I was scammed into signing up with this company. I was only changing my broadband to talk talk and the man on the phone signed me up for this ‘free’ when my first payment came out I contacted service box and was told ‘well you read the email stating there is money you need to pay’ told me i cannot cancel and I’m stuck for a year paying this monthly bill. I’ve contacted my bank to set up an indemnity claim and hopefully I can cancel. I’m a single mother with 3 young children, I cannot afford this

Nonsense from Kitchen Appliance…
Usual nonsense from Kitchen Appliance Insurance scammers, Cold called telling me my Insurance is do for renewal. I knew straight away that it was a scam as it was a Belfast Number from a Company from Hove in East Sussex. This shower used to trade under another Company name from the same address which was equally dodgy. Previously reported to Trustpilot and was even the subject of a BBC Program about scammers.
This is a despicable company
This is a despicable company. My 81 year old father was cold called and unwittingly ended up with a rolling 12 monthly verbal contract for boiler cover.
When I phoned to cancel for him I was told by an awful woman on the phone that unless I had power of attorney I could not cancel, I told her that he was with me and I was going to pass the phone to him so as to give his authorisation for me to deal with it. She just ignored this and demanded that I send the certificate of power of attorney through to her. I told her in no uncertain terms that this was a load of rubbish! I then gave the phone to my father so that he could cancel it and the woman gave him a lecture on how he should have phoned himself because his daughter was trying to cancel it for him and he was supposed to do it himself. An absolutely deplorable business with no social skills..
I bought multiple appliciance cover…
I bought multiple appliciance cover from Service Box. When I took the contract the sales person confirmed that if we cant repair we will replace it and item will be fitted at no extra cost. My cooker hood is making noise. They called me and replace the product from AO.com. AO.com unable to fit and therefore they stated that they are happy to provide £65 for fitting. I enquire couple of Electrician and they are charging me between £130-£150. This company can pay me max £90. I have made a complaint a week ago and I was promised that within 48 hours I will get an outcome or someone will call me. It is now a week and I have NOT received any calls from anyone. I called yesterday and spoken to Lea and she was just saying that Martin can only pay £90. I challenge why I have not been called or email and she doesn't answer. I am really shocked about their services and breached their own contract under Consumer Protection Act. My recommendation is to buy plan with D&G. They are professional and they will wait for a right product to be deliver and installed NOT like Service Box. I got my product and it is in my kitchen however it is now a week and Service Box is not bother to contact me or emailing the outcome of my complain. Not only that I paid for other appliance and my other appliance they replace but they didn't consider the remaining term to cover new appliance. Staff working in Service Box are not professional and they don't know what to say or answer the customer. Only they repeat themselves
Don’t go with this companywas
Don’t go with this company, machine broke down and was offered a cheap machine, not what we had
Do not use
I would give them a minus number if I could. Damaged a perfectly good washing machine which was working before they came and now isn't. The customer service is appalling and they are sexist pigs. "Hormonal females" ranting again is how my complaint was described. Is this even legal.
Shocking service
Shocking service, 3 weeks without a washing machine….booked a repair on 6th October.
Hot point engineer came out on 10 th October. Engineer ordered part for 13th October and said they would return on 14th October and fix machine. 14th October didn’t arrive. Phoned service box they advised that now booked for 24th October and they had advised me of this - they had not contacted me. Service box rebooked this for 20th October wanted to make complaint was advised it was a hot point issue and to raise with them as they had no complaints section. again didn’t arrive on 20 th despite service box assurances!!!
Phoned to raise complaint advised that the resolution team would phone back within 48 hours - no call back.
24th 0ctober hot point repair engineer came out with the new part. Previous engineer on 10 th had ordered wrong part. Not that surprised as the hot point engineer on 10th didn’t seem to know what he was doing. As opposed to engineer who arrived on 24th knew by looking at washing machine previous engineer had ordered wrong part.
Service box have no regard for their customers and treat then with disrespect. I have paid for this service plan for 3years and this is the first time I’ve had to use them. During this time I have taken 3 days off work, been fobbed off and it also appears that there is an element of dishonesty and they fail to ensure that they comply with complaints policy of resolution call within 48 hours , which after my insistence is likely to be four days.
Do not use this service!!!!!
My elderly neighbour with alzheimers…
My elderly neighbour with alzheimers was cold called dispite being registered with the telephone prefernce service.
They signed her up for £18.99 a month for 3 years for her washing machine. It is really old and rarely used! she could buy a new one for that!
These companies are commiting an illegal act and praying on vunerable old people.
I’ve had EXACTLY THE SAME EXPERIENCE !
I’ve had EXACTLY THE SAME EXPERIENCE !. I didn’t sign up for this !. They took 18.99 last month. I cancelled the direct debit and was called this morning by service box saying I couldn’t as I was in a years contract. I told them I never signed up for this - they then told me they would drop it down to 8.99 - I told them I DIDNT WANT IT AND NEVER SIGNED UP FOR IT !. I’ve since spoken to my bank and they are sorting it out for me. What a joke company
From August 2019 until July 2020 I paid…
From August 2019 until July 2020 I paid £567.78.
Two occasions I used them to try to repair an item.
Several attempts contacting them,
Nothing!
I was told that I would receive an email,
After finally making contact through me contacting them.
Nothing!
They are not covered by FCA, fact.
Surprised ? No!
Financial Ombudsman can do nothing.
Basically they can and are knowingly taking peoples money and clearly not providing any service.
This I have found out after the fact
They've not even bothered to respond at any time.
Happy ? No!
just another life experience where a company can knowingly deceive the consumer whilst making free money under fraudulent circumstance.
No argument as they have and are doing this.
Well they put links on Facebook
Well they put links on Facebook. My mum was accused of clicking the link and putting her details in ( bulls). They told her that her warranty had ended ( no clarification standard or extended. They didn’t ask her If she had any extended warranties and pushed on with the sale.
Now the further misleading bit is they said to her to buy 1 year get 2 free. So £216 for 1 year and 2 free. So £648 seriously. So what they mean is paying for your 3 year cover over 1 year and you don’t pay for 2 years. Very very misleading.
It’s worse over on domestic and general it’s £13 per month compared to £18. Now still Same price on both. They kept trying to explain they did all right and how do I know. I said my mum and sister told me that’s good enough for me
Avoid at all costs
Tumble dryer repair
I have been a satisfied customer of Servicebox for some years and in the past had efficient service from their contracted out engineers.
My latest faulty appliances was a Hotpoint Condenser Tumble Dryer which is only a few years old. I contacted the company and they said they would arrange an engineer to call. A few days later a phone call was received from the engineer who asked me to photograph the fault code and send it to him on the phone. This I did and heard nothing for 10 days, a further call to Servicebox prompted a text from the engineer saying he was having problems identifying the part required, being a door lock switch, A further 14 days passed and I again phoned and asked for an update and received the same answer.
As I was in need of a tumble dryer I contacted another company who came out the following day and repaired the fault. I phoned Servicebox and the engineer and told them to cancel the repair call.
Don’t think I will be returning to Servicebox when my contract expires.
.
Avoid
The engineer they sent out used non genuine parts(we were told only genuine parts were used). Not able to fit the door seal correctly, Leak continues after 9 months. Poor customer service
Im not happy with Service box i called…
Im not happy with Service box i called them that my small freezer is not working and they said they will replace it.The next day found out that its actually working i dont know what had happened but they told me i cant cancel uts been ordered already.I called them after a month asking about my freezer and they were telling me its been delivered,i told them nothing has been delivered and they said they going to sort it out.Its been 2 months.Mind you they said i should pay insurance for the freezer coz its a new one and they are taking money from my account for 2 months now and i dont have the freezer. Not happy
Dreadful Customer Service.
For some years I’ve been paying for insurance on my Electrolux washer/dryer, which was subsequently written off. I allowed myself to be persuaded to accept a replacement Whirlpool which I was persuaded was an upgrade. When it was fitted it wasn’t compatible with the fascia panel which was already drilled to fit the Electrolux. Fitter said I should just send it back. Called Servicebox and they say it’s not their problem so I’m left with a door that doesn’t fit and a machine of a significantly worse quality which they insist is an upgrade and a company that isn’t interested. If only they’d just done a like for like replacement in the first place there wouldn’t have been a problem. Now I will need to sell the machine on ebay and replace it myself. Avoid this company.
Now here I go
Now here I go
March my Neff oven stopped working
A engineer came out
He said it can’t be fixed
We called service box
He said he will send a new replacement oven
Now here we go
Policy says. Like for like
No way
I have a Neff cooker
Cost about £700
A replacement cooker came
After me arguing a lot
And getting nowhere
It was a cooker without the same technology as my Neff
But cost half the price
It would not fit
Due to the Neff oven has a cut away top for pipes to run begins to connect to Neff hob
So the fitter left
Then Gary found
A cooker with a cut in top
£279 new
Came out
Would not fit
Why
Too big
So fitters left
This has been 6 months now
And I still have no oven
And waiting for a replacement
I was offered £200 instead of cooker
Obviously I said no
So my Neff cooker
Has now came down to a replacement
Not like for like one
And has not been sorted after 6 months
And I am still waiting
Make your own mind up
Like Dealing With A Dodgy 2nd Hand Car Dealer!
Service Box ‘cold called’ October 2017 when the manufacturers warranty ran out on 2 appliances I’d purchased for my daughter who had her own cover. Before I could end the call, I was asked if I had cover on my appliances. I said “No” and preferred to deal with problems on a piecemeal basis. I wasn’t interested in taking out cover with Service Box until I was told that if an appliance could not be repaired it would be replaced. Given my appliances were 4 years old I thought maybe taking out cover would be a sensible option.
I was offered 3 years cover for the price of 2 but would have to paid the full £492 in the 1st year.
I called Service Box out a couple of times to attend my washing machine and the work was satisfactory.
Service Box came out to address an issue with my Bosch Integral Oven. The engineer diagnosed a faulty circuit board and that he needed to cost the repair.
When he got back, I was informed it would not be possible to economically repair the oven and it would be replaced. Good news? No, this is when my problems started!
Gary from Service Box spoke to my wife and offered 3 Bosch replacements i.e.:
Model 1: Bosch’s entry model for free.
Model 2: Bosch’s middle model (requiring a £200 contribution from me).
Model 3: The Bosch equivalent of my oven (requiring a massive £400 contribution from me). Incidentally, the best Internet price at this time for this model was £500, so assuming Service Box can obtain significant discounts, it would have meant they would probably have made a profit replacing my oven!!!!!
I spoke to Gary querying the contribution and he referred me to the “Replacements” section of the contract that states Service Box would “replace your product with a new product of the same or similar make and technical specification”. I said models 1 and 2 above didn’t have the same technical specification, giving an example that my oven was self-cleaning and these wasn’t. Gary told me ‘self-cleaning’ was a ‘feature’ and not part of the technical specification however, given he had offered Model 3 as well, I can only assume Gary knew that only Model 3 was a close match to my current oven!
Gary passed me onto Colin Hill the Service Box Resolutions Manager, who said he would deal with this on my behalf but, after much chasing, the best he could do was to reduce my contribution for Model 2 from £200 to £100.
I contacted Bosch who confirmed ‘features’ like self-cleaning were included within their technical specifications and only Model 3 had a close technical specification to my original oven. I sent 4 Bosch Technical Specifications (for my existing oven and models 1-3 above) to Service Box but they refused to budge.
After a bout of email ping-pong and several conversations I sought legal advice and was told I had a strong case for Breach of Contract and/or Misrepresentation.
At this point I received a terse “final offer” of several other totally unacceptable replacements despite, as far as I was concerned, I was still trying to resolve this issue with Service Box.
I spoke to Gary again and asked if the £400 contribution on the Bosch equivalent of my oven could be reduced and he said “No” “because it required 2 men to come and fit it”. I pointed out that 2 men would have to replace all 3 models so that argument didn’t really stand up but it was like trying to get blood out of a stone.
I was prepared to take legal action against Service Box but unfortunately, at this stage my wife had been without an oven for several weeks and we decided to settle for the inferior model 2 and us making £100 contribution.
I believe in these instances Service Box have a set routine (like insurers “loss adjusters”) which is to offer an inferior model for free then better models requiring contributions from yourself. They then go through a “resolution” process with the objective of getting you to contribute towards an equivalent replacement.
I looked on Trust Pilot to see if I was the only person to have had problems with Service Box and I wasn’t. The only Trust Pilot positive feedback at that time (since removed) was from a Colin Hill, coincidentally the same name as the Service Box Resolutions Manager I dealt with!
So, in summary:
• On the plus side – Service Box’s repair service was good.
• When it comes to replacement they are the equivalent of dealing with a dodgy 2nd hand car dealer. If you have entry level appliances you will not have difficulties with Service Box but if you have anything else to obtain an equivalent replacement will necessitate a not insignificant contribution from you.
• Would I use Service Box again? Most definitely not! I believe if your appliances are “entry level” and you need a replacement then Service Box would probably be okay but if you have more expensive appliances steer well clear.
If I could give them 0 stars I would
If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I discovered I was paying cover twice for one of my white goods - Service Box obviously got my number from somewhere and made a sales call. Now that everything is stored digitally, it's much harder to keep up with everything, especially as I have ADHD - life's complicated enough. I phoned them to tell them I wanted to cancel the duplicate cover. They said no - but I can keep paying £8 per month and choose not to renew next August - in 10 months time! So Service Box is £80 better off and I'm £80 poorer. Whining on about terms & conditions & small print isn't good enough. These people are greedy sharks.
