Charged twice for same car hire, no matter how you look at it!

I booked a car through booking.com under my booking.com name (as in this account). Unfortunately, my Christian name (on my passport and driving licence) isn't the same as the one on my credit card. I know, all very confusing and my own fault but I've managed fine. Until now! As the name didn't match they wouldn't give me the car. Fortunately my wife was with me and booked THE SAME CAR FOR THE SAME 3 DAYS. Budget said that as my booking was through booking.com they could not edit it. Booking.com says they cannot refund me because they have paid Budget. I find it hard to believe either one and we have now paid Booking.com €628.68 and have to pay Budget a similar amount! I must have been lucky with my previous approx 15 car hires before this as it has never happened before. I also expected more from a booking com. Nice car but paying twice for the same car, not nice at all
