Helpful team and good price but I would like the unit to be inside the building
Everything was OK. The team was always ready to answer my questions through email or phone. The price was awesome, because I rent the unit with the promotion of 1 pound + taxes + insurance for a month. The only thing I didn't like much was that my unit was facing the street, explaining better, it was located before the security door, so it was in a space that stays open all day (I think the big garage gate stays closed at night). I wish it would have said to me before I book the unit to give me the opportunity to decide to book another one safer.
Great staff and reasonably priced
Disappointed
An absolute disaster! We arrived to drop off our things but the keypad didn’t work. We called customer service, but they just bounced us from one operator to another without helping! In the end, after more than an hour (I had rented a van to transport my stuff and had to pay an extra £50 because of the time wasted due to them), they managed to open only one door, but the lift wasn’t working and we had to use the stairs, going up and down several times to carry everything. It was physically exhausting! Money completely wasted.

Use of access in the application
It is very important you let users know exactly how the application works with accessing the storage using the lift. There is a gap and I had to call to be told that putting the phone close to the red box in the lift and pressing unlocks its usage. There should be a ‘how to use or what to do’ clearly showing the steps and link between phone and access box. You may also include more maneuverable trollers. Your storage is however well maintained, clean, safe and delivers as promised

The single trolley is often already in use. Moving lots of items/boxes without a trolley is super inconvenient (car -> lift; lift -> hallway (to release the lift for other users quicker); hallway -> unit).
It looks like there's also no non-emergency staircase when someone is busy with the lift on a different floor?

Online identity verification broken
Online identity verification broken. None of their staff seem to understand that having to turn up in person between 10am and 2:30pm is not easy for most people. As a result I was unable to move anything during the weekend I booked for, and will have to make multiple trips after work during the week.
Pretty terrible experience
Pretty terrible experience. One both occasions I went to the locker the lift didn't work, so I had to wait a long time while someone from a different branch came to fix it. The branch didn't have any members of staff, which is just a terrible idea when the lifts constantly break.
I was also due a refund but they didn't pay me. I had to chase them up to remind them I was due it, which leaves a sour taste.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are untrustworthy, sneaky and the customer service is the worst that I have ever experienced. Also, if you want to make a complaint about the management you will be advised to email that same manager. Pretty much sums them up. A lot of training required at every level as the service was poor at every interaction. They also think that having 1 roller door entry is acceptable meaning that cars/vans just block each other in so no-one can leave. The lift didn't work for months, Shurguard said it was for 2 days in a 7 month period which was just insulting. Poor, poor service. Go somewhere else.

HORRIFIC SERVICE!! DO NOT USE SHURGARD!!!
HORRIFIC SERVICE!!! DO NOT USE SHURGARD FACILITIES!!!!
When looking into storage units available in Kings Cross obviously Shurgard's "£1 for the first month” deal (WHICH ACTUALLY COSTS £15 AFTER ADMIN FEE ETC..) Seems like the obvious choice!! Well... that is because you get a facility, and customer service that is worth literally £0.01p because it is that BAD!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Here are the MANY reasons why you should NOT USE Shurgard (AKA SHITGARD!!!)....
- HARD TO FIND!!!!
Shurgard Kings Cross unit is not even sign posted from the street, it has another company’s green/yellow branding all over the building, bar one small sign by a door which is very easy to miss when driving!
- NO STAFF at the facility!!!
A totally EMPTY reception area, NO shop as advertised online! So NO HELP on site even during their working hours!
- NO CLEAR SIGNPOSTS anywhere!!!
Nothing to explain where to find trollies, or how to operate lifts etc... It's like being in a totally derelict warehouse!
- OPENING HOURS ARE NOT AS ADVERTISED!!!!
Online, and laughably on the form they give you in your welcome pack with padlock etc.. It CLEARLY states that Shurgard is open 6am-11pm seven days a week! IT IS NOT!!!! I HAD TO PAY FOR A WHOLE EXTRA DAY OF VAN HIRE BECAUSE THE FACILITY WAS CLOSED BY 3PM ON A SUNDAY, when I turned up at 4pm!
- NO LIGHTS in storage units or main parking dock- you cannot see anything!
The overhead Lighting looks like it has been removed inside the storage units, as wiring has just been left hanging down from the ceiling- which is an absolute nightmare to negotiate tall items of furniture around etc.. There were also a ton of flood lights in the parking area, but yet again, they DID/DO NOT WORK! Which is not only dangerous, but totally impractical! I had to use my iPhone torch to be able to see, all while navigating heavy items of furniture which is RIDICULOUS!
- THE LIFTS DO NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!
This is the most shocking part, because this wasn’t even an unlucky one off situation! I have been to the facility twice now, a week apart, and both times the LIFTS DID NOT WORK, NOR DID THE LIGHTS!!!! AGAIN, A NIGHTMARE WHEN YOU HAVE A LARGE LUTON VAN FULL OF FURNITURE AND BELONGINGS TO STORE!!!!
- ZERO HELP, OR GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN YOU CALL FOR HELP!!!
I was told an Emergency engineer would come to the facility to fix the broken lifts on both occasions, NO ONE CAME!!! On the first, and most offensive time this happened (as in my BIG pay per hour removal Man (x2) and Van situation), I was told an Emergency Engineer would be sent over asap! THEN was told an hour later that NO engineers work on Sunday! Why?!! The second time, a week later and the same situation, but this time not even a call back to tell me no one would come to help! I WAS LEFT TO LUG HEAVY AND CUMBERSOME ITEMS UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS ON BOTH OCCASIONS, COSTING ME A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF EXTRA TIME AND MONEY!!!!
ALL IN ALL.. BECAUSE OF ALL THE NON FUNCTIONING FACILITIES AT SHURGARD- FROM THE NON WORKING LIFTS, LIGHTS, SIGNPOSTS, LACK OF ON-SITE STAFF, OR EVEN BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE PAID OUT A WHOOPING £648.83!!! THAT IS DOUBLE THE PRICE OF WHAT I SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR MY REMOVAL SERVICES!
MY 1ST MOVE IN DAY TOOK ME 6 HOURS, 3 HOURS OVER TIME THANKS TO LIFTS ETC.. NOT WORKING!
A WEEK LATER.. AND STILL SHOCKINGLY THE SAME ISSUES, NOT TO MENTION THE FALSE ADVERTISING OF THEIR OPENING HOURS I WENT 24HRS OVER TIME AND BUDGET COSTING ME A FURTHER £208!!!
I honestly now believe that SHURGARD HAVE DELIBERATELY CUT ENERGY COSTS BY DISABLING THE LIFTS, AND LIGHTS IN THE ENTIRE FACILITY TO SAVE MONEY!!! SO THEY WILL FOB YOU OFF BY SAYING AN ENGINEER WILL COME TO HELP, KNOWING FINE WELL THEY WON’T- HOW SHOCKING!!!!
OH.. AND NOW SHURGARD HAVE THE CHEEK TO SEND ME AN INVOICE FOR £567 FOR THE NEXT MONTHS RENT!! YEH RIGHT!!!….LIKE THEY DESERVE ANY PAYMENT AT ALL- THEY OWE ME FOR MY WASTED TIME AND MONEY!!!

Lift not working (and I was not advised in advance); hard to find the storage space (map doesn’t have a “you are here” and notice boards have it wrong); noone to advise on these subjects or answer any of the questions at the facility; one of the doors was broken and we were locked inside for a period of time. Overall really poor quality + I was overcharged 109£ by movers for extra time and flight of stairs.
