I contacted Shield Locksmith last Sunday to open a door and specifically asked the operator about all charges before booking. She deliberately avoided giving me any price information, even after I asked clearly. The calls are recorded, so my claim can be verified.
When the locksmith arrived, I was suddenly told there was an extra £49 call-out fee plus VAT, which was never mentioned beforehand. I called the operator again, and she falsely claimed this was stated on their website – it is NOT.
I paid the invoice but immediately raised a complaint requesting a refund for the call-out fee and VAT. They never responded. The actual door-opening service was also far more expensive than other locksmiths, and I was not given any estimate upfront. If I had known the cost, I would have avoided this company.
Their website claims “within 30 minutes” service, but they took almost an hour, leaving my family and two small children outside in the cold. This is deliberate deception and cheating in terms of pricing and timing.
Avoid this company if you value honesty, transparency, and reliability.
