Awful company

Awful company, untrustworthy, poor customer service and outrageous terms of use. Be vary wary of contract details, price, quality before using, many better competitors out there.

Hidden 46% Fuel Surcharge Nearly Got Me!

This was my first time trying Shred-It and it will be the last. I completed the online quote request 2 weeks ago and when I didn't receive a response, I decided to call them. I received a call back a couple of hours later detailing the fees and services. Once I received the service agreement, I decided to ask what the total bill would be as it wasn't specified on the agreement. It wasn't until I pressed the agent over a couple of emails that the agent told me about a "fuel surcharge" of 46%. The only mention of this charge on the agreement is the statement "Fuel Surcharge Per Table Index" but no table index was included nor did the agent make any mention of this on the call. When I brought this up to the agent he was very dismissive and didn't seem bother that I brought this up.
If I hadn't questioned the agent, I would have had no idea of this extra $165 charge until the invoice was due and would have had no recourse as I would have signed the service agreement.
Needless to say I decided to go with another firm

Service is horrible

Service is horrible. I have been skipped for pickup 4 times, 3 times were in the past 3 days. Will not be using Shred IT for shredding service again. Shred IT doesn't have a reason, customer service rep hung up on me 3 times. Not happy at all with them.

Just a very bad company to deal with with

Just a very bad company to deal with. Said that they would call me with in the week. It has been more than 3 weeks and no call and all the while one would have accumulate the pile of documents that need to be shredded. No response even if you call multiple times. They lock in to a contract based on promises and you are hooked. Save your money. Stay far away. There are many companies with lower rates and better service.

Customer Service is a Joke

So, trying to call and set up either a one time or even get rates about a recurring service, got bounced around, from Steven to Steven and the levels of incompetent staff, with lack of ability to answer even simple questions and or give a straight answer was getting me nowhere, and all the focus was on what's the accounts phone number, when the account was yet to established and then got more blank responses from the staff. Got bounced around to the point I just hung up, waste of 30 minutes. Do not recommend this company for any reason.

So disappointed with their service our…

So disappointed with their service our company has an account with them and can't get a one time large pick up. We signed a quote 2 months ago and now they are telling me they can't pick up for another month. 3 months to pick up some boxes ridiculous. When you call you can't even speak with a manager. Don't use this company.

This has to be the worst corporation…

This has to be the worst corporation when it comes to cancelling services. We have made several attempts to cancel services with them and they continue to pull no shows and bill us regardless. We are going on almost five months of this frustration. Do not use.

THE WORST experience from beginning to…

THE WORST experience from beginning to end! The only competent person, was the driver who picked up the materials to shred. The service people on the phone NEVER followed through. One after the other. Either they are working at home or they hire people who have no experience. The scheduling was IMPOSSIBLE. Even when it came to my bill that wasn't what they initially sold me, no one called back as they had promised. How they are still in business is beyond me. I would sit and shred myself before I would ever have this company come to my facility. Save yourself total aggravation and use another company!!!!

If zero stars was an option

If zero stars was an option, then that would have been my choice! Absolutely useless! How are they even still in business? After twice trying to sign up for a pick up online, as per the site, there was no response. I called last week, and after about 15 minutes of being transferred back and forth, I was given a reference number, and told someone would call me back with a pickup date and time. Didn't hear from them. Called today, and was told that my request had not yet been processed. Finding another service that is more customer friendly! Ridiculous!

After initially being unhappy about the…

After initially being unhappy about the service provided in respect to not attending the correct site I took over from my colleague whom had spoke previously to a person with no successful outcome and spoke to a lovely lady in Customer services.
Jayne Partington was extremely helpful and thorough and resolved the issue we had been experiencing immediately and arranged and additional collection and took her time to follow up at her end as to why the confusion had occurred in the first instance, resolved it, and kept me updated during the call. Thank you Jayne, excellent customer service from your end.

Because no stars are NOT an option!!

Because no stars are NOT an option. I have six locations that are "supposed" to be serviced. Shred-it routinely doesn't show when supposed to. I have a service rep that doesn't have a phone number, how convenient! Tried calling the customer service number 51 minutes later I'm no closer to getting my 26 bins emptied. After typing this review I'm going to provide a written complaint and 30 notice of termination. This companies strategize is to purchase up all the local small shredding companies so we have no other options but to put up with their crappy service! Contemplating purchasing a burn pit, that would be less frustrating.

Have been a customer for 2 years

Have been a customer for 2 years. They are not timely on pick-ups and impossible to contact! When going to cancel, they said I was on a 5-year contract!! Who has a 5 year contract! I certainly was not made aware of this when I signed up. They stated I would have to pay $2000 to end the contract early! I've been a customer for 2 years! Ridiculous! Buyer Beware!

Shred-it. Avoid them!

Got a quote for one time on-site residential service. Sales rep sent me agreement and I signed and received an email to login to a customer portal to get details of the date and time. Could not login, they did not send me proper credentials. Emailed their customer service and got a reply with date, job number etc. Time frame was 8-5 on the day. I tried calling my salesperson to find out if they would come morning or afternoon because I could not stay home all day. The salesman would not return calls over a period of 3 days. Tried emailing customer service, no reply. Came the day of the service and they did not show up. I called and canceled. Two days later I get a call saying they are ready to come out. I asked where they were 2 days ago and she said her schedule showed today. I read her the info from my order confirmation. Then she said they tried to come by previously and even called me on the number I gave them. It was a lie. My call log did not have any calls from them. They failed at every level of service possible. I suggest avoiding them at all costs.

Because NO stars isn't an option

Because NO stars isn't an option, I begrudgingly give them 1 star. TERRIBLE billing practices, was told my credit card was NOT on file for automatic payments, only to find a $400 payment taken 2 weeks later. (OH, that was AFTER arguing with them because they billed us TWICE for services that were not rendered, and despite being assured those services would be removed and I would not be charged, they charged us the full amount anyway). Customer "service" is rude and unqualified to help you with your issues, the only way to get anything resolved is with a supervisor, and that involves hours on hold. Emails I receive from their sales force support team are evidently not available to customer service, because they never know what I'm talking about when I try to explain to them the emails I received from their company. My local rep in Lenexa, KS dumped us like a hot rock and refused to advocate for us, referring us only to the 800 number. These people are the WORST, take your business anywhere but here.

Bad customer service.

Bad customer service.
They don't have any customer service post-sales. they don't have any customer support email address available on their website. Their phoneline is always on waiting for hours .... bad service .... don't do business with them.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! How are they still in business?? I spoke with a sales rep on 8/18/21 and have yet to get a schedule for a one time shredding! I have emailed 5 times with no response after the 2nd email! I have called numerous times, get put on hold for long periods of time, then get hung up on! This company should go out of business!
