Worst takeaway experience ever!

My friend and I placed a telephone order on 29 April 2026 (I made the phone call). I gave our order, confirmed it when the lady repeated it back to me, asked for the total amount and how long it would be for it to be delivered.
Being a Wednesday evening we were surprised to hear it would be around 50 minutes, especially as my friend’s home is only about 5 minutes away from the shop. We were both exhausted which is why we arranged a delivery rather than collecting it ourselves.
The delivery driver arrived on time and my friend paid him at the door. Once in the kitchen and unpacking the food I noticed that we were missing a portion of chips. They were included in my meal option, not purchased separately.
My friend told me to phone the takeaway and ask for the missing chips to be delivered asap. The lady who answered the call was the one who had taken our order. I explained why I was calling and she put me on hold while she went to check the menu. She returned and said something I didn’t understand (unfortunately her English wasn’t very good and she also talked very quickly). I asked her to repeat herself and put her on speaker so my friend could listen in on the call. The lady repeated herself and I caught a couple of the words. My friend looked blank faced so I explained that the lady had offered us the chips for free on our next order.
My friend responded by saying no, just send the delivery guy back with the chips. We got put on hold again. By this time my friend had served herself with her order and was getting more and more annoyed as we listened to some really awful music. Eventually the lady came back and said something that neither my friend nor I could understand. My friend told her in a loud clear voice that we didn’t understand her and to just send the delivery guy back with our chips. We were out on hold again.
After a few more minutes the lady came back and said okay. I said thank you and hung up.
My friend sat down to enjoy her chicken korma and I unwrapped the foil from my chicken wrap. A strange smell assaulted my nose so I unwrapped the wrap to discover some charred pieces of chicken and no salad. There was supposed to be mixed salad with my chicken. I asked my friend if she thought it smelled funny to her and she agreed with me when I said I could smell a bonfire. I broke a piece of chicken to check that it was cooked through properly and found the chicken to be incredibly dry.
I ate what I could of it and my friend said her chicken korma was really good, which I was pleased to hear. By the time she had finished, our chips still hadn’t arrived.
I left her house sometime after 11pm with no chips being delivered at all.
While it may have just been a portion of chips, they were part of the wrap meal. Every time a customer purchases a wrap, they get salad and chips included. It strikes me as odd that both the salad and chips were missing from my order. To then not be able to understand the lady who took my call just made the matter worse. I am in no way a racist person, but is it too much to ask for a call taker to speak English? She had no intention of sending the delivery guy back with our chips. We definitely won’t be ordering from there again!
