While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

A Financial Parasite in a Family's Darkest Hour

This review represents my personal opinion, firsthand account, and documented experience as a policyholder, along with matters of public record. While our property loss occurred in May 2024, this review covers our entire transaction up through Sill's formal departure and final response in August 2026.
If you are facing a crisis, proceed with extreme caution before signing anything with Sill Adjusting Group. Their glossy promises of 100+ years of expertise and aggressive advocacy vanish the moment a contract is signed.

When our family home burned down over Memorial Day weekend on May 26, 2024, Jeff Gould and an associate descended upon us while we were at our absolute lowest. Using high-pressure, manipulative tactics reminiscent of a timeshare sales pitch—including separating my wife and me to corner us individually—they refused to leave until they secured our signatures. They even coerced us into accepting a $20,000 emergency advance from Travelers that we explicitly refused, using it as a calculated trap to lock in their fee structure.

The reality of their "advocacy"?

Zero Input & Complete Abandonment: When the claim hit appraisal, Sill selected and paid the appraiser out of their own pocket, denying us any voice in who evaluated our loss.

Severe Omissions: Critical portions of our claim were outright abandoned. While both Travelers and Sill claim dwelling code upgrades were addressed, our signed Appraisal Award dated June 6, 2025, explicitly states: 'Dwelling Code Upgrade: Not Appraised.' They omitted mandatory code upgrades entirely and refused to answer for the discrepancy.

Six Figures Pocketed, Zero Accountability: While they pocketed over six figures in unearned commissions, my family—including a disabled retired veteran recovering from two spinal fusions and a total knee replacement—was forced to live in a camper on our farm for nearly three years.

Once Sill extracted the lion's share of their fee through mandatory policy appraisal—not through any independent negotiation or skill of their own—they walked away and blamed my "temper." If client behavior was truly an issue, why wait nearly three years and collect over $100,000 before suddenly quitting right when it came time to do the actual work of recovering depreciation?

Sill preyed on a family in trauma, collected a massive payout for forced arbitration, and abandoned us when we needed real representation. Do not let them do this to you.
