Deteriorated Product and Tax Fraud

Wow has this company changed! I've been buying their stuff literally for decades. It was always worth the extra money because of the quality. I overcame the costliness by waiting for the sales. I could get more of it locally too, usually for less than at online Red Onion Clothing, which used to be shopflax's name. But no more. 1st, the dye has become less stable. I had blouses, most of them black, which I hand wash, and they lasted years. Now, the dye fades so fast, I have mostly dark charcoal blouses. You can tell by the buttons. They at least still do those to match the new fabric. The fabric gets threadbare faster too, even though I always hand wash it. Their medium weight linen becomes handkerchief transparent after just a few washes. You do have to wash this before wearing it because there is a lot of lint that lifts off that first time you wear it. I used to always mix and match Flax with Eileen Fisher clothes. It worked great. But now Fisher is using too much clingy blends and synths and Flax's designs are getting farmy-er and farmy-er. OK but I live in NYC—I don't want to look like I was digging in the community garden just before I ran over to the museum reception.
The final straw was when I had yet another argument with them about state sales tax. They try to charge me tax when there should be no tax. Yes, I get upset about it. They know better. We are both in NY state so there is no excuse for this. It has been happening literally for decades. They charge tax on shipping, which is unsual but legal. It’s usually less than $1. But then they sneak more “tax” into the total. They try to ignore my calls and emails. I get angry because it is so wrong and unnecessary. They get an attitude. They finally take it off when I say I will report them to the state tax dept. Then it's ok for a few orders. Then it happens again. The last time I tried to buy something from the shopflax.com, they informed me that they will no longer sell to me because I was mean to them over the years. Done with them. Others sell this and don’t give you this illegal stupidity. But I will be looking for high quality fabric and workmanship at a more reasonable price, without the attitude and sneaky fraud.
