it had been covered up with people's picnic blankets. The ‘school hall’ was like a wedding marquee which was overcrowded, humid and impossible to see anything happening because it was so packed. Other than the ‘fairground’ (two riders, £8 a go) that was about all there was to do.
I also know for a fact that Secret Cinema have been encouraging members of their Facebook fan groups to leave positive reviews on this site and others so they clearly know something is up. Either they desperately need our money (despite a massive grant from the government during Covid, despite having no physical building to maintain, but that’s another story) or they know fine well this is a rip off.
I am not writing this to be rude, I am just sad. I hope they take these comments on board, but I suspect they won't.
I won’t be back.
This was sensational
This was sensational. Grease. The actors were incredible. It was like being in the film: actors sitting down talking to you as though you went to Rydell high. Perfectly executed, and the weather held off - can’t wait to see what the next secret cinema brings. I saw reviews before about cost of food/drinks but these are no more expensive than going to a gig. Brilliant value for money, and the best fun ever

Immersed in water, heavily diluted Secret Cinema Experience
The good
Grease actors were brilliant and did a great job with interaction. The hall was a fun experience.
The bad
Massive queues to get in meant we missed most of the interactions and queued for food vans.
Phones not put in pouches.
No secret location.
Smaller venue/car park
No wet weather provision we had ponchos and still got soaked.
Felt like an overpriced outdoor cinema/funfair car park event
Mirror scenes were like a school play. No driving vehicles. No wow factor/suprises. Toilet/Urinal screening see through. No handwashing facilities. Ran out of milk for milkshakes having queued for half an hour! Summary: I am torn to write a negative review having loved previous SC immersion in Casino Royale,Stranger Things and Dirty Dancing worlds, I had great expectations. I booked the opening night and had tickets to the pre show. We left mid film as it was cold and wet and there was no shelter and a long walk back. I didn't bother using my actual tickets as we were so disappointed and the weather was so bad I couldn't give them away. SC sold out to TT and it went mainstream RIP.

Team Cha Cha!
I was a little concerned that this would be a watered down Secret Cinema as it was a short notice replacement but my concerns were unfounded.
The cast and crew have delivered a fantastic fun show!
The dancing and singing is excellent and, obviously you already know the words.
A standout performance by Cha Cha who is much better than her film character, do not miss her!

For over 10 years now - loyal fan
For over 10 years now, I have attended many events held by Secret Cinema and for most of those events, I have visited multiple times. Secret Cinema is a company to take your imagination and expand it in more ways you can comprehend, to immerse you within your favourite films or TV shows. I visited their adaptation of Hawkins for Secret Cinema does Stranger Things 9 times just to be a part of that world set back in 1984 it was a dream come true to relive an 80s kid. That as Back to the Future, Dirty Dancing (both productions), The Handmaiden, Romeo and Juliet, and now Grease, keep me going back again and again. It is truly a great way to lose yourself in a world you love for a few hours and their cast and crew really work hard to make you be inside the magic. As for their current production Grease, I say: Rydell High reimagined by Secret Cinema is the perfect escape and so brilliantly done! Love you Secret Cinema! See you again very soon xx

Grease is the word, and it's sensational!
As a veteran of four previous Secret Cinema worlds, I thought I knew what to expect, but this was a whole new level of immersive theatre.
From the moment I arrived, I was whisked back to 1959, stepping into the shoes of my character, Rusty Dumbrowski. The attention to detail was astounding, from the fairground rides to the food stalls, and the imposing facade of Rydell High School.
The cast and crew were exceptional, bringing the world of Grease to life with an energy and passion that was infectious. I got to live out my 50s teenager dreams, singing along to the iconic songs, dancing with the characters, and even getting a tour of the "real Rydell" from Rizzo herself!
The dance competition was a sight to behold, a perfect re-enactment of one of the film's most iconic scenes. And just when I thought the fun was over, we settled down to watch the movie, with the actors simultaneously performing the most iconic scenes on stage.
Secret Cinema's Grease: The Live Experience is a triumph, another home run for the best immersive theatre company around. Whether you're a die-hard Grease fan or just looking for a unique night out, this is an event not to be missed. It's more than just cinema; it's a memory in the making.
I will miss my time at Rydell, but the memories will stay with me forever. If you haven't been yet, put on your dancing shoes and make the trip to Birmingham - it's worth every mile.
Secret Cinema, you've done it again. Grease was the word, and you were the stage. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

This was the 9th Secret Cinema world…
This was the 9th Secret Cinema world that I've been lucky enough to explore. My only wish is that I'd found Secret Cinema before Back to the future so I could have explored many more worlds!
I made the travel from London to Birmingham and I'm so glad that I did! Grease was on the smaller scale compared to previous worlds-but I feel like this worked world. Usually I wonder what I'm missing; because it was smaller I was able spot characters easily and run from action to action.
Grease was my favourite childhood film, sitting on the picnic benches with the pink ladies whilst they were singing Summer Nights will be a memory I have forever 🩷
My only gripe was being allowed to have our phones. Whilst I did appreciate being able to take photos, I love that usually at SC our phones are locked away and I lose myself entirely for the duration, having my phone was distracting and other visitors didn't respect the phone rules and were constantly filming which was a shame.

Secret Cinema Grease
Brilliant night at Secret Cinema Grease. Musical formats make for brilliant Secret Cinema events because the actors break into song and dance around you at the event. We were wowed by how much Sandy looked and sounded like ONJ and Cha-Cha was the most fabulous dancer. All the other cast were brilliant too.

I love Secret Cinema
I love Secret Cinema. Any negative reviews I've seen have mostly from people who just dont 'get' it. SC is a prime example of getting out what you put in. Don't go there and just expect to be entertained...you have to play the game if you want to be wowed!
I attended the Grease Live Experience at NEC Birmingham at the weekend...twice!
What a show! On the Saturday it was great weather, the energy was high, and everyone was laughing, dancing and singing. Sunday was a lot harder work for the cast and crew because they had to contend with the rain, however, the energy was consistently high, the smiles, dancing and laughter were still as strong, and the crew were absolutely fantastic making sure everyone was safe and enjoying themselves.
I had great 1-2-1 interactions with a few cast members (looking at you Kenickie 😘) and enjoyed being in the action and exploring the secrets! I didn't get a chance to go on the rides, because there was too much action to get involved with. But that sorta stuff is secondary to the immersion anyway. 🥰 Thanks for the absolute blast!

Fantastic Grease experience!
My son Rory and I travelled over from Northern Ireland for the Grease experience on Sunday 30th July 23. What an experience!! We enjoyed every second of it and the crew, cast and security staff made Rory's experience magical. Rory has Downs Syndrome and is a massive Grease fan . He was made so welcome and everyone interacted with him in such an unbelievable way. The experience was so professional and I've never seen such a wide age range of people together reliving their Grease days . Well done Secretcinema Grease experience. Full marks for everything from us.
