Was looking forward to a relaxing dining experience but it was more like a busy American diner.. very rushed and noisy, we were in the middle of the restaurant with a tiny table and place was packed.... See more

BUYER BEWARE DON'T BUY GIFT VOUCHERS
Please be aware if you have a so called gift voucher any slight indiscretion and they cancel your booking and probably keep the monies that have been placed on the voucher. Maybe this is how they make their profits.
Our reservation was at Spring Gardens Manchester at 14.45. Unfortunately, we made a genuine mistake and had thought that the reservation was for 15.45.
When we arrived at the restaurant we could see that our table was still available but the young girl who insisted she was in charge refused to seat us. When asked what she was going to do to provide a solution, the response was “I’m not going to do anything.
By the very nature of this type of business they are supposed to be providing hospitality which we did not receive and believe the young girl in charge does not have the slightest understanding of the word hospitality (very confrontational, rude and uncompromising)
I have had much better treatment from some teenager working for McDonalds..
If our table had been taken by another diner I would have still expected the young girl in charge to offer a solution i.e. a later time for dining, a booking for another date. None of which were forthcoming and notwithstanding that our table was still free.
As she refused to offer us another solution we went across the road to the much more upmarket and frankly much more hospitable Grand Pacific.
As this was a gift for Christmas from our daughter and was pre-paid, it would seem that they are quite happy to profit from our mistake,
It would also appear to me that this establishments ethos is that customers are dining at a CELEBRITY CHEF lead restaurant (certainly not the case) prefering to treat voucher holders like they are not worthy. I have reviewed a lot of trust pilot and TripAdviser postings and the ratings on both sites is unsurprisingly totally abysmal, a very significant amount of the poor reviews concentrate on the abuse of the so called gift vouchers and the restrictive use policy.
In respect of the Trust Pilot reviews, they seem to echo our own experience with this in, if you have received a voucher as a gift you seem to be treated as second-class citizens:
* you can’t book a table on a Saturday.
* you are untrustworthy as you are also asked to provide your credit card details - why, I have no idea, as you have already received in the region of £100. It would be interesting to find out GDPR Compliance’s view on this as they are asking for and storing personal information with no valid reason.
* The validity of the voucher is short. Ours is only valid until 31st March. My wife works in a school which now means that we will be unable to make a further reservation, presuming our voucher is still valid.
* Their staff are arrogant, unhelpful and clearly not well trained.
Has the owner of this establishment not realised he needs to wake up something is going wrong!! So I urge the owner to take a look at these reviews, although it would appear he does not care. He is still making money from rejected voucher sales as he has your money already.

Murder Mystery night
Went here for a Murder Mystery recently. Thoroughly enjoyed the Murder Mystery part, and we solved it! Our server was Erin and she was excellent. The food however wasn't to my liking albeit thoroughly understanding how the system works; the portions were tiny, it's not a cheap night and personally, I left the restaurant hungry. Personally, I wouldn't go back but purely because it's not my thing, no other reason.

Launch party of Bristol restaurant was amazing - loved the paired cocktails and staff were great
Not worth the money
Went to the Edinburgh restaurant, OK food.
However, drink spilt on a member of the party. No rectification and 12% service charge on the bill.
One of the courses had sold out on a ‘set’ menu.
Wine flight wasn’t available on one of the courses.
As well as being seated at one of the multiple tables positioned near the entrance on a cold winter day.
Not worth the money
The food is decent but its very packed
The food is decent but its very packed, they really try to maximise profit. Also they put on a whopping 12.5% service charge which they kind of pressure you into paying
Went to the Manchester Deansgate…
Went to the Manchester Deansgate restaurant and it was fab service. The food was amazing and nice to have an experience whilst dining. Not sure of our waitresses name but she was brilliant and welcome for our first time. Would deffo go again.
Terrible customer experience
Received gift vouchers for Christmas, booked a table online, contacted to be told I can’t use those vouchers on a Saturday. Gift voucher came with no T&C’s or detail. Have asked when can I use them and been waiting a week for a response. Tried to call, no-one answers the phone. The vouchers are only valid until 31st March, they’ll have expired before I get a response!! Shocking customer service. I have now emailed the customer relations team as per other responses on here. Let’s see if anyone bothers to respond.

**Appalling Customer Service and Billing Issues**
We visited this restaurant on 29th December with friends and specifically requested the bill to be split equally between the two couples. Instead, the full amount was charged to my husband’s card, and an additional half of the bill was charged to our friends.
Since then, we have contacted the restaurant multiple times by phone and email to resolve the issue and obtain a refund of over £200. Despite repeated false promises, no refund has been issued.
The lack of accountability and disregard for basic customer service is disgraceful. We have been patient, but the failure to resolve this matter has left us no choice but to warn others. Avoid this place unless you want to risk billing errors and no resolution.
Another enjoyable meal at Six by Nico!
Had the Nostalgia menu with wine pairing at the Manchester Spring Gardens restaurant this evening (27th December). Great range of dishes with contrasting flavours and well balanced wine pairing. Excellent, efficient, polite and friendly service. This is the fifth Six by Nico restaurant that we have tried (two in Manchester, two in Edinburgh and one in Fitzrovia, London) and have never been disappointed with the food, wines or service.
Cardiff wicked menu
Cardiff wicked menu . service was impeccable . catch up with the girlies so didnt even notice they were running late ,, we had 2 extra dishes & a drink for free then they gave us all the drinks on the menu for free & they followed up with an email apologising & offering a discount on the next visit . wasnt blown away with the menu but the experience was worth it & we had a lovely time . looking forward to going back & hope they are running behind again :) xx
Chippie menu at Manchester Deansgate
Chippie menu at Manchester Deansgate
Superb service from start to finish. What seemed like tiny amounts of food was actually so filling we couldn't finish the dessert. Wonderful, flavoursome food and excellent servers who took the time to explain each course and took our coats as soon as we arrived. I'll be back!
Only con was we could hear the chefs swearing multiple times.
Superb experience however...
Superb experience in Manchester for my birthday two weeks ago however I've since bought physical gift vouchers for my parents haven't received the necessary confirmation of when they will be shipped, can someone please reach out to me?
The Edinburgh branch instagramable
The Edinburgh branch
From instagramable pictures. This restaurant really gets your attention. However. Not great to watch the person preparing your food, try to hide behind the cooking area in full view of the seats to the right and eat a bag of Doritio chilli Crisps then wipe his hands on the back of his trousers and continue to prepare food. Plates also had the film over then like an unwsshed look, due to this you could see server's fingerprint left on the plate. Overall average food not worth the price.
Brilliant food and Service Aberdeen
Went last night to Aberdeen for the chippie meal. Second time we’ve been, last time was years ago,
Top notch in both occasions, last night the food & service was second to none.
Great experience.
Would recommend it
Rude service at the Edinburgh West branch…
First time at the Edinburgh West branch and it was a very disappointing experience. The waiter assigned to our table was rude from the moment we walked in. We asked if there was somewhere to hang our coats and her reply was ‘I guess I could hang them up for you, but you’ll need to remember which ones yours when you leave because I won’t’
Most of our group opted for the cocktail and wine pairings and our waiter didn’t even attempt to give us tasting notes or explain how the drinks complemented the dish. At one point she put the glasses of wine down and said ‘I don’t know what’s in this one’ and walked away.
Several of our dishes came with garnishes missing which we had to send back. One course came without any of the sliced apple and when we pointed it out to our waiter she said ‘What? do you want me to change it?’ At this point we asked to be given a different waiter.
The service overall felt incredibly rushed, like they were trying to get our table through the meal as quick as possible. The cocktails did not go with the food at all and at the end as we were leaving and speaking to one of the servers at the bar he said ‘yeah they’re not actually paired, they do the same ones for lots of the menus.’
The toilets were not in a good state, women’s toilets completely blocked and no toilet roll because it was all over the floor.
The food was average compared to other Six by Nico experiences I’ve had. I don’t know if they were just having a bad night or if it’s always like this but it was not the experience you want when your table’s bill is coming to several hundred pounds.
We did speak to the manager at the end about it all and she gave us a discount on our bill and removed the service charge. She was understanding and shocked at the waiter’s behaviour and did what she could at the end to apologise which was very much appreciated. But in honesty I wouldn’t recommend this branch. It didn’t feel up to standard at all in any aspect of the experience.

SHIT by Nico
Never been and won't ever go there now!
Never been and won't ever go there now!
I booked 'The Chippie' set menu for Leeds just yesterday for £35pp (table for one - decided to check it out and see what it was like). After a night of absolutely zero sleep due to illness I really wasn't feeling up to make the three-hour round trip to get there so I emailed them to cancel.
I knew there would be a cancellation fee however this is usually £10-£20 in other places - yet they are charging me £84!! How? Why? The set menu is £35pp.
Absolute joke when I have zero control over not being well. Also my booking was for 4.30pm so not likely to have been a spot with a waiting list or even fully booked.
A bit underwhelming
We tried the Hollywood menu in Edinburgh. Our reservation was for 7pm. We arrived at 6.55pm and were in the tiny foyer, multiple members of staff around but they did not acknowledge us at all: not so much as a hello for about 15 minutes. Service was friendly once we were seated, but very slow. We were a party of 2 and it took 3 hours: we were hungry between courses. 2 of the 6 dishes were excellent: I would have courses 1 and 3 again. The others were a bit lacking in flavour: loved the idea of the banh bao but it was cold so hard to judge it. The chocolate delice was fine, but by the time our dishes had arrived the sorbet was melted into a puddle all around it. One of our party was eating the vegetarian menu and they were accidentally served a meat dish at one point, it took a while to get this error fixed. To be fair the waitress was very apologetic when she realised. Overall, at £70 a head with service and drinks, I just don’t think it was worth it.
Wow is this it!!!
We recently booked a table for four at Six by Nico on Byres Road, Glasgow, excited to experience their Istanbul-themed menu. As enthusiasts of Turkish cuisine, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.
The concept revolves around very small taster dishes, but most of them were quite unpalatable. The Adana Kebab, in particular, was a letdown – it was no larger than a small marble. Overall, the meal did not justify the cost. The dessert was equally underwhelming, but I won’t go into details.
