Unhealed people leading support groups

In exchange for leading support groups, people get free months of using the website. Many of the people leading these groups are nice but they are often uneducated, knowitalls, or mentally unwell. It is cr.azy to think that someone needing support or help is now placed in the position of offering help instead of receiving it.

Site operates like high school too. If you genuinely have the ability to help people on their growth journey you won't be supported by site management. The site has "favorites." While on you.tube one day, I saw the favorites in a promo video for the site. New Favorites also tend to be pretty people and handsome men (regardless of whether they have healing skills or not). Old favorites are the ones that were on the site when it first started. Soon you learn to back out of groups after you have been re-traumatized by a toxic group leader. Soon you stop offering to lead groups because only the favorites are supported. For the price, this is a great resource. My best advice..leave the group if the group starts to upset you. For example: there was a lady that never contributed to any group she attended because of disassociation. Imagine my surprise when this same lady started leading popular groups. Be safe out there.

P.S. the pro sessions used to be free, now you only get 1 free per month

We’re sorry to hear that your time on ShareWell left you feeling frustrated and unsupported. Your feedback highlights real concerns, and we want to address them.

At ShareWell, we believe in the power of peer support—and we also recognize that peer-led spaces aren't a replacement for professional therapy. We do our best to prepare and vet our group leaders, and we’re always working to improve. Every host has access to free training and mentorship. If you’d like to reconnect as a group leader, please reach out to us at [support@sharewellnow.com] and we can match you with a host mentor and continue the conversation. We strive to foster a space that values all voices equally, and we regret that it didn’t feel that way to you.

As for our pricing and access to Pro sessions—we did recently adjust our model to keep the platform sustainable while still offering value. We understand this change may be frustrating, and we’re always reevaluating based on community needs.

Wishing you support wherever your healing journey takes you.

Horrific company

Horrific company. Paid for a subscription, didn’t like the sessions at all, and the company refused to refund my money. They then disabled my account so I couldn’t tell anyone what happened. The sessions are peer-lead so they are a shit show. My issues became worse from it.

We're truly sorry to hear about your experience. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive space for people to connect through peer-led support, but we recognize it's not the right fit for everyone, and your feedback helps us improve. We have recently added Pro groups led by professionals—if you return, we'd love for you to see if they are a better fit.

Regarding your refund and account concerns, we'd like the opportunity to look into what happened and make it right. Accounts are typically only disabled by request or in rare safety-related situations. Please contact us directly at [support@sharewellnow.com] so we can help.

Your well-being matters to us, and we hope we can resolve this in a way that feels fair and respectful to you.

As a sharewell user these are the…

As a sharewell user these are the things I found.
One many come her to find their next love interest. Just wait you will notice.
Two the groups are peer run by people who have never been to therapy much less school to know how to run a group.
Three you go to ten groups and each group you introduce yourself and that is it. There are many and by the time each person does this the session is over. Never getting help with ways to cope or change.
Four they now have a pro session that cost you more to use
Personally if you want true help you won’t get it here. If you want to just vent you won’t get it here. I have been on here for around five months and had one good session. I got resources and information to move forward with. I wouldn’t waste my money.
Sharewell you will rebuttal this but truth is truth you made that pro session and chanted more to use it

Thanks for sharing your honest experience— we’re sorry to hear ShareWell didn’t meet your needs. Our peer-led model is built on the idea that healing can happen through shared experience, not just clinical expertise. We know that this format works well for some and not for others. Your point about introductions taking up too much time is valid, and we’re actively exploring ways to make sessions more balanced and impactful.

We received feedback that some members were looking for more structured support, which is why we introduced Pro sessions led by professionals—these do come at an added cost to help us support the facilitators' time and expertise. That said, we still provide a range of free and peer-led options because accessibility matters deeply to us.

Thank you again for your feedback. We take it to heart.

Greif

Three years ago I lost my husband and was advised by a therapist that group therapy with peers may help me with my grief. I searched the web and found Sharewell. I joined on a trial run and have stayed because the peer session helped me not only with grief but the depression I am feeling. Each session I go to the host gives me time to express how I’m feeling at that time and there is feedback from like souls. If you need space to express freely this is the platform I recommend..

Just Another Social Media Hellscape!

The first honest thing you should know is that ShareWell gives members a free month for writing a 5-Star review! Consider that while you read the 5-Star reviews.

Here is my opinion, unbiased and honest experiences on ShareWell.

ShareWell is supposed to be a compliment to seeing a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, but it is not. Members brag about firing their Therapist in sessions. They also bash Licensed Therapists. This occurred in several groups that I attended, which I found disturbing.

ShareWell is not supposed to be a replacement for Therapy with a Licensed Therapist, but many members have chosen to do so and encourage others to do so.

I was verbally attacked by a member because I reminded her of her Mother, and I do not feel that ShareWell provided sufficient support for that incident. I was just told sorry and encouraged to learn to be more assertive while hosting.

Some members are rude, selfish, and inconsiderate and disregard the topic of the session and make it their own instead of respect the Host and other group members.

For example, an Art Group should be fun and stress relief. On several occasions, I witnessed a member in my own group and other hosts Art Groups enter the session and start crying and talking about her abusive husband or how her parents abused her as a child.

ShareWell only has one person in charge of all the volunteer hosts! They offer support sessions, but not enough of them! They should be offered at various times and days so that the hosts have more access and can ask more questions and receive more training and guidance.

I tried to email the person in charge of the hosts to ask questions and gain more support, but for months my emails went to her Spam box and were left unanswered.

After hosting a few sessions, I soon realized that I was in over my head and just how insufficient the host training was! There was nothing in the training course to prepare a host for when a member comes in and wants to ignore the topic and tone of the group and turn it into their own Trauma Dump Session or when a Member enters the group and is blasting loud club music and is behaving like they could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or starts discussing being suspended from work for sexual harassment of a co-worker.

I am angry and resent ShareWell for using and exploiting me! I feel that if ShareWell really does care about people as they claim that they should give, a low income person who lost a loved one should receive a free year of ShareWell Unlimited with proof of loss and low income. Even Walmart and Amazon offer discounted rates on memberships to people on public assistance!

Since the hosts are not Licensed Professionals are not paid, they could easily afford to gift a free annual unlimited membership to someone who is indigent and lose a loved one if they really cared about people and want to support people struggling with mental health challenges as they claim.

ShareWell takes advantage and exploits people like me who are living in poverty and lost their Mother for profits. I resent that in order to receive sufficient support that I must host in exchange for a free month.

ShareWell took advantage of my need for support during my grief, and I was pushed beyond my limits. As a result, I am burned out and depressed. I think it is rotten of ShareWell to exploit and use people who need support for mental health struggles and profit from struggling people hosting before they are ready to host just so that they can earn a free month and continue to receive support. This is just my opinion based on my experience.

I have come to believe that ShareWell is more toxic for me than supportive. Very few sessions were beneficial for me. Most sessions are members venting and crying, and I feel frustrated, re-traumatized, or triggered.

I have decided that I no longer want to place my Mental Health in the hands of volunteers who lack the training and support necessary or host sessions. ShareWell exploits people during the lowest point in their lives! ShareWell is no better than Social Media for support!

Thank you for sharing your experience. To clarify, we encourage honest reviews and don’t offer a free month for only 5-star reviews.

We’re sorry to hear that your time with ShareWell didn’t meet your expectations. As a peer support platform, you may encounter perspectives that are different from yours in support groups. While some members may prefer peer support over therapy, ShareWell values therapy and emphasizes its value in our community messaging and resources. We aim to provide a supportive space, while acknowledging that everyone’s healing journeys and needs vary greatly.

We appreciate your perspective on our host training and session dynamics. We offer hosts ways to use our service for free to make our services more accessible, not as a way to take advantage of anyone. We appreciate the feedback to offer more support sessions for hosts; we will do our best to expand those session offerings.

Thank you for spending time with us, and we wish you the best on your mental health journey.

Consider Other Options!

(Don’t let the 5-star reviews fool you. They give people a free month of unlimited membership in exchange.)
If you are looking for a site with plenty of peers who clearly have borderline personality disorder and Cluster B traits, this is for you! You will trigger all of them when you set boundaries, even as a host, and eventually get permanently banned for restricting members who have hurt you. Sharewell is an expensive site run by volunteer hosts who get paid zero dollars, to be treated with disrespect and be doubted by leadership when submitting valid concerns. Sharewell is the definition of an abusive site preying on abused and traumatized people and their money.

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify that while ShareWell encourages reviews, we encourage honest reviews and do not offer a free month in exchange for only 5-star reviews.

We’re sorry to hear the platform didn’t meet your expectations. At ShareWell, we are committed to maintaining a respectful and supportive community, and we take safety seriously. Members who violate our safety rules will be banned to protect the well-being of others.

As a peer support platform, ShareWell allows members to create and host their own support groups. This model focuses on connection and mutual understanding rather than relying on paid group leaders. While this approach may not suit everyone, it’s core to who we are.

We appreciate your perspective—it helps us learn and improve.

Lack of privacy

This company does not respect people to remain anonymous. They also don’t have licensed professionals running the group sessions. I am not impressed with the strict guidelines that you have to show your face. It makes for people with trauma like myself uncomfortable.

ShareWell is a place where you can truly belong!

Finding ShareWell a few months ago has been fantastic! As someone new to peer support groups, I’ve been embraced by a community that is genuinely supportive and understanding. Even when discussing tough topics, I’ve felt validated and connected, which has made a huge difference in my journey. The diversity of sessions is truly impressive and ShareWell seems to have something for everyone. I initially joined to attend a few sessions but quickly realized how much more this platform has to offer. The flexibility of being able to join sessions at any time, day or night, is invaluable to me. I love knowing that if a session I want isn't available, I can create one as a host and help build a community around it. ShareWell is more than just a platform—it's a place where you can truly belong and make a difference!

This app is AMAZING for finding connection with people. I've only attended one session but or was so nice to be heard and listen to others who experience similar issues as I. There are plenty of sessions covering different ideas including mental health, art, learning and 100's of sub topics in between. Excited to continue meeting new people.

Virtual Support: Morning to Night Everyday

Virtual support groups, 20 different group sessions or more per day, 7 days a week. This is why I joined Sharewell and would recommend it for anyone who is experiencing a mental health condition or maybe just wanting someone to listen to them and not feel alone. Having the opportunity to join a virtual support group of my choice from 10 am up to 12 am has added a new dimension of support to my life. The session hosts and attendants have been welcoming and warm. Now that I’ve been a member of Sharewell for about 1 month, I’m starting to see some of the same group leaders and group attendants in other sessions. Even though sessions are virtual, I am feeling a sense of belonging. Group leaders as well as attendants act in a professional manner. Check it out, at least take a look at all of the support groups which are offered.

Great support for self-expression

Thank you so much for creating the space for self-expression in community. In a recent art and mindfulness session, I really enjoyed people's shares of what they created and what it meant to them.

Sharewell is essential for disability peer support

I am fairly new to using Sharewell but my time thus far has been immensely edifying. More specifically, I have found the Sharewell peer share sessions very welcoming and informative. Before finding Sharewell, I sought a community to share my experiences of living with my disabilities. The platform has satisfied this need of mine and I look forward to using the platform going forward. On a technical note, the web platform of Sharewell is user-friendly and I find the front-end interface very lively. As a result, I want to commend the computer and technical programmers working to make Sharewell's website user interface exceptionally crafted.

ShareWell gives me more faith in humanity.

ShareWell is a great forum for connecting with people who have similar lived experiences to mine. Throughout my membership, I have had nothing but positive interactions with hosts, session attendees, and members of the Community team. I am consistently impressed by and grateful for the ShareWell community. It's really touching that so many people are coming together to support and hold space for one another with such open minds and hearts. In a world that so often bombards me with chaos and negativity, I am buoyed by the wisdom, generosity, respect, and vulnerability I've witnessed through ShareWell.
