I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent experience at your Canterbury branch following a scheduled repair arranged through Likewise.
Upon attending my appointment, the first member of staff who assessed my phone informed me that the issue was a bent charging port cable and quoted a repair cost of £120. I explained that my repair had been booked via Likewise, at which point I was told that your store does not work with such arrangements. After I produced the confirmation email, the device was then booked in and recorded as having a charging port cable fault.
However, I received a call approximately 15 minutes later informing me that the issue had actually been resolved through a simple clean of the charging port. I was then told that this would not be covered under the Likewise policy and that I would need to pay £80 for the repair.
This situation is extremely concerning for several reasons:
- I was initially misdiagnosed with a £120 fault (bent charging port cable), which was later contradicted within minutes.
- The final “repair” was a basic clean, yet I was still quoted £80, which seems wholly disproportionate.
- I was effectively being asked to pay £80 on top of the £75 excess through Likewise for what turned out to be a minor issue.
- There appeared to be confusion or inconsistency regarding whether your branch accepts Likewise repairs.
Only after I raised a complaint at the time was the £80 fee waived, which I appreciate. However, this does not address the wider issue of inaccurate diagnosis, inconsistent information, and the initial attempt to charge for what was ultimately a simple fix.
I would like a formal explanation as to:
1. Why the device was initially misdiagnosed.
2. Why a basic cleaning was priced at £80 and not covered.
3. Why there was confusion regarding Likewise repair agreements.
I believe this experience falls well below expected standards of service and raises concerns about transparency and fairness in your repair process.

Massive shoutout to Lewis and James at the Apple Store (Select) in Derby—someone give these two a pay rise!
After a pretty poor experience elsewhere (O2) they completely restored my faith in customer service. Both were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful. They took their time, explained everything clearly, and made sure every single issue was sorted before we left.
Despite the store being busy, we never felt rushed or like we were just another customer to get through. They were friendly, professional, and actually seemed to care about getting things right.
Honestly, if every store had a Lewis and James, life would be a lot easier. Outstanding service 👏
