Loved my time with Sidecar

Loved my time with Sidecar, and when I needed to cancel, my phone call was literally less than a minute long. A real person answered the phone, didn't try to talk me into keeping coverage, and was very kind. Thanks Zack!

Stay away

Not happy at all as constant issues with providing supporting documents. Such a waste of time! It took 3 months and they never explained properly what was missing. I am with clients all day and don't have time to keep calling. They made everything difficult and they did not cover my lab work so I had to pay a lot of extra money.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to write this review. Sidecar Health plans cover lab work for medically necessary care and has Benefit Amounts for all needed tests. Benefit Amounts are the fixed amount we pay, and our Benefit Amounts are set to match the average cash price in the marketplace. Providers' pricing for bloodwork can vary greatly, so our members can check pricing before getting bloodwork. Many of our members get money back by shopping around for labs. We take pride in our members being able to understand our Benefit Amounts before getting care, so they know exactly what we will cover. Our member care team is here to help when you can’t find providers who charge less.

This review is for the Sidecar Health Access plan. Sidecar Health also offers employer plans, which provide more robust coverage and additional major medical protections.

Great plan

Once you have their process down, this is the best health plan we've had in years! Love Sidecar!!!

So easy to work with

So easy to work with! I have been able to hit all my appointments, turn in the bills and there has not been any issues so far! I highly recommend going this route when it comes to being able to afford going to the doctor!

This is the worst insurance

This is the worst insurance. Do not get this insurance! They do not cover anything! I had labs done that cost $2700, they only paid $400. I had to pay $2300 out of pocket! This insurance is a joke!

Hi Beth, one of the aspects our members love most about Sidecar Health is that there are no network restrictions, therefore you're free to go to any location you choose, which includes labs for blood work. Our Benefit Amounts are set to match the average cash price in the marketplace, however providers’ pricing for bloodwork can vary greatly. Checking pricing before getting bloodwork is always recommended. Many of our members have been able to “keep the savings" by choosing lab providers who charge less. We take pride in our members being able to find the Benefit Amount for whatever they need *before* getting care, so they can shop around (emergencies are different of course, and we have a specific process there). If you’re having trouble finding care below our Benefit Amounts, we always advise members to call us, and we can generally help find great care options.

Sidecar is the best!

I can honestly say I've never "enjoyed" talking with my health insurance company, but Sidecar makes everything so easy. They are always very helpful and quick to respond. I've been with them for a few years now, and it has been a great experience.

Sidecar always has the best customer service

Sidecar always has the best customer service. The chat feature on the website has been great. If I have a question or I am not sure of what to do. I can go and ask a live person without having to deal with a bunch of malarky. Overall I have been very happy with my coverage through Sidecar.

Great Experience!

It does take quite a bit of work to obtain an itemized invoice from your service providers but once you do, Sidecar Health makes it super easy to upload your documents and they'll take care fo the rest for you. After we've submitted our documents, sometimes we're left with credits on our plan that leave us paying less which is great! And their customer service is awesome and always available!

Great Health care! Used a few times over the past year and…

Used a few times over the past year and was easy to navigate the system. Nice to be able to submit EOB's online through the mobile application.
A bit confused on why Chiropractors are listed as a question on the initial application. Over a decade of research has shown that their treatments are highly effective at a lower cost than M.D's and PT's for musculoskeletal complaints.

Sidecar Health is reshaping the way healthcare is accessed

I've had excellent responses from doctors and pharmacies. The website dashboard is easy, and seamless to use. I believe Sidecar Health is reshaping the way healthcare is accessed. The most appealing aspect is the empowerment it offers, allowing individuals to have complete control over their choice of healthcare providers.

TOTALLY MISLEADING

EDIT: I am replying here to the message below to side car health. My original comment follows this unedited.

The problem has nothing to do with what is possible and what is not possible with your "coverage". The biggest problem is NO WHERE on your website before you buy the coverage are you warned that no matter what, you'll pay 20 percent.

Sorry to break it to you this is indeed a co pay and or a deductable, you just try advertising the contrary through semantics. Further, no where, even after you've purchased the coverage are you warned that you could end up paying most of it, just to "shop around for the best prices" which brings me to the next point, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "shopping around for best prices" and being in a "network" that either covers you or not. They are the same, and differ in name only.

And last, but certainly not least : for the one thing I used the card for YOU DIDN'T EVEN COVER AS MUCH AS THE MONTHLY PAYMENT that I would have been paying had I remained on the plan. In short I paid you 245 dollars and you covered 223 of it.

To summarize, all of the things you advertise as benefits of using this type of insurance over others don't exist. Even if you "don't have co pays and deductibles" your customers will ALWAYS be paying out of pocket. And shipping for cash prices is the same as being in a network. Even if there is a way to benefit from your "scheme" I was completely unaware of how because of the obfuscation of your site, your system and quite frankly your customer service. FURTHER your company made NO ATTEMPT to look into this before you tried to flag my review as false and made me verify.

TOTALLY MISLEADING. The website states "no copays, no deductible" wrong, you pay 20 percent the minute you use their card. then they will hit you for the rest after the services. i had bloodwork done and they paid 222 dollars from 890 dollars, leaving me with the rest.

This essentially means I pay 250 month to take 223.80 off a single medical expense. IN WHAT WORLD DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?

Then they tell you can shop around for different cash prices, but advertise "NO NETWORKS!", what is the difference? if I have to shop around for better cash prices, it is no different than shopping round for doctors in a network. I TRULY believe that any positive ratings are false there is no way, logically , anyone can benefit from this scheme.

You are correct, unlike traditional health insurance, Sidecar Health involves some upfront work to identify the cost of care before receiving care. With this, our members can know before getting care whether they will keep the savings (more than half our members transactions) or pay the difference, which can’t always be said for traditional insurance. Our Benefit Amounts are set to match the average cash price in the marketplace, however providers pricing for bloodwork can vary greatly. Checking pricing before getting bloodwork is always recommended. Many of our members have been able to “keep the savings" by choosing lab providers who charge less.

Resources for bloodwork with Sidecar Health are available in your member portal or you can also call our Member Care team.

We have had over 300 claims on this plan

I have had this plan for almost a year and a half now. To date my family has had over 300 claims, so I would consider myself very familiar with the plan at this point. My family has used it for doctor's visits, specialist visits, surgeries, emergency room visits, telehealth visits, mental health, prescriptions, specialty prescriptions etc. In the past I have had plans with Blue Cross and United. At this point I can honestly say that this is my favorite plan by far. I am able to go to whatever doctor I choose without a referral, I have a clear benefit amount that I can easily find on the app which allows me to know ahead of time whether I will owe money or possibly receive a credit which I have received plenty of! I overall feel much more in charge of my healthcare. I also love having the app with all of my medical records and appointments available at any time I need to go back and look at anything. This is definitely the way Healthcare should be.
