Thank you

A friend recommended Shield in Poole when the cold weather arrived and our car wouldn’t start. We managed to get the car to Shield and Jonathan diagnosed and replaced for a new battery at a very reasonable price.
The service from this company was brilliant and we would highly recommend.

Fantasic helpful service.

Fantasic helpful service.

Supplied the correct Yuasa battery for a vehicle where many internet sales sites listed incorrect types.

Local to me too. All sorted within a couple of hours at a great price.

Problem with review sites

Problem with review sites is the minority of customers that seem to make a living out of leaving bad reviews. Also seem to go out of their way to not look after products they buy through sheer lack of knowledge and or ridiculous attitude. Trust pilot should be aware of such customers and give companies the chance to have such reviewers removed.

Poor customer service

Poor customer service. Don’t use.
We operate commercial boats, bought several batteries from this company for our boats and then bought a battery for my Bentley turbo r. Batteries were all fitted with a short period of time, 2 boat batteries went flat within a month of fitting, we keep recharging the others, Bentley flat within two weeks, took it back, they blamed the car alternator, all they needed to do was change the battery, I’ll be telling several of my boat operators never to bye from this company.

Shield Batteries Avoid

First some history; 3 and a half years ago I bought a Duracell battery for my 4x4 from Shield batteries in Poole Dorset. Although I was obviously not in the trade (and was never asked) when I was quoted for the battery the price did not include VAT. Please note that even Halfords quote full price including VAT...These days. Anyway the invoice was also made out to the trade and I was not happy about it so let Shield Batteries Head office know my feelings on this... (They did not give a .....)
Move forward to 3 and a half years later, the Duracell Battery in my 4x4 fails,(It has a 4 year garantee) I phone up asking what the protocol was for this failure; next day took the said battery to Shield in Poole. First thing that I was told was they would have to keep and test the battery over night. I questioned this as Halfords, French Swedish & German AND Euro Car parts all have electronic equipment to test batteries then and there and will tell you straight away if it has a problem AND if there is a problem will replace, no quibbling as long as under guarantee!
I had taken the battery to one of the former mentioned companies where a mate of mine works, to testing as I do not trust Shield Batteries one inch!!!! He told me it had 12 volts but very low amps, was basically duff!
I said this to the Shield person dealing with the problem battery and all he said back to me was “You are the guy who complained about me to head office... Way to go Shield Batteries customer service.....
I am not shy and was more than happy to say Yep was me and the reasons why......looking him square in the eyes.
So although most battery sellers can test if a battery is faulty straight away Shield Batteries who are supposed to be Battery specialist either cannot or like to mess their customers about.
Shield Batteries in a reply to another chap who also was not happy with their service on this review forum said; “we are a reputable, fourth generation business that prides itself on its honest and trustworthy service. We have an excellent reputation”
I say; how are you going to spin this one???
I did contact Shield Head office again knowing full well they would do nothing but at least I proved myself right and now I look forward to what they have to say tomorrow so WHATCH THIS SPACE..... I WILL PUT THIS ON EVERY SOCIAL MEDIAL AND REVIEW SITE I CAN FIND

Brilliant 6/5

Wow. What service. Brought my Mazda Bongo for battery testing, (Moss industrial estate Lowton/Leigh) without booking it in, the guys quickly established that not only was it knackered but completely the wrong battery! After quick research found the correct battery, fitted it all within 25 mins. Well done gents, won't hesitate to point other people in your direction. Peter Travis

1st Class from start to finish

We needed assistance in supplying batteries for our Santa Sleigh around Bishops Stortford and Stansted. Shield were quick on the uptake, incredibly knowledgeable regarding our needs and made themselves readily available for any questions around installation and ongoing support being very approachable and friendly throughout. They are clearly community minded and I for one cannot recommend them enough.

Brilliant product

Brilliant product, fairly priced, and made very simple to order/collect, giving just a registration number, a member of the team done the rest for me. This isn’t my first experience and will not be my last!

Avoid this company like a plague

This company supposedly sell quality batteries with a years warranty well do not buy from this company their batteries do not last 4 months purchased 4 mobility scooter batteries 12volt X 22ah and after 4 months they stopped holding their charge the charger used was a standard 48 volt X1.8amp supplied by the scooter manufacturer they claimed batteries were under charged but according to several battery suppliers a 1.8 is sufficient power for a slow charge which is the design of them the batteries cost £160 so not ment to be cheap so avoid this company like the plague.in responds to shields answer firstly you say your battery supplier reported to you saying that the charger of 1.8amps is insufficient this is the opposite to what yuasa reported publically in a responds on Facebook and a separate communication to me .secondly the charger being used is one that was reccomended by the mobility scooter manufacturer of they have reconfirmed in writing to me you are obviously trying to renege on yours responsibility which even more shameful especially in the respect of the disabled people .

Reply from Shield Batteries

Dear Mr Bird,

We hope you received our last email on 11th November in regard to this issue, just in case you didn’t we provided an in-depth response from the Technical Manager at Yuasa Batteries, the manufacturer of the batteries in question. He explained fully that the choice of battery charger you have used is where the issue lies.

We offered to send the batteries to Yuasa for them to test for you & we said we would happily review and comment on the ‘second opinion’ 3rd party tests/reports that you mention you have from other manufacturers and provide comment, however you have not shared these with us.

The fault with your batteries is not down to manufacturing and material defects which is why this battery issue is not covered under warranty.

We note that you left a similar 1star negative review for another battery seller in June 2020, with the same issue with 4 batteries & within an even shorter timeframe after purchasing the batteries from them ‘at the start of Lockdown’, which would once again point to the fact that the charger you are using is not suitable for the batteries.

Just to finalise; we are a reputable, fourth generation business that prides itself on its honest and trustworthy service. We have an excellent reputation & have been keeping people moving since 1910.

If you would like us to re-send the email mentioned, please do let us know.

Kind Regards
Shield Batteries
